ALL ROADS LEAD TO OKRIKA IN RIVERS STATE COME THIS THURSDAY 31, OCTOBER & FRIDAY 1, NOVEMBER 2013

HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS COMMITTED TOWARDS A BEFITTING BURIAL

A monumental event is set for Okrika, a now very famous port town in Rivers State in the South-south of Nigeria. From Thursday, October 31, 2013 to November 1, 2013 the foundation of that small island town would shake to its root as the high & mighty, the influential and the political bigwigs, Governors, Ministers, Religious leaders, Heads of Parastatals, Local Government Chairmen, Councillors, Top Government functionaries of all kinds, big time businessmen , the who-is-who and even entertainment juggernauts would converge on that town.

In preparation to receive them, a minor transformation has been on going in that town now for several weeks. Hotels in and around the town have been booked, are still been booked. Spaces in homes of the bigwigs around town cleaned and dusted to receive the august visitors coming to town.

As we speak except something changes between now and Thursday, not less than 8 humongous, well appointed  marquees, more might be added if need be, would be erected at 8 different spots around town for guests are ready. When we say marquee, we are talking about the best of the best you can find around, fully air-conditioned and very well decorated. Some to take 2000 plus guests, others to take 1000 plus guests. Little adjustments and clearing and cleanings have been ongoing around the town from what we learnt, even repainting of some places. Madam's compound, the Palace and other places going through transformation.

All of these towards hosting the tens of thousands that the very 'amiable' wife of our very hardworking President, Dr Goodluck Azikwe Ebele Jonathan, in the person of the First Lady of Nigeria & Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa State, Her Excellency Dame (Dr.) Patience Faka Jonathan would be welcoming to Okrika, in Okrika LGA, Rivers State.

For those who might not know, Okrika is the ancestral home of the distinguished First lady and it is where the late mother of Dame Patience Jonathan, in the person of Mrs. Charity Fyneface Oba, would be buried come Thursday.

Mama Charity Fyneface-Oba, had died after being involved in a car crash along the well known Elele Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State on July 22, 2013. Since after the death of the nations first grandma, plans have been on going to make sure to give Mama a befitting burial. Okrika on Thursday, October 31, 2013 would witness an avalanche of high-powered visitors and security officials like they have never had it her history and might not have it again afterwards.

To make sure that all goes well and as planned, a colossal amount of money has gone into the planning and execution of all the plans for the event. Some have even whispered that costs so far would have gone into hundreds of millions(unconfirmed). Many were moved to Okrika and have been there for several weeks now to make sure that everything would be ready for the dates. What does one expect when the First Lady is likely to host not less than ten thousand people or more people, which is a conservative estimate.

We heard that in order for all to go well, the Minister for Education and madam's son from another mother in the person of Chief Nyesom Wike, has been up and about, overseeing the committees appointed for the burial ceremony. From what we heard about 5 different committees were instituted with Chief Wike as the overall head. 2 names that we are whisperings about that 'might' sing at the ceremony (not confirmed) are Tuface & D banj.

Come this Thursday, October 31, 2013 Okrika & her environs would stand still as the might of the First lady & the Presidency pays the place a monumental visit.

May the soul of the dearly departed continues to rest in peace.

  1. When I saw Wike's picture and before I started reading I thought he was starting his gubernatorial campaign. Why is a Wike 2015 poster put when it's a story about a burial? I'm sure you can find Mrs GEJ's Mum's picture somewhere to replace that one.
