First Africa Fashion Week London Concession Boutique to Open in Lagos in December 2012

 London, 27 September 2012 – The organisers of Africa Fashion Week London are pleased to announce that the first Africa Fashion Week London 2012 concession store Studio 29 is set to launch in Lagos, Nigeria in December 2012.

Having concluded a successful second year of the annual Africa Fashion Week London last month with over 20,000 guests and international press and buyers, AFWL seeks to continue its support of African-inspired designers with this brand new initiative, the first official AFWL concession boutique.

Located on one of the busiest streets of Mainland Lagos at 29 Opebi Road, Ikeja, Studio 29 is the next step in making designers both at home and abroad accessible to their Nigerian clientele by providing a one-stop shop, a chic boutique catering for designers’ retail requirements and the ever-growing fashion-conscious Nigerian clients’ demand for a rich variety of designs by both brand new and established labels in one sophisticated retail space.

Studio 29 will serve as a one-stop point of access for designer brands from different cultural backgrounds across Africa and beyond. At Studio 29 not only are we going to provide our clients a retail space and customer care of international standards but we will also strive to meet diverse needs and requirements of our stockists,” said the founder and manager of Studio 29 and Africa Fashion Week London Ronke Ademiluyi.

Currently taking stock from local and international African designers, some of the benefits Studio 29 has to offer designers include space to display and store up to 50 items every month and publicity and marketing provided via Studio 29/AFWL PR team to all local and international media under the guidance of international fashion and lifestyle publicity brand S TWO PR. Stockists will also be able to book space at the boutique for product launches, sample sales and press days as well as space for photo shoots and meetings.

AFWL FOUNDER RONKE ADEMILUYI COVERS VANGUARD ALLURE

One of the biggest events happening in London this year apart from the Olympics is the Africa Fashion Week London 2012. Set for August 3 and 4, 2012 at the very impressive Spitalfields Market Hall. It would have 60 designers and about 40 exhibitors and the fabulous show is just in its 2nd year. 

The initiator of the annual fashion & lifestyle extravaganza, the biggest gathering of African designers and Africa influenced fashion in Europe is none other than Ronke Ademiluyi, the gorgeous Princess from the cradle of creation, that's according to Ife mythology graced the cover of one of Nigeria's best Lifestyle insert-Vanguard Allure at the weekend. In the interview she revealed what made her set up the platform known to all as AFWL and loads more. 

AFWL Fun DAY Flyering at Westfield

The Africa fashion week London team recently took a trip to Stratford Westfield, to grace the public with their lovely faces and inform them more about AFWL 2012. Everyone was highly enthusiastic, and had a fun and enjoyable time, if you weren’t there you definitely missed out. Some members of the public especially enjoyed posing for the AFWL camera, as if they were already present at the event. Many enjoyed their enthusiasm. The team was able to hand out an amazing amount of about 3000 flyers throughout the day, to the busy crowd traveling through Stratford Westfield. Don’t sleep on them and be alert because they could be visiting a city near you, with their warm and welcoming faces, to bring you the latest info on AFLW, and you definitely don’t want to miss that.

Africa fashion week London will be held during the Olympics and has already been confirmed to be one of the must see events to attend during that weekend. There is expected to be around 20,000+ visitors to AFWL this year and it will be a great opportunity for your brand to be exposed to the diverse visitors/buyers and fashionistas. If you are a fashion lover in general this is an event that can’t be missed as it is an opportunity to get to see the designers that are taking the African fashion industry by storm and more importantly be inspired.

General Admission is free and welcome to all of those who want to see a spectacular show that celebrates African culture.  So mark the 3^rd and 4^th of August on your calendar, because it is guaranteed to be one of the biggest fashion events of the year. With a staggering amount of 50+ designers, most of which are flying over all the way from Africa, to present their amazing work to you on the catwalk, from the likes of world renowned designer Adebayo Jones to the wonderful and talented Anita Quansah, whose work has recently been featured in Vibe magazine. The event will be featuring the biggest and the best of them, so if you haven’t already got your tickets, get them now, to guarantee you get a great view of the show.
