Many who grew up in the70's & 80's would never ever forget that baritone voice-It's the soullllllll trainnnnn!!!!. He was a host par excellence, very good at the job. As far back as the 70's he was one of the very few African-Americans who owned is own TV company and the record setting show-SOUL TRAIN, which he was said to have started with $400 dollars.

With its catchy introduction featuring an animated, psychedelic smoke-spewing locomotive, "Soul Train" became destination TV for teenagers across America in the '70s.
