Nigeria's rave of the moment the fantastic kid wonder known to all as #Wizkid whose real name is Ayo Balogun has dropped the new video for his banger if a hit, Jaiye-jaiye where he featured one of his idol- Femi Kuti. 

The video directed by Sesan, sees the hitmaker in the forest as a caped hero. He is later seen driving around town in a Bentley singing about his plans for his parents and crooning about the changes in his life since hitting it big. In the video the #starboi is seen channeling his top idol Fela, wearing the ankara pant and later on the top looking cool and then performing with Femi at the world famous #african shrine. 

In our opinion, we think its a simple, easy does it video without any unnecessary gimmicks. What we particularly love about the song itself is the reflection on how far now he has come from the days of yore and how thankful to God and appreciative he his.

BANKY W STAGES R&BW: THE GRAND LOVE CONCERT

Lagos, February 1, 2013: Ladies and gentlemen, Banky W is throwing another Lagos party. And this time, it’s for the release of his hugely anticipated genre-defining, industry-shaking album R&BW.

The singer, songwriter and businessman has spent the last few years grooming protégées like Wizkid, Skales and Niyola; running the EME label- currently unarguably Nigeria’s number one music powerhouse.

Now, W is all ready to present his new body of work to millions of fans around the world. And he’s setting it off with an intimate concert this Valentine.

EME has announced plans for the R&BW: “The Grand Love” Concert, saying, in a statement released this morning, that the concert will hold at The Civic Centre on Ozumba Mbadiwe in Victoria Island, Lagos on Friday, February 15, 2013.

It’s just about two months after the massive Baddest Concert, featuring Banky and his label mates. The singer says he’s ready again, to treat fans to the kind of special performance they won’t get anywhere else.

And he’s joined by some of R&B's biggest names, including Wande Coal, Darey, Tiwa Savage, Bez, Blacky and Faze. Other star performers, according to EME, include Lynxxx, Sound Sultan, Iyanya, Praiz, Omawumi, Waje, J Martins, May D, Chidinma and many more to be announced.

Wizkid and Davido Give Special Performance on Stage!

The crowd was in a frenzy last night, Friday, December 21, 2012 as some of Nigeria’s biggest superstars thrilled fans at the first ever EME live-in-concert in Lagos tagged “The Baddest” which held at Oceanview Restaurant in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The grand opening of the unforgettable concert had Wizkid, EME’s First Lady, Niyola and EME crooner, Shaydee sing the Nigerian national anthem kicking off jaw dropping performances from EME all-stars.

Led by EME Boss and R&B wonder, Banky W, the EME crew drove the crowd wild as they performed hit tracks from the “Empire State of Mind” album as well as individual club bangers.

The crew went on to perform alongside other artistes like Cobhams, IcePrince, Wande Coal, D’Prince, Olu Maintain, Samklef, Waje and Iceberg Slim.

One of the many highlights of the epic concert was Wizkid and Davido’s performance. Both artistes came on stage and performed Davido’s monster track, “All of you” to a pulsating crowd who could not get enough of seeing the two artistes on the same stage.

Produced by R28, the event had some of the biggest names in the marketing, advertising and entertainment industry come out to support the EME all-stars.

A VERY BUSY YULETIDE SEASON INDEED!

This is one of the busiest end of the year ever. The days are so packed with activities ,it is totally unbelievable. From today till the end of the month, it is one event/occasion or activities after the other.

Starting from tonite, Thursday, December 20, 2012, there is the Nollywood Xmas with Stars party, which is at the Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos. It is a production of Grandtouch Pictures, where (Mr. Prolific) Chico Ejiro is the Generalissimo. There is also the NMVA 2012. For most who might not know what NMVA is all about, it is this year's edition of the Nigeria's Music Video Awards 2012. The venue we hear is the Expo Hall, Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. The video award showcase began in 2007, so this year's edition is the 5th in the series. 

 Tomorrow, Friday, December 21, 2012 is also packed out. First on the bill is the Christmas Carol party at the Bhive, which is located at Victoria Arobieke Street, Lekki Phase 1. The joint is one of the truly authentic watering holes of the A-class on the Island. This time around the Music Meets the Runway programme 2012. There would be 10 designers and 10 music stars showcasing their diverse talents. Ex-Miss Tanzania, Millen Magesa would be co-hosting with Mr. Entertainer, D Banj. The music stars performing are Davido, May D, Wizkid, Burna Boy, AjeButter22, Naeto C, Iyanya, Efya, Talkoon & Dbanj. Designers showcasing are Moofa, Nkili, April by Kunbi, Tiannah Styling, David Bowler, Kimono Collection, Shakara Couture, Eclectic by Sasha & Andrea Iyamah. The show is set to start at 7PM.

On that same day, but at a different location is another programme that promises to be star studded. It is tagged ''Dance for Life''. It is a production by star actress Monalisa Chinda and it would feature many very prominent Nollywood stars. Venue is the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. And it would start at 4PM.

Xmas day, Tuesday, December 25, 2012 would have the Cool FM PRAISE JAM 2012.

On Thursday, December 27, 2012 is the D-day for the Koko Concert 2012. On that day at Eko Atlantic City, off Ahmadu Bello way, Victoria Island, Lagos. Mr. Entertainer himself, D Banj and friends would rock Lagos to its very foundation. On the same day, but at another venue, there would be a concert headlined by one of the most musically gifted young Nigerian music stars, in the person of Bez. The show is tagged ''BEZ SUPER SUN LIVE CONCERT'' & it would feature the likes of sonorous heavy-weights Omawunmi, Tiwa Savage, Seyi Shay, Waje, Praiz & Timi Dakolo.

International pop star Wizkid says his teeming fans are in for the big thrill this Friday, as he performs in Lagos with his label mates.

The bestselling, MOBO-winning hit-maker who’s had a great year winning laurels and inking big deals, says he’s been rehearsing for weeks, to make sure he delivers an unforgettable set.

The EME concert, tagged ‘The Baddest’, is produced by events company R28, and is the first in a set of big-budget international standard concerts to be promoted by R28 and EME.

Empire Mates Entertainment, Nigeria’s leading record label, has announced that they will round up activities for the year with a ground breaking live-in concert tagged “The Baddest”.

The concert which will hold on Friday, December 21, 2012 at The Grounds, Ocean View restaurant in Victoria Island, Lagos will have the EME superstars led by R&B powerhouse, Banky W and internationally renowned pop star Wizkid thrilling music lovers with some of the greatest hits of 2012.  

Three months after concluding the enormously successful EME North American tour which held in 9 states across North America, EME is once again is set to give fans another unforgettable experience as they usher in the Christmas celebrations.

According to singer, songwriter and EME Chairman, Banky W “The Baddest” concert is a very special gift to our fans for all the support they have shown us throughout the year. What should you expect?   EVERYTHING! You don’t want to miss this… TRUST me… No really… Trust me!”

The label says The BADDEST concert will be the first in a series of specially-designed concerts headlined by Wizkid and Banky, with support from other EME acts and ‘friends of the house, including crowd pleasers selected from home and abroad.

The EME team comprises some of the most talented artistes in Nigeria ranging from internationally recognized stars like Wizkid, Banky W, and Skales to promising acts like Shaydee, Niyola and celebrity disc jockey, DJ Exclusive.

Empire Mates Entertainment has recorded numerous achievements this year including WizKid’s big win at the 2012 BET Award for Best International Act and also The Headies Awards as Artiste of the year.  Banky W scored a major feat as one of the few Nigerians selected to lift the Olympic torch in the UK. He was recently selected as a judge on the MTV Base VJ search competition.

E.M.E Chairman, Banky W, was expected to deliver the very highly anticipated #R&BW album earlier this year... however, in a move that caught his numerous fans and followers by surprise, he postponed the release of his solo material to put the EME Crew in the forefront. 

This turned out to be a good decision for the crew, as 2012 witnessed the release of the "Empire Mates State Of Mind" album arguably Nigeria's biggest and best album this year.

Fans all over the world were thrilled as EME churned out hit song after hit song from the album, with big-budget, and painstakingly produced videos to accompany them. 
Being the creative mind behind the Label, Banky has established EME and its talented artistes in the hearts and minds of millions of fans worldwide.

As a businessman and record executive, he has enjoyed tremendous success. Banky W is accomplished as an M.C/host, having hosted events such as the 2011 Channel O Awards, and many similar high profile events. Banky has also launched his acting career with a Stellar debut recurring role on the final season of MNET's hit TV show "Jacob's Cross". He also remains one of the most relevant voices for Nigeria's youth, taking prominent roles in everything from #LightUpNigeria to the Fuel Subsidy Protests.

The second single, "Good Good Loving" is produced by Spellz. African R&B has never sounded so fresh.

PROMOTER APOLOGISES TO BANKY W AND EME OVER FALSE ALLEGATIONS.

 The allegations against Banky W and the EME crew over the cancellation of the EME concerts in Canada and California have now been proven false.

Promoters of the EME North American tour, Royal entertainment, have issued a statement on their company Facebook page last night apologizing publicly to Banky W and the EME crew. They stated that Banky W and the EME crew should not be held responsible for the cancellation of the shows as reasons for canceling are genuine and unavoidable.

In the press statement, chief promoter and director of Royal Entertainment, Eche-Enzina Emole says “We would like to address the allegations that Banky W. had never planned to be in California. We have come to find out that this information was 100% false. As you can imagine, my partners and I felt betrayed and went on a public tirade against EME, and Banky W. Sparks flew, tempers raged, and certain statements were issued, on twitter and in the Nigerian Entertainment blogosphere, due to the intensity of the situation at hand”

Chairman and Creative Director of EME, Banky W posted on his official twitter handle on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 an apology note to fans on the cancellation of the Canada and California shows and promised that EME will make the remaining EME concerts memorable for their fans. 

Royal Entertainment also went further to say:

“The information presented to me was 100% false. Allegations were made about Banky’s character, and while we may have believed them at the time, those allegations have proven themselves to be completely untrue. To his credit, Mr Wellington and EME acted with dignity through the whole ordeal, and Royal Entertainment would like to publicly apologize for the way we handled the situation. Royal Entertainment would furthermore like to publicly retract what we, or any of our affiliates, have said negatively about Banky W and EME.”

Royal Entertainment also stated in the press statement that they were fully informed about the cancellation and both parties agreed to release a public statement apologizing to fans on the issue but instead, Royal Entertainment and its partners took over social and online media making false allegations against Banky W and the EME crew.

“Further research has brought many things to light, and it’s time to make the situation clear. It is in the interest of everyone to put all of this behind us.” Eche says.

Eche-Enzina Emole concludes “on behalf of Royal Entertainment, EME, Alore Media and all parties involved, Royal Entertainment would like to apologize to the fans, and furthermore promise that we will make every effort to ensure something like this will not happen again.”

Royal Entertainment also made clear that there were no booking fees or deposit of any sort paid to EME for the California show and EME has also agreed to refund to Royal Entertainment the money Royal Entertainment spent on promoting the show. Fans who bought tickets in advance will also get a full refund through the various channels of purchase. When asked about his reaction to Royal Entertainment’s public retraction and apology, Banky W said "We have accepted the apology. It’s time to move on."

These guys are gradually becoming the hardest working crew in the music entertainment business in Nigeria. And with the way they are going they are giving everyone a run for their money. Week in, week out something fantastically delicious is cooked and served to their numerous fans.  One must really commend, EME's Chairman & Creative Director Banky W & Segun Demuren MD/CEO for steering the ship well and truth be told, most of the jams on the 'Empire Mates State of Mind Album really rocks, kudos to you guys. If things continue well like its already going now, Wizkid, Skales, Niyiola and company might soon run everyone out of the market.

So lets get back to the lecture at hand.

Three weeks after kicking off the first-ever EME US tour, the label has announced the release of the first video off the Empire Mates State of Mind Album.

The video, which premiered on Wednesday July 18, 2012, is for the hit song "Baddest Boy" featuring WizKid, Skales & Banky W.

Shot on location in Lagos, Nigeria, the video was directed by Clarence Peters, with cameo appearances by EME’s recent signees Niyola, ShayDee and DJ XClusive.

 “We are promising fans that for at least the next month, we would debut a new video every Wednesday. The move has been dubbed #EMEWednesdays on twitter, and E.M.E fans worldwide are loving it.”  Says Banky W, Chairman & Creative Director, EME records.

The label has also released teasers of the next set of videos to expect, “Dance for me” directed by Sesan and “Get down tonight” directed by Moe Musa.
