First Africa Fashion Week London Concession Boutique to Open in Lagos in December 2012

London, 27 September 2012 – The organisers of Africa Fashion Week London are pleased to announce that the first Africa Fashion Week London 2012 concession store Studio 29 is set to launch in Lagos, Nigeria in December 2012.

Having concluded a successful second year of the annual Africa Fashion Week London last month with over 20,000 guests and international press and buyers, AFWL seeks to continue its support of African-inspired designers with this brand new initiative, the first official AFWL concession boutique.

Located on one of the busiest streets of Mainland Lagos at 29 Opebi Road, Ikeja, Studio 29 is the next step in making designers both at home and abroad accessible to their Nigerian clientele by providing a one-stop shop, a chic boutique catering for designers’ retail requirements and the ever-growing fashion-conscious Nigerian clients’ demand for a rich variety of designs by both brand new and established labels in one sophisticated retail space.

Studio 29 will serve as a one-stop point of access for designer brands from different cultural backgrounds across Africa and beyond. At Studio 29 not only are we going to provide our clients a retail space and customer care of international standards but we will also strive to meet diverse needs and requirements of our stockists,” said the founder and manager of Studio 29 and Africa Fashion Week London Ronke Ademiluyi.

Currently taking stock from local and international African designers, some of the benefits Studio 29 has to offer designers include space to display and store up to 50 items every month and publicity and marketing provided via Studio 29/AFWL PR team to all local and international media under the guidance of international fashion and lifestyle publicity brand S TWO PR. Stockists will also be able to book space at the boutique for product launches, sample sales and press days as well as space for photo shoots and meetings.

REMI LAGOS IS BACK & SLAMMING- WOWS ALL AT AFWL 2012

It was like resurgence kind of for the brand known to all as Remi Lagos. Prior to this showcase it was like she had gone on hibernation. But by the time her showcase ended at the AFWL 2012. It was like she never went away, apparently she had been cooking some fantastic style dish in background all the while and it took the AFWL 2012 platform for her to serve all, what had been simmering all the while. Boy! Was it well served and everyone really lapped it up. A very big kudos to the veteran. Check out her showcase.

YUTEES FANTASTIC SHOWCASE AT THE AFWL 2012

Just like we had said previously, it's not about how long, but about how good. Yutees before this showcase was more known in her domain in Abuja, the FCT, Nigeria. But after this her first international showcase she has signalled that she's in it to become one of the best. Her use of colour is outstanding, the cut, the styling and the finishing all A-class. We are already gearing up to see more of the brand. Kudos!!!

ELLA & GABBY AT THE AFWL 2012

The Ella & Gabby brand is only a few months old. In that very short period the brand has made a mark in a very fickle industry, where you up today and by tomorrow you are no more. The brand's showcase at the AFWL 2012 showed to the world, that it's not about how long, but majorly about how good. Her showcase hallmarked clean lines and fantastic finishing. It was one showcase that we were particularly proud of. Check it out.

One of the major highlights of this year's edition of the AFWL 2012 was the showcase by veteran designer-Adebayo Jones. His showcase was so impressive, he was greatly applauded. It was a fitting finale we dare say. Check it out.

AFWL 2012 DAY 2- THE OUT & ABOUT AGAIN.

One of the main reasons we love going to fashion events, is because it’s one place you will get to see people doing their very best to outdo themselves on the style stake. You get to see the very uncommonly stylish, the effortless fashionistas/style mavens, all mixed with the hilarious and the downright crazy ones. For us it’s those things that adds colour to every event and we would always do our best to always be at the right places at the right times, so we can bring to your viewing pleasure, the very good, the good, the bad ass and the crazily ugly pictures.

The 2nd day of the AFWL 2012, was by far a more colourful one than the first day, it was like everyone knew very well that it was the last day of the 2 day showcase, so they came out in torrents to see the showcase and also to patronize the exhibitors, 60 designers and 40 exhibitors were part of this year’s AFWL 2012. Just like the first day we were up and about, taking shots after shots of the goings on. In this particular post we have for you over a 100 fantastic shots of the happenstances on the last day of the AFWL 2012. Please enjoy.

MIA NISBET AT THE AFWL 2012

It was the 2nd edition of the AFWL 2012, which took place at the Spitalfields Market Hall, Spitalfields, Brushfield Road, London and it was 2nd time around for the fashion label Mia by Mia Nisbet at the AFWL.

The label founded in 2008 has really done well in the last 4 years, even winning awards, in 2008 at the London Fashion week and another award in 2009. The label's ethos is doing ethical fashion; Mia fuses recycled fabrics and traditional Malawian textiles to produce a collection that combines the richness of African textiles with Western styling.

Her showcase at this year’s event, where about 60 designers showcased was well received by all. Please check it out.
