Maybelline NY is an American makeup line that is sold world over but owned by French brand L'oreal. They made their glorious entry into the Nigerian market officially about 2 weeks ago with an event that held at one of Nigeria's best boutique hotels- The Wheatbaker in Ikoyi.

Information as to the exact date she popped & where particularly in the U.S is still a bit sketchy, but we can tell you for nothing, that the new baby & his gorgeous mom are said to be in the best of health.

Many have said it that Rita Dominic is probably the most stylish actress in Nigeria, though we have argued it a few times, we can't but commend that she always does her best to put her best style foot forward all the time. 


We have been more than impressed many times, while sometimes and very very few times at that, we have had little complaints, but all in all, she has been impressive.

As we speak except something changes between now and Thursday, not less than 8 humongous, well appointed  marquees, more might be added if need be, would be erected at 8 different spots around town for guests are ready. When we say marquee, we are talking about the best of the best you can find around, fully air-conditioned and very well decorated. Some to take 2000 plus guests, others to take 1000 plus guests. Little adjustments and clearing and cleanings have been ongoing around the town from what we learnt, even repainting of some places. The Lagos launch of Bodyline Fitness and Gym on Saturday October 26 attracted some of the most influential men and women in the city, with many guests commending the owners for giving Lagos a truly world class wellness centre.

The Ikoyi-based health lifestyle and fitness centre has been described by pundits as one of the best and biggest in West Africa, with facilities including a gymnasium, an indoor swimming pool, aerobics studio, spinning room, spa services, yoga and pilates room among others.

During the official opening, the Managing Director, Bodyline Fitness & Gym, Mr. Bankole Opashi reiterated the importance of the Lagos outlet to the Bodyline brand. “Launching in Lagos was very important for us as we knew that Lagosians needed these services especially given the hectic nature of the city.” He added that keeping fit no longer has to be boring because adding fun to the concept of healthy living is what has sustained the brand for the past seven years in Abuja.”

Mr. Opashi also took guests round the world-class stylish facilities for a first hand experience of the available services whilst guests were treated to their choice of free services ranging from deep tissue massages available at the spa to free hair, manicure and pedicure services at the beauty salon.

Bodyline Fitness & Gym began operations in Abuja on October 27, 2006 though the Lagos rollout will see the brand launch in major cities across Nigeria.

 The indig02 Arena in London, last night Sunday, October 17, 2013 was packed full as the place hosted the the annual Afrobeat Festival 2013.

On the bill at the event this year were May7ven, Tiwa Savage & the very original Awilo, the waist twister original. 

All the stars did justice to the the pre-show hype as they gave performances of their lives. The sexy & delicious May7ven, who is Segun' the mathematical' Odegbami's daughter was as delicious as always, sonorously gifted Tiwa was also 5 star & Awilo is always a delight to watch. As usual the CEO Dancers were out of this world.

WIZKID DROPS JAIYE JAIYE VIDEO..........

Nigeria's rave of the moment the fantastic kid wonder known to all as #Wizkid whose real name is Ayo Balogun has dropped the new video for his banger if a hit, Jaiye-jaiye where he featured one of his idol- Femi Kuti. 

The video directed by Sesan, sees the hitmaker in the forest as a caped hero. He is later seen driving around town in a Bentley singing about his plans for his parents and crooning about the changes in his life since hitting it big. In the video the #starboi is seen channeling his top idol Fela, wearing the ankara pant and later on the top looking cool and then performing with Femi at the world famous #african shrine. 

In our opinion, we think its a simple, easy does it video without any unnecessary gimmicks. What we particularly love about the song itself is the reflection on how far now he has come from the days of yore and how thankful to God and appreciative he his.

FORMER CHIEF OF GENERAL STAFF, ONDO & LAGOS MILITARY GOVERNOR VICE ADMIRAL MIKE AKHIGBE HAS PASSED ON

We commiserate with the families, associates & friends of the former Governor of Ondo & Lagos State, who later became the deputy or better put the Vice President to the then Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar during the military rule between 1998 & 1999, in the person of Retired Vice Admiral Mike Okhai Akhigbe, who sadly passed on to the great beyond age 68 at the weekend in London. 

The former Chief of  Naval Staff, is said to have had a long battle with cancer, before finally succumbing to the cold hands of death this weekend. 

After his retirement, he had gone on to read law, becoming an attorney and had ran his own law firm, specializing in maritime & real estate law.  He is said to have had a substantial investment in real estate. 

He is survived by his wife & children. May the soul of the dearly departed rest in peace.

MAHEEDA FINALLY GOES STARKERS ON SOCIAL MEDIA....

Still on the subject of controversial beings, another popular one this side of divide, in the person of self confessed 'former' prostitute Maheeda, supposedly now 'Gospel' crooner finally went totally gaga. The 'married' ex-call girl, who we think loves the unbelievable attention she has been getting finally outdid herself revealing pictures of herself totally naked on the social media. 

The pictures so revealed showed the lady with her tattoos in the buff, clean shaven in various poses, thank God she still had the decency of not showing the world the twin peaks & the 'bermuda triangle'. 
Is it that she's trying to promote her gospel jam or what? 

Anyways, it is very obvious that madam loves & craves the attention she's getting. About being a gospel crooner is another thing entirely sha ooooo. If what the gospel, which means the teachings & revelation of Christ is what she's all about then, what she has been preaching of late is another thing entirely. 

Truth be told, we totally understand, as the Word already has said it ''By their fruits , Ye shall know them''.

RIHANNA CHANNELS MEDUSA FOR BRITISH GQ SILVER ANNIVERSARY COVER EDITION

Rihanna overdid herself for the new cover of the 25th anniversary edition of the award winning men's lifestyle staple, GQ Magazine. The pop star who has been courting plenty of controversies of late channeled that famous mythical creature of Greek folklore known as Medusa. 

Remember the Gorgon, whose name means the 'protectress' or guardian in Greek, with hair as snakes. The monster had the face of a female human & live venomous snakes in the place of hair on her head. Her continuous stare on anyone or anything turns the subject of the stare into stone. She was later beheaded by Perseus.

On the cover picture done by the very famous Damien Hirst, Riri perfectly depicted the very famous Medusa.

Congratulations to the them at British GQ, for 25 years of Excellence, packed full with so many awards too numerous to count.

SARKODIE & FAMILY DOES USA IN STYLE

Just to show how important family is, top Ghanaian music star, BET Award winner 2012, brand ambassador, Michael Owusu Addo aka Sarkodie 25, showed love by flying his family, mom & sister in first class to the US. 


The trio in first class (though looks more like Business class) and other members of the entourage included, Sarkodie's personal deejay, DJ Mensah & 2 other members of his backroom staff. They all left Accra en-route Columbus, Ohio, USA where Sarkodie is billed for a concert on Saturday, October 26, 2013. Columbus is the largest city in the State of Ohio in the US.

For Sarkodie, the idea of flying his people in first class was necessary because he wanted his family along, quoting him ''I always miss home, so am taking home with me. Flying 1st class with mum and sis. Columbus, Ohio here we come''.

The Columbus, Ohio event us set for the Aladdin Shrine Center, Columbus, OH, from 8pm, tomorrow. Supporting acts for the show includes DJ Rek One, Dickie D & Bizzie B Fareal.

Prior to the party last nite, there had been much press about the upcoming party that had been tagged #Sarah Ofili Twerktastic Birthday Party. Sarah's actual birthday from what we hear is Tuesday, October 22, but the party was now planned for the next day, Wednesday, October 23, 2013. 

At hand on the D-day to celebrate with the birthday gal were the Sarah's former beau, #Ikechukwu aka Killz, who stormed the party venue with many of his friends. Others at the party were #Iyanya, #Suri, #Davido, Shina Rambo & very many other guests. The Ella & Gabby brand continues to dazzle all with another fine showing last night at the on going Gtb Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2013, at the Ocean View Ground, Victoria Island, Lagos. It's quite unbelievable that this brand is just about 2 years old. 

The Lagos based, Internationally acclaimed fashion brand owned by Ada Mgbudem, launched their 2013 capsule collection with a catwalk showcase last night to loud applauds. 

The collection showcased we hear is a continuation of the brands Autumn/Winter 2013 collection tagged ''Tropical Sophistication' as shown at the recently concluded Africa Fashion Week London 2013 & also at the Elite Nigeria Model Look Finale Competition 2013. 

As usual with the brand, it was a classy, well coordinated and gorgeously colourful collection. Simple yet chic.

Joyful Joy Foundation Launches in Lagos Nigeria! on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2013

 

Slightly beyond a year after launching in the United States, the Joyful Joy Foundation is set to launch here in Nigeria.

 

Founded in 2012 by Osas Ighodaro and Co-founder Sioux Greaux, Joyful Joy supports the push for a healthier and Malaria-free Africa.  Its alleviation strategy to positively impact communities involves offering programs focused on health and wellness, ending hunger, preventable disease and providing economic development opportunities.

 

The Joyful Joy Foundation is an NGO registered in both the US and Nigeria.  It was founded in honor of Joy Ighodaro, sister to Osas Ighodaro, who was with child and contracted malaria during a trip to Nigeria in 2006. At the time, there was little awareness on early diagnosis and tragically two lives vanished. Osas became very passionate and pro-active with elevating the platform of malaria eradication and dedicates much of her time and energy towards awareness initiatives and fundraising. 

A trip to Nigeria in 2011 opened Osas' eyes to the plight of those living in distressed communities.  It was then, along with Sioux Greaux that a pledge was made to create Joyful Joy, to honor the lives of those gone too soon and to Spread More Joy into the lives of those who need it most. No one should have to bury a loved one because of a disease that is treatable and preventable. None should have to go without food and the basic necessities to live a healthy life.

Joyful Joy Foundation is set to launch in Nigeria on Sunday, October 27,  2013 at the Avenue Suites, Tiamiyu Savage, Victoria Island Lagos.

This event will be hosted by Gbenro Ajibade from Tinsel and Vimbai Mutinhiri of Africa Magic's StarGist.  The event will also feature performances from Tee Y Mix, Former Project Fame contestant Ella, Irawo crooner Seyi Shay, Comedian Elenu, and an amazing African Dance by GongBeat Productions. At every events, occasions you get to meet her, you are sure to be dazzled by one thing or two she adorns. To show that hers is a love for fashion on the highest level, we hear she's on first name basis with many of the international designers or their representatives or agents. So a lot of the times, when a new collection is just about to come out, you can be sure she's one of those that would have gotten it, so it's always straight from the catwalk/runway for this style maven extraordinaire.

Last nite, at the Day one of the on going Gtbank Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2013, she was one of those that added colour and drama to the fashion showcase, as she arrived on the red carpet specially to come view one of her favourite Nigerian brand showcase-, that is Ella & Gabby.

As usual and as expected she wowed all comers with her ensemble. She had on an intricately embellished Ankara number made for her by Ella & Gabby, that's one good way to show unflinching support for a brand she believes in. Then like she's known to do, she accessorized the package with some of the best pieces one can lay hands upon. First the headgear or fascinator, a golden pineapple piece by Piers Atkinson, renowned for his awesome pieces, as worn by some of the most iconic style mavens in the world, Anna Del Russo, Princess Kate of Cambridge& Lady Gaga just to mention a few; then her golden Auth Judith Leiber Hawaii Pineapple Crystal handbag, said to cost in the region of $4499 Dollars & finishing off the look with a Charlotte Olympia Gold Andrea Sandals which goes for about $1133 Dollars.

Also wearing an Ella & Gabby piece for the same event, was none other than property developer Eunice Efole. Just like Nkiru above, she had on an Ankara print & silk mix, made into a floor length gown. Her own gorgeous accessories were diamonds & emeralds to add more splash & oomph! to the whole ensemble.
