Here in this feature is one that can be spoken of or about as a truly great at least when it relates to style and fashion. Lisa Folawiyo, the brain behind the very popular Nigerian fashion label "Jewel by Lisa" and another offshoot JWL is that very one.

Lisa is one that we can say as a matter of fact is truly on the path towards that "Iconic status" that has been so wrongly used or applied that it was becoming ridiculous. We can even say as a matter of fact that her "iconic status" in the nearest future is assured without any doubt whatsoever.

Lisa is one undoubted and gorgeous style maven, who has kept it together for several years now, as we have watched her steadily and we haven't been disappointed at all. Her shoe game/glam is one we can say without any fear of contradiction that is unrivalled and totally out of this world! That she loves shoes is like saying she loves life itself. And its not just about the shoes alone though, the 'magic conjurer' behind the well respected fashion label which has brought good attention the way of Nigeria has an out of this world sense of style, which she projects so effortlessly, so simply chic like it's just 2nd nature to her.

She projects the image of someone who just doesn't try, but just wakes up and she looks good. Style though a personal expression; ones own signature at that, shouldn't be seen to be forceful, it should be seen as a part and parcel of one. That's how well Lisa seem to have projected it.

MUSIC MEETS RUNWAY 2013 UNVEILS THE 5 ICONIC DESIGNERS

Music Meets Runway unveils 5 iconic designers who will be showcasing at this year’s edition. Also showing his wedding collection on the date is Mai Atafo.  Music Meets Runway (MMR) has successfully showcased Nigeria’s talent in the fashion and music industry in the past years and has also encouraged up and coming designers by giving them a platform for recognition. 

This is the 3^rd edition and its tagged ‘iconic’, which features our established home designers who are trailblazers and internationally recognized with several awards, reputable brand partnerships and participation in fashions shows (local & international) to their credit.

MEET THE DESIGNERS

 OKUNOREN TWINS

eKehinde and Taiwo Okunoren have been in the business of designing sophisticated African and European styled suits for over a decade. The duo launched their first line of suits at the very young age of 19 and have continued to rise steadily to prominence ever since. Their most recent accomplishments include the showcasing of their latest designs at the 2012 Arise Fashion Week, an event that was flooded with the who’s who of the African fashion and entertainment industry.

TAIWO & KEHINDE (OKUNOREN TWINS)

 G.O.O.D. Music’s latest addition, D Banj, was also seen sporting a custom made suit by the twins during his sold-out 2013 DKM Concert. Over the years, DJ Caise, Naeto C and Don Jazzy are a few of other celebrity clients the twins have dressed up for red carpet events (and in Naeto C’s case, his very own wedding).

JBL is one of the more established fashion brand that had a classy showcase at the just concluded Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2013, which happened at the Oceanview expansive ground in Victoria Island, Lagos. Most of last week and ending at the weekend, Lagos fashionistas joined up with many from other parts to view the works of their favourite brands. 


From all account, the JBL brand was one of those that had a marvelous showcase. Check out their collection.

JEWEL BY LISA SCORES HIGH AGAIN ON THE INTERNATIONAL SCENE- OUTFIT WORN BY ALICIA QUARLES

Jewel by Lisa is one of the proudly Nigerian fashion brand that has continually scored a high mark amongst the fashion savvy on the international scene since it emerged a few years ago. 


With Lisa Folawiyo as the creative egg head in charge, the brand has continued to mesmerize those who know a thing or two about fashion and style, both at home & abroad. 

The latest star/celeb to wear one of the brand's creations is Alicia Quarle, the very fashion forward E! News correspondent.

For someone of the caliber of Alicia, who is always the cynosure of all eyes & always looks great, to wear the fall 2013 leather embellished dress by Jewel by Lisa, says a lot about how much strides the brand has made on the international scene and how international celebs/stars view the brand.

We fell in love with this new collection by the House of Jewel by Lisa. The 'exquisiteness' and flow of the whole collection was so welcoming. Outfits that sensually drapes the feminine features, and shows the curves to great advantage.  Lisa Folawiyo & her team must be applauded for showcasing another winning collection, made up of many of the outfits soon to be seen on many international stars again and again.
