PRESIDENCY CALLS THE BLUFF OF SANUSI LAMIDO SANUSI GOVERNOR OF CBN AND IMMEDIATELY APPOINTS AN ACTING GOVERNOR

Apparently the FG couldn't take anymore again, the audacity and impunity with which the erstwhile Governor of the CBN had acted all this while, so they acted today with force, clamping down on the very outspoken Prince of Kano, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi by placing him on suspension, though his tenure was only just remaining a few more months. 


Since the former CBN Governor had said at one time that he couldn't be sacked except by the House of Assembly, many had thought that he had become a bone in the throat of the powers that be in the Presidency and some of their supporters and had felt that the FG would have to make do and manage the so called excesses of the man, till the middle of the year. His outspokenness and his air of invincibility had irked many who had called severally for him to be axed.

But with the suspension placed on him now and the immediate appointment of an acting Governor, the FG might have played a masterstroke and most assuredly might get away with it. The only 2 institutions that might ask for a reversal of the suspension are the House of Assembly & the law courts. 

With the former, they can be convinced to foot drag and just act as if they are enraged while acting out a script. The reason for that might not be unconnected with the fact that the same CBN Governor had at one point accuse them of enjoying unnecessarily the Country's largesse. With the courts, it just depends also, there's just the 50/50 chance of an injunction to maintain status quo ante. If many would readily recall how the FG dealt with the former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Isa Salami of the Judiciary. With all the court injunctions given in favour of Justice Salami; they just continued on as if nothing had happened until the man reached the retirement age and just had to go.

The way it is now, the FG has not fully sacked him, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi might have played into the hands of a thoroughly embarrassed & unforgiven FG. 

So this might be the right time to say bye-bye to the great Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, who came, saw and conquered at the height of his career.  The Prince of Kano's suspension was announced by the SA to the President on Media & Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati who also announced the name of the acting Governor, Dr. Sarah Alade. Dr. Alade is currently the most senior, Deputy Governor at the CBN. 

The 52 years old, would be 53 on July 31, 2014. He was appointed as the CBN Governor on June 3, 2009, succeeding Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo. He would have been

If when madam, Ms Stella Oduah, the owner of the SPG brand was appointed as the Aviation Minister of Nigeria had had any premonition that it was going to be a thankless job like this, we are very sure she would have asked that she be appointed to a less troublesome ministry. 


The hardworking madam, must have been so appointed, especially to this particular lucrative ministry because of the level of support she must have given towards the election of the President. By hindsight now, if she had known this much stress, wahala, abuse etc would follow her stewardship in that ministry she would have gladly allowed another appointee of hers to take charge, while she would clandestinely continue to control things from the background and still be making her good money on the side from the supply of aviation fuel without much fuss. 

Madam Stella instead of getting commendation for various little progresses here and there that she has been making at our airports, is now the butts of jokes, abuses and accusations over 2 major things; One of them is that since she came on board, there has been 2 major air crashes with terrible numbers of fatalities (The Dana Air crash that killed all on board and the more recent Associated Airline crash that killed 15) and a few other mishap totaling 7 in all in 2 years. The second major thing is her acceptance of 2 bulletproof machines known to most as BMW cars said to have cost in the region of $1.6m(about N255M), purchased by the body that should be in charge of anything that has to do with aviation in Nigeria, the NCAA. A body that is under her ministry, but is still supposedly autonomous.

NAMA (FG) VS. ADAMS OSHIOMHOLE- WHAT'S GOING ON?

 The Nigerian Aviation Management Agency (NAMA), yesterday, recalled and grounded an airborne OAS Helicopter ferrying Governor Adams Oshiomhole to Awka, Anambra State for the funeral service of the late Mrs. Colette Obi, wife of Senator Ben Obi, Special Adviser, Political Matters to the President.

Pilot of the helicopter, Captain James Manahash, a Filipino, said "I was surprised that I was recalled after taking-off from Government House because I had communicated with the control tower on radio.

"We were already airborne when we got the call to return to the airport and was even threatened that failure to do so would lead to complete grounding of the aircraft. The governor prevailed on me to return and listen to them.

"When we got back to the airport, I was told to pay landing and aerodrome fees which ordinary we could pay later because we were already airborne.

"Even after completion of the process of payment within 10 minutes, we were still delayed for one hour fifteen minutes. The Governor left in anger after that.

"I am surprised by this development because this is not the first time I would be coming to Benin to fly the governor.

"I was even threatened, after payment, that the aircraft will be grounded completely if I argued with them. I have flown for 35 years, seven of which I spent in Nigeria and this is the first time I am encountering a situation like this. I do not know what problem they have with the governor.”

Managing Director of the OAS Helicopters, Mr Everest Nnaji, who was contacted, expressed shock over the incident, saying that “I am still making calls to find out exactly why they did not allow the pilot fly the helicopter conveying the governor to Anambra state. I am really angry, I don’t know why they did that and that is why I am still trying to make contact because we have no problems with NAMA.

FG OKAYS DANA AIR, LIFTS SUSPENSION

The Federal Government, after conducting what they feel is a thorough aviation audit on Dana Air, has lifted the suspension imposed on the airline in the aftermath of the terrible air-crash that killed all on board a few weeks ago. 

According to the report, Dana Air is said to have passed every test conducted both technical and financial. What this means is that Dana Air can immediately resume normal flight operations.

It's just 4 months since the crash of the Dana Air plane MD 83 with 153 passengers on board and there was no survivor.
