LADI ALAKIJA & LOLADE CARDOSO'S ENGAGEMENT CEREMONY IS ON TODAY- MAY 5, 2012

LADI IS THE 2ND FROM THE RIGHT
LOLADE
LADI & LOLADE
If the little we have seen is anything to go by, then no other wedding in recent times or soon to come would beat this particular one, by any yardstick anyone would want to compare it with. Right about now about a thousand of the close friends and family members of the Alakija's & Cardoso's would start arriving at the expansive hall of the Eko Hotel event centre for the engagement ceremony between Ladi Alakija, the eldest son of Modupe and Folorunsho Alakija- the billionaire owners of Famfa Oil and the gorgeously beautiful-Lolade Cardoso, the daughter of Bimbo Cardoso, the grand-daughter of the late Otunba T.O.S Benson.

The Eko Hotel hall, which normally seat 3000 plus has been divided to host only a thousand guests. The decor and how the main hall has been divided, would be the subject of discussions for many days, with the center of attraction being a gazebo right in the middle where the couple would be the cynosure of all eyes. The gazebo is right across the main stage where the musician on the bandstand would be and on the floor immediately before the main stage is a laminate dance floor. The gazebo is tagged the couple's lounge and would have 24 sofas and 16 round tables. This gazebo would be surrounded at the 4 corners by 6 service areas- 4 buffet spots and 2 massive drinks areas. And behind the gazebo, which would have emerald crystals covering some parts, is an illuminated dance-floor. The emerald which is the official birthstone of the Month of May is green and that is the day's colour in celebration of the couple.
The whole guests area has been divided into 4, each of the 4 sections now subdivided into 2, all this divisions were ingeniously done with tables, so once you are in your own section, you are like on your own island and each of the sitting areas has a gate, which the key that came with each invitation pack would open. There are 4 dance areas in all, one each between sections, and 2 others at the front of the stage and the one behind the gazebo. All this sections have their own dedicated serving points either for drinks or food, so there won’t be any excuse that one side has nothing. The upper terrace on its own is the VVIP section and it overlooks the whole hall with a very panoramic view.

Guests, who had gotten the invitations and were like wow, would further be mesmerized by the time they get in and see what the hall looks like. Apart from the fact that Emerald green is the colour of the day, the very exotic peacock also plays a prominent role as its on nearly everything, the invitation, the carriage that would carry Lolade in, the decorative pillars, atop the main-stage, the backdrop etc, even little crystal peacocks that would be given out as gifts.

The whole engagement ceremony would be at another of the smaller halls. It is after that part  of the ceremony is concluded that the couple and the few allowed in that part of the hall would now move to the bigger hall, for the engagement party proper.

The white wedding from what we have heard is set for London come August, 2012 and it would be at the London Hilton on Park Lane, which is not far from the Alakija's apartment near Hyde Park. We hear the grand-ballroom at the Hilton on Park Lane can host 1,250 guests at a go. We also heard that the thanksgiving would be in September of 2012.

Like the Yoruba's would pray- Olorun a mojo roooooo. God would help keep the day. Amen!!

  6. If I know aunty Folurunsho well, this event was a direct dig at her fake friend Bola Shagaya. At Sherrif's Lagos wedding, she was very "unimpressed" by everything & didn't hesitate to say it out loud.

    And money is good

  7. @Me again, we share the same thoughts! I knew all the 'effizy' was to outshow another friend's wedding! But didn't know who.
Looking forward to the one who will beat this!
But aunty Folorunsho can condemn sha...

  10. @ lolade trying to pump the cardoso name...lmao. If you know her dad carries weight for real for ral, why even bother reminding us? Why is everyone screaming T O S benson when that's was only maternal grandfather ? Mscewwwwwwwtch.

@anon 2.38pm, the IV didn't look formal, Eko Hotel should have been written in full with location. Street name only should be skipped for a popular venue.

Then the partitions done, more like grouping guests according to their wealth.

    What was that carriage for?

I've seen some pictures of guests at the event. Aunty TIti Alakija wasn't there, she's pretty close to Ladi's father. Warrapined?

  15. Well dat was a fab wedding, as far a latest hottest wedding in Lagos is concerned. I wish the couples all d best. Dats d kinda wedding every couple wud dream of, but wigfg cash ofcos. Wink

    ReplyDelete
  16. @Motunrayo, it's NOT the dream wedding of every couple! Wealth or not!
My father had a pol appointment when I got married and my husdand's family are also known politikos. We'd a moderate wedding for just 350 guests.
    Theirs is about show-off!
    .

@Gbogbo big girl, forget about madam Alakija-Annan. She's also missing in the London scene. She's 70+ so she needs to chill out.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Is madam Alakija Annan chilling out or sick? More of the later... So sad her son is globetrotting wanting to make all the money in the world and not giving a hoot. And the daughter looking for ovulation everywhere.

God pls, let my old age be better than my youth!

Finally, aunty/madam Titi and aunty/madam Folorunsho have reservations about each other, a case of F flaunting her marriage knowing T has no marriage to flaunt.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well, my take is that if you want a big wedding why not and if you want something small, all well and good. As long as you are happy really. True talk, that carriage sure looks funny tho. lol

    ReplyDelete
  19. NK, you're rite. But with all socio-economic issues, big wedding will attract vile displayed on the internet. One has to be careful about flaunting wealth these days.

GBG and Quest, as per aunty Titi. Divorce isn't good at all and worse when you live alone in old age with no grandkids to keep you busy!

If my son was at the wedding, he would've asked if he could ride that carriage. Lol

Aloba MM, we're waiting for pictures of the event.

    ReplyDelete
  20. @ Quest, lol at you saying Madam Alakija's daughter is looking for ovulation about. As if it went missing. You're funny oh.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Very Oba of Lagos or is it Erelu-like looking carriage! Traditional ish!!
Gbogbo Bigz Girlz and Quest i gbadun you oh (with Me Again of course.) Plenty asylum dey London wey you know fit find someone. You know who i mean right? Locked up and key thrown away!!!
The Shagaya and Tukur wedding, what happened to it now? With all the fanfare the couple when seen separately all look miserable.
    Best wishes to the couple.
Sisi Mi, I thought Sis Bims had some class. Or no?

  22. Such a loud card! Peacocks and all that grandstanding with grandson, son, daughter and granddaughter of so and so. Your guests already know that! Anyway, all the best. Beautiful bride.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Miss Pepeye i asked you a question on the Ella and Gabby post. When i didn't see your brake-lights i asked the legendary Me Again. Blanks! *waves* Miss Pepeye there's a thread her on that ovulation thing.

  25. ITK, well i agree with you, however you cant live your life for people. Its all about what you want. Their would always be big society weddings attracting vile. That is life!

    ReplyDelete
  26. lol @ some of the comments. I hope the person that created the wedding Invite isnt ever allowed to create another. It looked like a preschool party invitation

    ReplyDelete
  27. @anon 8.41pm, what do you expect? These sets of people with their peackock mentality will insist on what they want. Don't be surprised if it's a known name who's made correct IV who made theirs.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Sisi Mi, thinking about it she always ties her headgear in one funny mgbeke way. Anyway, isn't her late mum Ibo or something? She does have some mgbeke trait. So is this pretty lady one of the triplets or is it twins?

    ReplyDelete
  29. @ Anon May 7, 4:03pm , wetin I do you like ds? I dont know whats up with most things and most people oh. This one wey you dey ask me "strong" questions. Thats why i come here for gist, from time to time. Oya, send me your phone number, let me call to hear that your voice. :)

  30. Eyi babes, e ku ise oh! Na my 'mama oko' Madam T and Ama una dey yab like this.
Well, Madam T has truly mellowed down in all ways, God has captured her.
As for Ama, her problem remains her so-called friends in a particular circle who make jest of her and wish her bad behind her. At 43, her ovulation may be walking away. She need to look for it well.

    Lolade is photogenic sha...

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anon 6.47am, you make me laff! Deep in your heart you're making jest of your iya oko madam T and Ama!
But FYI, God didn't capture madam T just like that, He used illness!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Aproko, thank you. God indeed. All that MFM was fake. She wanted to scatter the place and God fired her with illness. This illness must be so bad that no one sees her. Omashe.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yes, you must have a key to enter the venue going by the invitation card but was the key useful to the invitees? Useless souvenirs i have ever seen in a society wedding. 75, 000naira aso ebi, only to be given a green bag containing bottled salt, customise serviette, one pack of st louis sugar and a non stick cooking pan. For the men, it was either a toasting machine or sliver panel wall clock and FCMB pen. Gosh! wat a complete waste of time and money on absolute frivolities!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Heheheheheheh... Famfa is FCMB inlaw and big customer. FCMB must show solidarity there. The souvenirs are truly a piss off for 75k... But that's what happens when you try to overimpress. Your ideas begin to become stranger than fiction. Heard the Baloguns were shivering at the party...they must to a big customer!

    ReplyDelete
  35. In law through Banke right?

  36. i so much love d settings of d wedding, i was on set 4 d decoration. I hope i will witness d white wedding in london.lol. May God bless d couple in Jesus name.
