GTBANK ADJUDGED THE BEST BANK IN NIGERIA

One of the founders of Gtbank-the late Tayo Aderinokun, who only just passed on recently must be smiling in heaven now, knowing fully well, that he has left behind an enduring brand, that is able to stand very well on its own, even after his demise.

GTBank for the 3rd year running, has been adjudged to be the ''Best Bank in Nigeria'' by the highly reputable, international finance magazine-EUROMONEY. The well deserved award, was said to have been presented to the bank at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence Dinner in London lastweek.

In recognising Guaranty Trust Bank for the award, Euromoney Editor, Clive Horwood highlighted how “although the bank is only 20 years old, it is the flagship institution for the sector, employing up-to-date banking practices and technology to grow organically into one of the country’s five biggest banks.

The 20 year old bank commenced operation in February 1991, and has since grown with an asset base of over 1 Trillion, shareholders fund of over 190 Billion & employing over 5000 people in West Africa & the UK.  Gtbank has had a lot of first in banking in Nigeria & outside-

In 2007, the Bank entered the history books as the first Nigerian financial Institution to undertake a US$350 million regulation S Eurobond issue and a US$750 million Global Depositary Receipts (GDR) Offer. The listing of the GDRs on the London Stock Exchange in July that year made the Bank the first Nigerian Company and African Bank to be listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange.

Presently, the MD/CEO of the bank is MR.Olusegun Agbaje, who has taken over from the late Mr. Tayo Aderinokun.
