ADEPERO ODUYE ROCKS THE HOLLYWOOD ISSUE OF VANITY FAIR

 She’s the Brooklyn, New York native, but her name says it all, she's got Nigerian blood and that in itself ROCKS! The young and already walking in the path of greatness actress is an ivy league graduate of Cornell University, New York, rated top 15 in the 2012 edition of Best Colleges.

Her resume is growing by the day; she has already starred in an award winning short film titled-PARIAH, a contemporary drama film written by Dees Rees. That tells the story of Alike (Adepero Oduye), a 17 year old African-American teenager, embracing her identity as a lesbian. The film premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and bagged the award for Excellence in Cinematography.

She also has several theater credits spanning many stages like the Yale Repertory Theatre- where she starred in Danai Gurira's play Eclipsed, she was also in The Bluest Eye-Hartford Stage & Longwharf Theatres and the most interesting to us she starred in FELA! At the AEA workshop, this was directed & Choreographed by Bill T. Jones. Her other short film credits are Water by Gabrielle Zamparini, The Tested by Russell Costanzo & Sub Rosa by Nadiah Hamzah. She has also made several TV guest appearances on programs like Law & Order (2 series) and Louie.

Recognitions are coming in gradually- she won ''Best Breakthrough Performance Award'' given by African-American Films Critics Association, the same award she was given by Black Film Critics Circle and she was nominated in the ''Best Female Lead'' category at the Independent Spirit Awards.

And now she is on the cover of the March edition of VANITY FAIR-tagged the Hollywood Issue in great company, Paula Patton (Spouse-Robin Thicke)-Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol, other actresses on the cover were Brit Marling, Rooney Mara, Jennifer Lawrence, Elizabeth Olsen, Felicity Jones, Mia Wasikowska, Lily Collins, Jessica Chastain & Shailene Woodley.

Paula & Adepero were the only lady of colour (black actresses) amongst the 11, a very significant cover one would say, there had been complaints before about the issues of diversity in Hollywood. Where only young white actresses were featured on the cover, with this now, it's a step in the right direction.

The 11 actresses all in Satin dresses looking glorious in retro 1920's styling were all looking like angels, most especially Adepero & Paula!
