Africa Fashion Week London and See Africa Differently are delighted to announce the winner of the See Africa Differently competition in collaboration with AFWL run online to find a winner to showcase in the second edition of Africa Fashion Week London taking place on 3-4 August, 2012 at London Spitalfields Market.
Also winners of the Dakar Sira Vision 2012 Young Designer competition, Baay Sooley and Laure Tarot come from the world of art, having worked in the fields of music, photography and contemporary art before they encountered the creative universe of fashion. Their brand Bull Doff has its origin in urban fashion. Baay and Laure will be joining the line up of up and coming and established designers to showcase in front of 20,000 guests at Africa Fashion Week London.
“As a global platform for African fashion, we aim to make Africa Fashion Week London as diverse as possible and partnering with See Africa Differently, we wanted to give an opportunity to designers in parts of Africa who would not otherwise have the chance to attend,” said Ronke Ademiluyi, founder and CEO of Africa Fashion Week. “Choosing the winner was a challenge as all the finalists proved very worthy, and we look forward to Bull Doff showcasing their designs on the AFWL runway.”
In less than three weeks and at the height of the Olympic summer, London Spitalfields Market will play host to one of the biggest fashion events of the year Africa Fashion Week London where 60 African and African inspired designers from all corners of the world will showcase and exhibit their finest work to more than 20,000 guests in London’s hip Shoreditch district. With leading names in fashion such as Adebayo Jones and George Adesegun, to name a few, and high profile partners such as Mizani and MoneyGram, over 20,000 expected over the two days, and Her Excellency, Chief Mrs. Erelu Bisi Fayemi as a patron, Africa Fashion Week London is set to be the capital’s premier African fashion event.
