It's probably the year of Chiwetel Ejiofor, as his portrayal of Solomon Northup, a free black man from upstate New York, who was abducted and sold into slavery and faced terrible cruelty and expected kindnesses has blown him sky high. The fantastic role interpreter got a nod from the jury behind the BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) last night, Sunday, February 16, 2014 as he won the 'Best Actor' Awards for 12 Years a Slave.
This win is a pointer to the upcoming Oscars, which the same film has been nominated for in different categories. The British/Nigerian actor beat the likes of Leonardo Di' Caprio (The Wolf of Wall Street), Christian Bale (American Hustlers), Tom Hanks (Captain Phillips) & Bruce Dern (Nebraska).
Congratulations to him.
