SENATOR AHMED SANI YARIMAN BAKURA REPLIES CRITICS OF EARLY MARRIAGES....SEE HIS EPISTLES ''I LIVE IN A CITY..........

We believe this very distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria needs no introduction whatsoever. From the little we have all come to know about him, he is one person who doesn't care whose ox is gored when it comes to his belief & utterances. He says it as he deems fit. He has been in the eye of the storm for a while now, first it was about the sharia law thing a few years back. Now it is about the child marriage issue.

There has been the outpouring of outrage and disgust, since Nigerians learnt of recent that the bill about early marriage to kids had been signed into law, by the Senate of our country. So there's now no law against marrying an underage.

A list of those law makers, who signed & supported the bill has been making the rounds for about 2 days now. One of those prominently mentioned to have supported the bill is the Honourable Senator Ahmed Sani Yariman Bakura, the former Governor of Zamfara State. Who himself about 2 years ago married a 13 years old girl.

He has purportedly replied the critics of the child marriage thing- Hear him-  Nigeria has many uncountable problems and none of them is early marriage. As a matter of fact early marriage is the solution to about half of our problems. For those who wonder, if I can give my daughter(s) out in marriage at the age of 9 or 13, I tell you most honestly, I can give her out at the age of 6, if I want to and its not your business.

This is because I am a Muslim and I follow the example of the best of mankind, Muhammad (PBUH). In Islam, marriage is not only about sex, it is about family and helping one another in achieving their goals, which is the attainment of Paradise. In Islam, a girl can be given out in marriage as early as 6 years old, but consummation of the marriage can only be done when the girl becomes physically mature and she gives her consent to it unlike English law, it is not permissible for a man to rape his wife in Shari'a h Law. So what can anybody tell me?

I live in a city where young girls at the age of 12, have already become serial fornicators and cannot count the number of men they have had sex with.

I live in a City, where primary school children dis-virgin themselves behind the toilets on Valentine day.
I live in a city where young girls flood the street at night looking for men that would give them N500 to have sex with them.
I live in a city where parents send their daughters out overseas to prostitute and send dollars down.
I live in a City where Government officials pick undergraduates from University car parks with coaster buses to wild sex parties.
I live in a city where abortion is so common that even a chemist shop owner can perform abortion with just N2,500.These are your daughters, and this should worry you and not Yerima's private matters. So ask me again why I support early marriage and I will slap the Jinn out of your head.-

Senator Ahmad Sani Yarima

The write-up above was allegedly sent out by the former Governor now a Senator. Truth be told here, he raised some very valid points. What are we going to do about all the other points raised. We shouldn't be puritanical or so moralistic about some parts and allow some. Or what do you all think?

  4. Aloba, permit me to say...evil been done by a few men or women does not justify "that same evil" becoming a law. You just wait until your Hausa friend cheks out your daughter at age 6 and looks at her funny......then you will truly understand the depth of this sickness caused paedophilia

He is really sick, he will marry and keep her to be washing his clothes and making his bed only plsssss he should keep fooling himself. We are against it. Its stealing a childhood very unfair.

  7. The list of the 35 Senators that supported this bill was published in the Punch Newspaper of July 20 2013, I encourage Single guys from Far and wide to look out for their female children from age Six and start asking for their hand in marriage maybe these idiots would retrace their decision.

  8. Let the truth be told! Even the so called "mature ladies choose wrongly. The love of this worldly life has taken over our ryt sense of judgement. I'm not saying he was ryt to av married a 13 year old, but have u seen the content of that law? Are you sure it starts from marrying a six years old? He myt be wrong marrying a 13 yrs old girl, but I can tell you I knw a girl, currently 16 yrs old, who already has 2 kids (ages 2 and 1) out of wedlock, due to her reckless life. Wat do u call dat kind of guy dat did dat to a 14yr old? Nigeria shld av a law against that too. Its either you make it a crime or you make it legal. wat I'm not in support of is exploitation of the feminine race in all its ramification nd early marriage isn't part of it! Ameen to your prayer! May God help Nigeria

  9. The issues the Senator raise is about poverty. How does child marriage help? The key is to ensure there is equal access to education for all. Marrying a child doesnot enhance her life opportunities, it is just another form of slavery.
