The 2009 maiden edition of the ARISE AFRICA FASHION INTERNATIONAL was a major ground breaker in many respect, it was one of the biggest fashion shows ever put together in Africa, and out of the 50+ designers of African origin 9 of them were Nigerians, and they really did Nigeria very proud-NKWO, SAMANTHA COLE, ITUEN BASI, ADE BAKARE, TIFFANY AMBER, LISA FOLAWIYO, LANRE DA SILVA AJAYI, EYOLA & ODION MIMONET WERE THE MAJOR HIGHLIGHTS OF THE VERY WELL PUT TOGETHER FASHION EVENT. And at the end of the week long extraordinary fashion show, the impressive Nigerian collective came home with many of the awards, chief of which was the fashion designer of the year that was won by FOLAKE COKER of THE TIFFANY AMBER fame who shared the top honors with DAVID TLALE of SOUTH AFRICA. So at the announcement to commence the start of the 2010 edition where about 30 designers were to showcase, only 2 out of them were NIGERIAN DESIGNERS-THE EVER IMPRESSIVE & GREAT DEOLA SAGOE & THE EVER INNOVATIVE ITUEN BASI & at the end of the week they did not disappoint in anyway.
