COUNTDOWN TO THE CHRIS BROWN CONCERT IN LAGOS

Now that the naysayers have believed that Chris Brown is now coming to Lagos on December 22, 2012. We can also now tell you for free all the supporting acts from Nigeria, that would be doing the show. It's definitely going to be a rollicking time on that day. The main act you all already know very well, he is the dancing machine and a performer par excellence, Chris Brown aka Breezy. Added to the bill are some of Nigeria's best, the likes of the Maven Record's first lady, the angel known and addressed as Tiwa Savage, another lady on the bill, is another UK returnee with mad gorgeous voice, Miss Jaie, there is the mad impressive Burna Boy, who is controlling the airwaves with his brand of music & delivery, we have got mad love for the sonorously endowed Seyi Shay, who is another UK returnee. We already know, what the only MC with the M.Sc can do, that's Naeto C, there is also AjeButter, who himself also wants to do Alanta, not forgetting upstarts like DRB, LOS & Mercy from Idols. 

It's going to be a night to remember, we can tell you for sure. It's the day after another major concert. This year's end is totally jam-packed with fun and major events, Rhythm Unplugged, Baddest Concert, Koko Concert etc.

Lagos| Nigeria Hip-hop superstars, M.I and Naeto C invaded the Lagos mainland last weekend with a massive bang for their final Hennessy Artistry club appearance.

The event which held at Octopus Reloaded on Friday, October 12^th was graced by big shots who trooped to the club looking all suave and ready to party with the Hennessy Artistry headliners.

Starting out with a lush black carpet session, guests were treated to fast rising Disc Jockey, DJ Snatch’s back to back mix of powerful Nigerian hit tracks.

Sultry singer and Storm 360 signee, Ms Jaie opened the show with a smashing performance of her hit track, “Kilon poppin”. Talented popstar, Flowssick also made a grand entrance to the stage with “Ringtone” and later moved guests to party with his hit track, “Lowkey”.

Visiting Octopus Reloaded for the first time, M.I and Naeto C took the party to a whole new level as they performed the Hennessy Artistry theme song, Bartender. Also moving around and thrilling the crowd, M.I performed his monster hit “Anoti” at the audience’ request.

“We promised to take fans to another level on this year’s project and from the response we have received so far, fans have gotten nothing but the best!” M.I says

Naeto also got the excited crowd dancing and singing at the top of their voices to his monstrous track, “Tony Montana”.

Guests in attendance include, Ice Prince, Big Brother Africa 2012 contestants, Talia, Tamara, Julio, Seydou, Ola, Deji Falope among others.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Solid Star and Tunde Ednut were at Slicks in VGC, Lekki, Lagos, for the final Lagos edition of the Hennessy Artistry club tour. The talented duo drove guests wild with amazing performances of Solid Star’s popular “Omotena” and Tunde Ednut’s smashing hit, “Catching Cold”.

Since the beginning of this year’s project, Hennessy Artistry has proved why it’s the biggest music platform in Nigeria – a country whose music industry is regarded the most vibrant in Africa. They have since taken over the entertainment industry, clubs and electronic media in Nigeria and beyond.

To round off this year’s Hennessy Artistry project, there will be an invite only VVIP concert this Friday, October 19^th, which will bring this year’s outstanding project to a grand close. Hennessy Artistry headliners, M.I and Naeto C will perform alongside all the supporting acts as well as a number of surprise acts that have been billed to stun guests at the event.

The video of the year is about to drop!

Hennessy Cognac announced today, that acclaimed Film Maker, Clarence Peters has delivered the music video for ‘Bartender’, the historic Hennessy Artistry collaboration between Naeto C and M.I - two of Africa’s best Hip hop artistes.

The video promises to be very exciting and arguably sets a higher bar for music video-making in Nigeria.  ‘It’s a collage of different set pieces, with emphasis on Hennessy culture, styling and values’, says director Clarence Peters. He continues, “Hennessy is a very premium brand, and the headliners – M.I and Naeto C – are also top notch. So we’ve created something that complements the brand and personalities while making sure it’s fun and spontaneous. In the video, everyone just blends and flows, and I’m sure the fans will like the result!”.

DUMEBI KACHUKWU VS. LARRY ONUEGBU. FRIENDS AT WAR OVER WEDDING GIFT

Prior to this war, both guys about town were supposedly good friends. Larry is the big dude behind Auto Lounge, at a point that was the biggest and the best Club/lounge for all in Lagos. Larry is not just a club owner he is also an auto dealer, but he doesn't do all kinds, just the wonders-on-wheels like the Maybachs, the Rolls Royce Phantoms and Ghosts, the Bentleys etc, the bigger and more expensive the brands the better. Those are not everyday cars, but he also does the normal ones, at least those ones that readily bring in the money in volume.

Dumebi Kachukwu on the other hand is the very rich dude, who seems to have what some have called the endless pocket, by that they mean the guy is 'madly loaded', some say he his into oil and gas, others just refer to him as a businessman of great means. He his top music star Dbanj’s unrepentant benefactor and has shown his support to the music star in many ways, many times over. 

Both guys, we mean Larry & Dumebi were friends until last week, when a supposed brand spanking new Porsche Cayenne SUV given as a wedding gift to Naeto C & Nicole Chikwe came between them. Why problem over a car gift? You all might be wondering about.

Dumebi is said to have found out after the said SUV had been presented to the couple, that it was not brand new as claimed, also that it was a 2009 model of the SUV, not the 2012 version as supposedly claimed by car dealer. Dumebi's camp claims that the car is second use, that it was first owned by a director at Zenith Bank Plc, and it was from this bank director that Larry bought the car and refurbished and now sold of as brand new and a 2012 edition. Remember it was this car, though now the subject of police investigation that D Banj presented to the newly wedded couple on behalf of Dumebi Kachukwu. 

As always, we not wanting to air just the view of one camp, we sought the view of the other camp over the allegations made. We were able to get to someone very close to Larry and this was what we found out. Dumebi supposedly got the car from Larry to give his former In-laws saying he was going to pay later, apparently both guys have had several dealings before in the past, so there was no problem with taking the car away. Larry's camp is claiming that the car is 2010, that the same SUV was bought last year (2011) at the Porsche Center. The former owner of the car was said to have bought the car brand new, they claim he never used it especially because he didn't like it and he traded in the car. Dumebi is said to have seen the car before it was delivered and he had approved of it. 

Now what is the current situation of things? We hear the car in question is presently packed at a police station somewhere. Does the matter look like it would soon be resolved? We think not. Many egos have been bruised and it’s like its time for each person to claim a pound of flesh. Remember that we posted about how D Banj was sent out of Auto Lounge, Abuja by Larry several weeks ago, apparently that action opened a big wound and this might be the opportunity for pay back.

HENNESSY ARTISTRY ANNOUNCES M.I AND NAETO C AS 2012 HEADLINERS

The headliners for the 2012 edition of Hennessy Artistry have been announced. Hennessy Cognac revealed last week Friday, July 20, 2012 that rappers M.I and Naeto C have been selected to front this year's Hennessy Artistry project.

Hennessy Artistry is an annual project that promotes the blending of cognac with cocktails, music and entertainment, and facilitates experimental collaborations between Nigerian artists, providing a much-needed platform for them to express themselves.

“Every year, we look back and see how much Hennessy Artistry has evolved”, says Hennessy Marketing Manager, Tokini Peterside. “It's been a fulfilling journey these past five years and we are proud to have worked with so many of Nigeria’s most talented musicians. This year’s project is even more significant because we are facilitating a collaboration between two uniquely gifted artistes who to date, have never worked together as a duo.”

As is characteristic of Hennessy Artistry, M.I and Naeto C will record a track together, shoot a video for the track, and perform for fans at different venues across Nigeria.

“I’m definitely excited to be part of this year’s Hennessy Artistry train,” says Naeto C, a best-selling rapper and hit-maker who with hits like ‘Kini Big Deal’ and ’10 over 10’ has influenced Nigerian street lingo more than anyone in his category. “This is my first time as a headliner on Hennessy Artistry, and it's exciting for me because it is a good platform for artistes and the brand also adds great value.”

A prized act at Chocolate City, M.I is no stranger to Hennessy Artistry. He says his third outing on the project is “pleasantly surprising and humbling”. Critically and commercially acclaimed, M.I has won millions of fans for rap music in Nigeria, taking the genre and culture to heights hitherto unreachable.

This year’s Hennessy Artistry project will be the first time that M.I and Naeto are performing together as a duo, and they have promised to deliver the most exciting Artistry track and music video to date. The highly anticipated combination of both hip-hop artistes on Hennessy Artistry is expected to bring forth remarkable music, while creating never-seen-before experiences for fans across Nigeria.

Launched globally by Hennessy in 2006, Hennessy Artistry is an innovative music platform that was created to showcase ‘the art of blending’ by celebrating the vibrant multiculturalism of different music genres - contemporary, hip and inspirational sounds from around the world. Hennessy Artistry kicked off in Nigeria in 2007, with a cocktail mixing contest among renowned bartenders. In 2008, the project pitched some of Nigeria's best disc jockeys against each other in a DJ Battle. In 2009, Hennessy Artistry organized an urban music contest for up and coming artists, which was won by Ice Prince ‘Oleku’ Zamani, who has since gone on to become a major artiste. Hennessy Artistry then orchestrated in 2010 the comeback of Sir Shina Peters, and grouped him on a multi-genre collaboration effort titled ‘Like a Bottle’ with artistes Bez, Nneka, Ice Prince and M.I. This gorgeous couple in the eye of the world, especially the Igbos have been married for a few months now. According to the Igbo tradition once the Igba Nkwu (Traditional Wedding) is done it is as good as anything. But being whom the couple are, many still believed until the Pastor joins together, there’s still that little yet undone. 

So yesterday, July 21, 2012, at the Catholic Church of the Divine Mercy, Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, NaetoChukwu Chikwe better known by all as Naeto C, The only MC with the MSc took as his beloved wife the former Nicole Chukwueke, who was a part time model at a point, to love, to cherish, in richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, for better, for worse, till death do them part. Naeto's beloved mom, is the former Transport Minister who later became the Aviation Minister  Dr. Mrs. Kemafo Nonyerem Chikwe,  the Nigerian Ambassador to Ireland, while Nicole's dad is the Chairman/CEO of Germaine Autos Limited. 

For fear that fans and many uninvited alike, might storm the nuptial ceremony, Naeto had preferred to keep the event on a down low and strictly amongst friends and family members. Even at that we were able to get a few pictures of the ceremony for our readers viewing delight. Check it out. We saw many top Nigerians at the ceremony, some of whom were Former President of the Country Chief Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo, the MD/CEO of Emzor, Stella Okoli, Mr. Wale Babalakin, MD/CEO of Fidelity Bank PLC, Reginald Ihejiani, even Mr. Endowed or is it Oliver Twist or now Oyato D-banj was there and many other guests. We particularly love that Beautiful, Black Rolls-Royce that was the couple's carriage.

Easter Monday 09-04-2012, is the D-day, as all roads would lead to the East of Nigeria (Owerri, Imo State precisely) when the handsome 30 year old son- (Naetochukwu Chikwe) of former Aviation & Transport Minister- Chief Mrs Kema Chikwe- Nigeria's Ambassador to Ireland would be sorting out the 2nd part of his nuptial ceremony to his heartbeat and darling that means the whole world to him- Nicole Chukwueke. Just as the whole world is commemorating the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead in triumph and glory, Naeto C as many know him and his very brilliant love would be sorting out their 'IGBA NKWU' which in Igboland is the most important part of a Nuptial ceremony, this traditional wedding ceremony to the Igbo's is the be it all, some would even prefer to do this and forgo any other.

On Easter Monday, Nicole's dad according to tradition, would pour palm wine for his daughter and she would be asked to go give some to the love of her life, who is her husband to be, once this is done, it's a signal that Naeto is the man that makes her world tick. The wine sharing between the 2 lovers is going to be with some form of drama, once she gets the cup of wine from her dad, she's not expected to just go straight to her man, the drama is her moving around either dancing with her friends till she finally gets to Naeto, who after drinking from the cup, holds his darling and they move towards their parents and the whole family would then pray for them, before the full merriment now begins.

The Lagos leg of the wedding is set for July 21, 2012 and from the feelers we are getting it is planned to be a BIG one. Nicole's elder brother- Ositadimma 'Osi' Umenyiora is the 30 year old Defensive end in the NFL and he plays for the New York Giants, the 2 times Super Bowl champion is expected to storm the country with his retinue of American Super star friends during his sister's wedding. While Naeto C, who is one of the biggest music stars in Nigeria, would be ably supported by all the superstar members of his industry. The Master's degree holder in Energy Studies, Specializing in Energy Economics is said to have chosen very well- according to our very reliable source, who is close to Naeto.

Incidentally, Naeto C and Nicole's elder brother Osi Uwenyiora were school mates at Atlantic Hall, Epe, Lagos before Osi later moved onto Auburn High School, in the US.

While Naeto is a noted fashion buff, we even heard reliably that his eyewear collection is unrivalled by any music star in the country, having many Dita's and Cazals, his love Nicole was at a point into part time modeling and she did well at it. Her dad is the owner of the award-winning auto company-Germaine Auto Centre, whose turnover in 2008 alone was in the region of 11 Billion naira.
