The guests, the staff members and all that came for this night of excellence made sure they had their style game on. Many were dressed to the nines. It was particularly a night to relax and have fun and mix with the high and mighty. 


Many didn't disappoint on the style stake. The former MD, Tony Elumelu, still has that effortless mien around him, he always looks cool, collected & suave. The current MD, though brilliant like we have always heard, had nothing going for him style-wise. But that doesn't count anyways, ''na style we wan chop''. 

The event itself took place about 2 weeks ago, Saturday, February, 8, 2014 to be more precise. It was a well put together affair and it was also very well attended. 

The annual awards show was instituted by the former MD of the bank in 2008, in the person of the debonair, Tony Elumelu. The idea basically is to reward star performers of the banking institution, who had excelled beyond measure over the course of the last year in review, so the year in review here is 2013. 

It is always an event that all staff members of the bank always look forward to every year. Entertainment of the best possible kind is always provided. Though we had expected Rihanna to come, apparently the rumour was unfounded or they get an agreement sorted on time. That she didn't come didn't dampen or make the occasion less exciting. Enough world class excitement was still provided by the entertainers engaged by the bank, the likes of the Okoye brothers- P Square, Banky W, Tiwa Savage, UK based award winning Ghanaian artist ODG Fuse, all gave very good account of themselves.  The duo of super funny comedians Akpororo & Gordons were also in their element, cracking without care the bones of those at the event with their fantastic delivery. 

In his speech at the event, the GMD/CEO, Mr. Phillip Oduoza commended all for the hard-work and dedication to work. And reiterated the bank's focus on service delivery and excellence, also pointing out that the indices shows that the bank had done very well in the past year.  The award recipients were all given letters of commendations, plaques & cash rewards in appreciation of their dedication to excellence & the bank's growth.

 Mma Bakassi, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, former SA to the President on National Assembly matters clocked 68 a few days ago. And to make it a party was held at the Sky Lounge, Eko Hotel, Victoria Island. Prior to this post we had informed our readers about the party and what we thought would be how it would go down. Now that the party has held, we have the pictures of all that went down at the party for your viewing pleasure. 

The party had all the razzmatazz expected at high-octane parties like this. Good music, great guest-list,  enough to drink and munch and so much more. The birthday lady as usual came out looking gorgeous. Loads of her friends and associates were in attendance. They had come to party with her and wish her the best. A few older than her, some in her age bracket and most younger than her. Madam herself came looking ravishing in her black outfit.

The sheer number of those who came and admixture sort of, shows the kind of person that Florence Ita-Giwa is, a good mixer and a good friend to both old and young. This are annual birthday celebration has become a must be at party now, that everyone always looks forward to. 

Some of our best dressed guests of the night were the likes of Ndidi Obioha in her Leopard print dress, gorgeous actress Monalisa Chinda surely did razzle dazzled, Rita Dominic's hair was gorgeous we loved the wild streak and her dress was cool. Mrs. Asemota did quite well for her age. For the men, Dele Dosunmu looked extraordinarily dapper for a 50 year old man. As is usual with the Publisher of Encomium, Mr. Kunle Bakare he represented very well in his double breasted suit, John Obayuwana would have looked altogether smashing except that the jacket should have been fitted a bit more, we totally love AVM Ombu's sense of style, it's just that belly. Bayo Abdul has the idea, he has a style that is all his own. Lanre Ogunlesi was also cool, he sure is one handsome man.

The level of your worth in our very fickle society can most often be measured by the caliber of people you pull to your event (parties, launch etc). Most often the number of Governors you attract and other Government functionaries inclusive would determine sometime the amount of respect some would give to you. That's just how our world is and it cannot be changed otherwise in just one night.

One of the young pillars of the Abuja business and social scene in the person of Aisha Suleiman Achimugu recently clocked 40 years old. And to celebrate reaching that age many believes precedes lives enjoyment, she threw down the red carpet and rolled out the drums. 

The day of celebration was Friday, February 21, 2014. The venue of choice when it comes to event of this magnitude is always either the Transcorp Hilton or the ThisDay Dome in Abuja. For this particular event ThisDay Dome was the choice. 

It was a super duper, scintillating and totally gorgeous event, that attracted top Government functionaries both based in Abuja & those outside, several 1st ladies were in attendance and one of those we could recognise very easily was the wife of the Governor of Nasarawa State and the man known to be the 'Father Xmas from the South-south, His Excellency Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom. 

To show you all the caliber of party it was, even the designer whose clothes x 4 the 'birthday girl' wore flew in to celebrate with her. It was none other than Lebanese born International designer of repute Walid Atallah, known world over for his wondrous outfits worn specially by the creme of the Arab world's royalty with some outfit going for as much as $1.2 million dollars. Walid came with Mariam Mohammed, the MD of SaturnGates who also owns the PR company that manages his affairs in Africa. Mariam as usual wore an heavenly white Walid Atallah's creation. 

 Aisha the gorgeous birthday girl wore about 4 different Walid Atallah's creation at her party and they were all exquisite with a capital 'E'. Just try to imagine the cost of each of those gowns!!!Hmmmmm. 

It wasn't just Walid that came in, in tow with him also from Dubai was Najwa Sultan better known in the Arab world as their very own Beyonce. Najwa is one of the best & most popular singers in the Middle East. 

The likes of the incomparable Asa, the superlative Tuface Idibia, the Arabian Beyonce-Najwa Sultan & the popular South African group Mafikizolo all performed to everyone's delight at the party. Prior to this party at the ThisDay Dome, a couple of friends of the birthday girl had hosted her to a  surprise birthday shindig a couple of days before at another venue in Abuja that had the likes of Banky W, Chidinma & Addiction performing. 

One of the major highlights of the main party at the ThisDay Dome, was the stupendous 40th birthday cake(s). It was humongous and couldn't have been less than 40 cakes in all in tiers all placed together. It was dramatic no doubt. See what money can make happen!!! The other highlight was the change of clothes. It was one dramatic Walid Atallah outfit after another in Blue-Yellow-White and another colour. 

All in all it was a big party that was very well put together and all who were there attested to the fact that they had major fun. 

For those who might not readily recall who Aisha Suleiman Achimugu is. The young lady is the MD/CEO of Felak Concepts Limited. A company that is into Consultancy Services related to Health, Equipment procurement, training and Capacity building. Prior to this the award winning Dr. Aisha had made her mark in maritime & transportation engineering. She is the 1st woman transaction advisor/consultant to develop a seaport (Ibaka Seaport) in Nigeria.

Leading photographer, Yetunde Babaeko holds a first of its kind breast cancer awareness photo exhibition geared to inspire the Nigerian public to join in the fight against cancer.

The photo exhibition titled "Battle Scar" will hold on the 8th of March at the Goethe Institute, Onikan by 2pm.

  

This exhibition will showcase photos taken by a group of independent professional female photographers led by popular photographer and owner of Camara-Studios, Yetunde Babaeko and driven by a collective passionate vision "to make a lasting impact through the lens of the camera".

“Breast cancer patients need to know that this does not limit ambition. Knowing this inspires the zeal to impact the lives of females to reach out and accomplish their dreams regardless of the health issues they have. Also being ‘breast aware' plays a major role in early detection so I was especially pleased to be a part of this initiative which will make ladies more aware and become proactive with breast examination and talking to their doctors." says Yetunde Babaeko.

“I am not going to run 5km or climb Kilimanjaro, but I need to do something. For me, choosing to take photos for the cancer support groups, albeit it is very short-lived is a personal challenge. It is so important to raise awareness of breast cancer and the work of our national charities who help women and their families deal with the physical and emotional scars that this disease creates.” notes one of the photographers.

This maiden edition will feature real life photos of breast cancer patients, survivors, their families and the strategies they employ in coping with breast cancer.

Mama mia!!! Jennifer Hudson, the entertainment package, she sings and she acts and she does both so well.She is the cover personality on the March issue of V Magazine. Men!!! She's gotten over her weight issues and she looks cool.

3 REASONS WHY WE WOULD VOTE GOODLUCK EBELE AZIKWE JONATHAN BACK AS PRESIDENT

We are only asking the President for just 3 things. If he would make up his mind to do those 3 things we can bet a vast majority of those that would vote at the next presidential election would grant him his wish and we can bet he would most assuredly have a landslide victory irrespective of whosoever is his opponent at the other parties. And that victory would need no rigging whatsoever. 

The 3 things- 

Firstly, make POWER (electricity) available for at least 90% of the time. Any government that can make that happen would have etched their name(s) upon the almanac of time as it concerns Nigeria forever. That Government would have their name cast in stone for posterity forever. The bandwagon effect of stable and uninterrupted electricity would be so unprecedented that 40% of the problem of the Nation would be solved. Price of things would in the long run go down and loads more. Even the people doing the most menial of jobs would be able to put something little on the table. 

2. Wipe out, obliterate, clamp down on this terrible Boko Haram insurgency. What kind of sect would continually wipe out the lives of innocent souls in the name of a god. What kind of god is this that loves unprecedented blood letting. Who are these terrible people perpetrating this evil in the name and guise of religion. They have left the soldiers they are fighting and have now gone on to go kill innocent students  who are on the quest to better their own lives and the lives of their people through education. In only a few weeks this terrible people have snuffed out the lives of kids, killing them like rams and goats without any justifiable cause. If the President can totally take out this Boko Haram scourge with the minimum loss of lives, we would even campaign for him to stay 10 more years. In just how many years of the emergence of this terrible, blood letting sect thousands of lives have already being lost. Can this continue?

3. Thirdly,  Put a stop to this wanton and seemingly uncontrollable scourge corruption. Let those who are recognised as career criminals either in Government and other positions be convicted and sentenced. Let the rule of law take precedence. The kind of money that people still now is so much its unbelievable. Why won't there be an increase in armed robbery? The wealth on display by very few is colossal. The disparity is unbelievable. The cost of living is terribly unbearable. And then people are being taxed out of existence

Remove Dieziani Allison-Madueke from Petroleum Ministry. Investigate that ministry and all contracts that they have signed out. Curb the excesses of the uncontrollable NNPC. Reduce to near zero the terrible corruption so prevalent in our oil industry. Probe ministries who have high budget allocations, but who cannot show major achievements for such colossal allocations. Re-allocate the colossal amount of money that would be recovered from the criminals in Government and their accomplices towards education and the health sector. 

Do just these 3 things and then see whether many of us would not campaign for your re-election free of charge and even for you to be there forever. 

The problem with achieving some of these things is the problem of vested interests. The other problem which is a terrible weakness would be the WILL to want to do it. 

So think very well Mr. President.

 The very 'fashionable actress' who tied the knot secretly with her beau, football agent Apo Authur has taken in and is on the 9 months course. 

Uche had in the last quarter of 2013, October 2013 to be more precise, quietly had her wedding ceremony devoid of all the fanfare that was expected of someone that's a major player in the Nollywood industry. Now just about 5 months later, the tell tale signs of the growing baby is gradually showing.

The actress herself confirmed the joyful expectation to the reporters at Encomium Weekly in a very recent interview. So come sometime before the middle of the year, we should be hearing the joyful cries of a new born baby(ies). The actress had this to say ''My husband and I are very happy about it''.

IYANYA'S NEW TATTOO IN MEMORY OF LOST LOVED ONES

In a bid to immortalize his lost loved ones i.e his dad, mom & brother, who all died in the space of just 2 years, the in-form entertainer has just inked a new tattoo located on the upper left side of his buff body. 

The inscription on the tattoo reads the names of the dear ones- Elle, Abia & Koko. The image of the tattoo was apparently sent out by the ''Your Waist'' crooner himself. And the caption that followed the picture read- ''Tattoo of my late Dad!! Late Mum and Late Brother who all died in just a short time between 2008-2010RIP'' 

PRETTY SOON ANKARA WOULDN'T BE AFRICAN AGAIN- SEE STELLA JEAN COLLECTION AT THE MILAN FASHION WEEK 2014

Stella Jean is an Italian from Turin but with Haitian origins. She was born in Rome and her father is from Turin. 


She's an upcoming designer that has gained some major followership for some of her other collections. The major one being the one last season at the Armani Teatro. Since gaining garnering the the nods of some of those who are the masters in the fashion world, she hasn't looked back. 

Her latest collection the Stella Jean Fall 2014 collection was majorly inspired by Africa, at least that is clearly seen in her good use of the African Wax Print, at 98% of the 30 piece collection had Ankara, if not the whole collection. The odd thing majorly about the collection is that there were very few black or brown models (just 2) on the catwalk wearing the outfits. 

It might have just being her own a way of appealing and selling to more variety of fashionistas, be it white, brown, black or yellow. 

Anyways pretty soon like they normally do, the Ankara Wax Print might soon lose its African Identity, with the European laying claim to it one way or the other.  Check out the full Stella Jean Collection here.

No no no, it's not what you think. King Wasiu Ayinde (Anifowoshe) Marshall is not marrying 3 at a time. Not at all. Come next month, which is the 3rd month of the year, precisely on Monday, March 3, Tuesday, March 4, Thursday, March 6 and finally Sunday, March 9, 2014 there would be celebration galore in the household of the Anifowoshe's. 

The first celebration has to do with the birthday of the man many have come to acclaim as the king of Fuji music, K1 the ultimate, on the said date he would add a year and clock 57 years old. A day after that celebration on the 4th, one of his daughters by name Hidayat would be having her Nikkai, some 2 days after another daughter would do the same on the 6th, while 3 days after that another daughter by name Sekinat would enjoy the same ceremony. All 3 of them under the space of 6 days!!!

Why all this different dates all for the same man baffles one. At best a consolidation of all the Nikkai ceremonies would have been cost effective. But how does that concern us anyway. It's K1 the ultimate thing, how he wants to do his thing is totally his wahala!!!!!!

For daring to steal another label's artiste, music superstar Kcee's label 5 Star music is in trouble and the trouble is worth N20MILLION. The originator of trouble is none other than the interim President of PMAN, in the person of Questionmark Entertainment boss, Kevin Luciano Gabriel. 

When the going was still very good Harrysong, the master music writer known for hits like Limpopo, tribute to Mandela which broke all download records in the country and many others was signed on to Questionmark records. At the height of the record label's glory it had many stars signed to it like Asa, Silver Saddih, Street Monks etc. With many of them leaving under some circumstances that were not too palatable. The latest in the series is Harrysong, whose full name is Harrison Tare Okiri. 

Kevin Luciano his former label boss is totally incensed that an artist that his brand had invested time, money and sweat on in this day and time, who is still supposedly under contract can feel he can jettison his contract at will without fulfilling the terms of that contract and then go on to sign with another. According to the story, Kcee under the pretext of working with Harrysong and doing some collaboration had lured another label's artiste and signed him on to his own label 5 Star Music, splashing all the goodies on his new artiste (a car and a new apartment and major press). Truth be told, since the collaboration between Kcee & Harrysong began, loads of good has come from it, with both artistes churning out hits after hits, like Limpopo, Pullover and a few more and enjoying major recognition. Harrison not too long ago, just came back from an  MTN sponsored all expenses paid trip to the Grammy awards, for his song ''tribute to Mandela''.

So the price he and his new record label would have to pay (that's if they lose) for that indiscretion and breach in contract is the N20 million Naira suit instituted by Kevin Luciano. 

Can a compromise be reached between the 2 parties? We do not know yet, but we are all watching as the drama unfolds, as this case would act as forerunner for many other cases like this to come.  Can artiste who is signed to a binding contract halfway through the contract suddenly cancel it, without the other party's consent?

This edition of EM, that's the new improved Exquisite Magazine is most probably their best ever cover, bar none. It stars none other than an incredible personality, in the person of serial entrepreneur Toyin Lawani. 

We have never seen Toyin look this good before. It's obvious she was at peace with herself with this pregnancy. Showing off the baby bump with unbelievable aplomb!!! She's most probably the first person in Nigeria, willing to expose the bump and do so with so much swag and style. That Exquisite Magazine could do this must be commended also. Since their anniversary edition 2 magazines or so ago, they seem to be on the quest to be the best Lifestyle Magazine around. So Kudos to Tewa Onasanya, the editor-in-chief and publisher and even Toyin Lawani, their cover personality who also doubles as their Fashion Editor. 

This edition of EM is a must for all lovers of all that's good and stylish. For the 1st time in a long while, Toyin reveals so much about herself and the joy of carrying her delicious baby bump.

EM: What trimester of the pregnancy do you think is or was the easiest for you?

Toyin: The second trimester

EM: Tell us about your first pregnancy and this present one?

Toyin: The first one was quite comfortable and less stressful as I was younger at the time and she is now 8 years old and the face of Elegante kids, my fashion line for the younger ones

EM: How has your diet changed during pregnancy?

Toyin: I have an amazing cook which has made it easy for me to stick to my vegetables. I eat more of broccoli carrots and grilled fish/chicken and I love smoothies …avocado prawn salad is my favourite for now and I had to cut down on my sugar.

EM: What was your first thought when you knew you were pregnant?

Toyin: The first thought was “I hope I remember how I did it the first time” but well its maternal instincts it always comes back.

EM: Tell us about your style before and after pregnancy.

Toyin: My style hasn’t changed much from before. I love standing out and being unique and don’t think pregnancy should make you change how you dress. You just wear more comfortable clothes, but you can still keep it edgy

BASKETMOUTH UNCENSORED 2014 IN LONDON SCORES ANOTHER SLAMDUNK

The way the Pound Sterling must be rushing in for Bright Okpocha & his partners, very soon the heir-apparent to the crown of Comedy in Nigeria, might soon own his own bank ooooo. There's even the gist that he has bought his own PJ already. However all of you wants to define the PJ is left to you. 

Like he normally does around Valentine every year in London, he had another supersonic showcase at the Indigo O2 arena, in London on February 16, 2014. Basketmouth and his co-travelers were in their elements, dishing out a continuous flow of jokes and jibes to the delight of all. It was a sold out crowd again, which has become very usual with anything Basketmouth and CokoBar.com is involved in. 

So great were the number of those that came to watch, that many were turned back as the venue was packed out. So you can understand what we mean by him raking in the Pound Sterling anyhow. Unlike we usually do, we weren't on ground this year to cover the show. But we still got some pictures for your viewing delight.
