OUT & ABOUT AT DAY 4 OF THE SOCIAL MEDIA WEEK 2013

ADAKU ABIMBOLA-UFERE OF 3RD WORLD PROFASHIONAL

ISOKEN OGIEMWONYI

The social media week 2013 was a week long event in Nigeria, from February 18 to 23, 2013 like in other parts of the world that it was happening too. And truth be told it was one event that was trending all through the week of the event. Several activities were packaged by the event organisers at different venues all over Lagos. The Porsche Center, Terra kulkure, Sinari Daranijo and other event places. It was one very well attended series of events, people from all sectors of the economy spoke on their sectors relationship with the social media and how the new media has impacted either positively or negatively on their sector. This is the 5th year of the global event and the 1st year it would happen in Nigeria. It was an opportunity for many to connect, network and share ideas. Yours truly was even on a panel on the 4th day at the Porsche Center, the other panel members were Linda Ikeji, who was unavoidably absent and Adaku Abimbola-Ufere who owns 3rd World Pro-fashional, an online platform totally dedicated to everything fashion.

Our topic of discussion centered on ''Blogging one's way to millions''. It was a fantastic experience. Some of the others we saw at the event included the likes of Uche Pedro, the owner of BellaNaija, Noble Igwe the founder of Nobs360, 'Biola Alabi of Mnet, Ebuka Obi-Uchedu, Bobby Taylor, Seyi Shay, Latasha Ngwube, Ijeoma Ndekwu top editor at BellaNaija and very many others.

We started attending from the 4th day, which was just one more day to the end of the event and we realized we had missed out on loads. It was a fantastic opportunity to network, meeting people of like minds and others who had already excelled so well in their businesses. So many others flew in from other parts of the world, to experience the SMW naija style. We heard the SMW 2013 was simultaneously taking place in 10 different cities of the world, namely Lagos, New York, Miami, Singapore, Milan, Copenhagen, Paris, Tokyo, Washington DC & Hamburg. The Nigerian leg of the SMW 2013, is one many would remember for a long time to come. Many are even already looking forward to the next edition in 2014. We covered the 4th day and we have the pictures here for your viewing pleasure. Check 'em out.

  5. All Isoken needs is Banke BM Pro to transform her. She has some nice features but just looks dirty and untidy a whole lot.
