Two of the best things to happen in London this year are set to happen come August 2013. The Africa Fashion Week London 2013 is going to be far much bigger and far better than the previous 2 in 2011 & 2012.  This year's edition is the 3rd in the series of the yearly event. Dates for the biggest Africa inspired fashion event of the year is from August 1 till 3, 2013, so African designers from all over and even those inspired by the motherland would all be converging in the Queen's Land and the venue is the Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane Road, E1 6QL

This year's showcase catwalk/exhibition would have about a 100 designers & close to another hundred exhibitors. Undoubtedly the past 2 editions of the annual event have been unparalleled great successes. Come August 4, 2013, just a day after the grand-finale of the AFWL 2013 at the 5-star Dorchester Hotel, the very gorgeous Princess Fifi Ejindu, who is AFWL Life patron, would play host to the cream of the London society mixed with other top guests from around the world to the inaugural edition of the African Arts & Fashion Banquet 2013.

The AAFB 2013 is a collaboration between the organisers of the AFWL and their gloriously gorgeous patron. The banquet which has as one of the major sponsors, the Nigeria's communication's giant Glo is the event to be at in August. If all work as planned it would have the wivse of some Presidents in attendance,1st ladies of some States in Nigeria, a couple of Ambassadors & High Commissioners, Corporate giants, the Minister for Tourism & Culture, Chief Edem Duke would be prominently present, most likely also would be the new DG of NTDC, Ms, Sally Mbanefo, so also the likes of Shingai Shoniwa, Noella Coursaris Musunka, Menaye Donkor Muntari etc. Some of Africa's top Designers like............... would also be showing their collections at the event.

It is  the most anticipated top notch event in the summer of 2013in London, that many are already demanding that their IV's must be sent on time.

The beauty of the AAFB 2013 is that it is geared towards raising funds towards a noteworthy charity. According to Princess Fifi Ejindu-

“I believe Africa Fashion Week London is a great platform for African talent and a great opportunity for Africa to showcase the talent that we possess. The era of the hungry African child is long over and it is now time for our culture to be recognized globally.”

“With this event we intend to raise start-up funds for emerging talent and tuition fees for extremely talented designers, hence in a way we are empowering the youth of Africa. While some have the opportunity and the funds to start their fashion labels, many others have no one to give them an opportunity or the funds they need. We have all the natural resources and all the talent in Africa but we should not leave it just to our leaders to help progress. If each of us were to sweep our own doorstep, the world would become a cleaner place. Therefore, this is our way to help emerging talent to a global platform and the funds they need,” The Princess added.

Not giving away too much about what is sure to be a spectacular debut event, Princess Ejindu also hinted that the African Arts and Fashion Banquet will play host to the crème de la crème of African dignitaries and VIPs. “We have some First Ladies of Nigeria already confirm their attendance.” Ejindu says, “Also the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Edem Duke who has given his endorsement to the event will be in attendance.”

Other equally noteworthy guests include the First Lady of Cross River State, Her Excellency Mrs. Liyel Imoke and Ghanaian economist, scientist, political writer and former chairman of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Ghana. Professor Edward Ayensu who will be the Keynote Speakers at this prestigious fundraiser.

The exclusive event which intends to serve as the first fundraiser event for the African Arts and Fashion Initiative which will create start up funds for young designers to assist them in turning their creativity into sustainability. Set to feature fashion shows, art exhibits, and an exclusive celebration of African arts and fashion, the event will also see awards given out to those who have contributed to the growth of youth and women empowerment in Africa.
