"CASTLES IN THE AIR" -THE STAGE PLAY

 This is the official press release from Beeta Universal Arts Foundation the producers of IYA ILE and THEATRE ISSUES AND CHALLENGES a symposium that held during the FELA IN LAGOS concert in lagos, for their upcoming productions at Terra Cultural Center as part of Theatre at Terra.

Beeta Universal Arts Foundation (BUAF)Beeta Universal Arts Foundation was set up in 2009 by Bikiya Graham-Douglas.The main objective of the foundation is to rejuvenate the culture of theatre by creating opportunities and platforms for professionals to exhibit their talents and advance their skills.

Beeta Universal aims to bring contemporary dynamism to Nigerian theatre, with superb theatrical performances - integrating popular culture in classic dramas for modern audiences.

Bikiya Graham-Douglas-Is the Chief Operating Officer of Beeta Universal Arts Foundation, she was also the Producer of the play' IYA ILE'   an actress and events planner who intends to make theatre the preferred entertainment in Nigeria.She gained her performing arts certificate in the United Kingdom and has starred in various productions on the London theatre scene including the Criterion and the Arcola theatres.As a Planner, she worked with Zons PR and the Africa Unite Music group which sponsored the first ever Best African Act Category at the MOBO Awards. She has organised performances for the likes of Tuface Idibia, Ruggedman, Lebo Mathosa, P Square, and Daddy Showkey in London.In Nigeria, she has worked with the National Theatre, MTV Base Africa, Ministry of Tourism and the FCT Administration. She has starred in the Vagina Monologues at the Muson Centre, Lagos and IYA ILE at the Cultural Centre, Calabar.She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics with Business Law from the University of Portsmouth, England.

The Director - Israel Eboh:Mr Eboh is an artist with about 30years of professional practice both locally and internationally. His credits span the stage, television and films. His love for different art mediums finds him experimenting with new art forms.

The Cast: Soibifaa Dokubo - Chief, Haji Bello - Alhaji, Joy Akrah Princess  -  Stella, Emmanuel Luka-Musa. Kemi Lala Akindoju-Hajia, Omololu Sodiya-Santana, Patrick Diabuah-Aminu. On my way to the theatre.

The Play - CASTLES IN THE AIR by Barclays Ayakoruma, is set in Lagos Nigeria, a Muslim couple desires for their son Aminu to get married and become a more responsible adult. They fail to succeed with their bid until they receive a letter from a great uncle offering a huge amount of money to the family with conditions that Aminu must marry and father a child within a year. In their excitement, the family begins to make grandiose plans on how to upgrade their lifestyle with the prosperity in transit.     Aminu however decides to marry the girl of his dream who is from southern Nigeria and then the conflicts begin. Caught up in the chaos, they fail to realize that they had been building CASTLES IN THE AIR.
