As part of its goal to empower and equip 100,000 Students and Youth Corpers in the next year, technology industry player, VEDA introduces Student and Corpers’ Laptop, Internet and Content Scheme “SLIC”
which is geared towards students and graduates in school and during
their National Youth Service with the sole purpose of empowering these
citizens with the 2 most important tools of the 21st century; a Computer and Internet Access.
This
scheme is groundbreaking and a first in Nigeria for Students and Youth
Corpers. Specifically, for the first time ever Youth Corpers can get
computer financing with their statutory allowance with absolutely no
hassles or strings attached.
Veda has partnered with Gtbank Plc, MTN Nigeria, Standard Alliance Insurance, Jobberman.Com and Intel Nigeria
to provide Students and Youth Corpers with a Veda Laptop, Windows 8 OS,
MTN 3G Internet Modem with 1 Month of Internet Access, 1 Year Warranty,
1 Year Accidental Damage Insurance, Tons of Apps including
Jobberman.com’s Premium Services and a Laptop Bag financed by GTbank PLC
for as low as N3,500 per month payments. There is no equity
contribution, collateral or any hidden requirements.
For
the Youth Corper, he or she needs to provide his/her BioData, Call up
ID Number and open a GTBank account to apply and receive the product
bundle while Students only need a working sponsor or guarantor to
co-apply. 100,000 Students and Youth Corpers nationwide are expected to
participate in this scheme over the next year.
This scheme is fully supported and endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Communications Technology, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Veda Technology will also launch a first in Africa;
free Accidental Damage Insurance on its products in partnership with
Standard Alliance Insurance. This coverage will include physical damage,
electrical surges, spills, broken screens and other accidental damages
on her products for 1 year.
For
the Pilot Scheme beginning this month, Youth Corper Applicants can
apply in Lagos and Abuja NYSC Orientation camps and pick up products on
the last day of Orientation Camp.

The full scheme will be available to all Universities and all NYSC camps nationwide in 2013.
