There is a good dose of polka dots which has been done right and has been properly styled with other fabrics and accessories such as Silk, Lycra, Leather, Feathers and Chiffon which are all pleasurable to the eyes!

This “Freedom” collection, recently showcased at the 2013 Africa Fashion Week London was an insight as to how to pull of polka dots.

Toyin Lawani’s love for the vintage era has been cleverly emphasized and she goes to show that any fashion forward woman can still look chic and sophisticated wearing the dotted look by keeping it classic. 

Style Tips:

Pair them with great classic pieces such as a nice leather handbag, nude jacket or black cigarette jeans. Keep your jewellery simple too, dots bling do not always match. 

The polka dots should be proportional to your shape, so if you are have a big bust; the print should be slightly larger to balance a bigger chest. Conversely, if you're petite on top, the polka dots should be smaller to keep things proportional.

Polka dots are a cheery print that can bring an element of fun to your wardrobe. Just remember to keep things proportional and simple, and to pair polka dots alongside solid, neutral pieces.

TOYIN LAWANI DOES A DOUBLE SLAMDUNK AT THE AFWL 2013

TOYIN LAWANI, BABY BUMP & TIANNAH

 Serial entrepreneur and the boss of the growing business conglomerate, Ms. Toyin Lawani had a great evening at the 3rd edition of the Africa Fashion Week London, on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at the Old Truman Brewery, on Brick Lane, Shoreditch, East London. 

She got the whole hall excited with her new collection at the AFWL 2013. She had tagged the collection- the Freedom collection 2013. Apparently the idea is to pass across a message of self-expression without inhibitions whatsoever. It was bright, sassy, unconventional in a way, playful and sexy at the same time. It was made up of her favourite polka dotted outfits in PVC leather but in very bright colours- Pink, Yellow, lilac, blue etc. Not just that alone, there were the ultra sexy, very clingy multicolored dresses that clinged on to the models very sexy silhouettes like 2nd skins. 

The minute the music came on cue to announce her collection, with the first model stepping out everyone knew immediately, they were on to a very exciting 12 minutes. The models one after the other came out with loads of attitude to show-off. They weren't just strutting, but also dancing and showcasing their outfits with much aplomb. The audience seemed to have been waiting for the energy been released and flowed with it clapping excitedly.

When the lady of the moment herself came out on the catwalk to take her bow, she was in a red polka-dotted outfit on a nice pair of white tennis outfit, looking all rock chic badass. While strutting to the front, she also revealed with much aplomb her gradually growing baby bump!!! Just like someone exclaimed, Toyin did a Beyonce on the catwalk!!! Wedding is on the card from the little we are hearing!!! (Not confirmed though)
