The Executive Chairman and CEO of EbonyLife TV, Africa’s first Global Black Entertainment and Lifestyle network, Mo Abudu, celebrated her 50^th birthday on Saturday, 13 September 2014 at the grand ball room Oriental hotel, Lagos.

Notable Nigerians were present to celebrate with this woman of substance, inspiration and a beacon of hope to many, as she attains this milestone in her exceptional and eventful life. 

The black tie and glam event started with red carpet from 6pm. The event was tagged "Mo@ 50...Celebrating Sisterhood" with the aim of celebrating women of distinction in different categories of life and business. 10 categories of unsung heroes were awarded for their quiet but extraordinary and exemplary achievements. 

Guests at the event included Nigeria’s A-list set Genevive Nnaji, Tiwa Savage, Funke Akindele, Basket Mouth, Julius Agwu, Iyanya, Tonye Cole, Donald Duke, Dele Momodu, Adesuwa Onyenokwe,  Abike Dabiri, Joseph Benjamin, Uti Nwachukwu, Bode Pedro, Uche Pedro, Niyola, Ebuka Obi Uchendu, Pastor Ituah, Mai Atafo, Olisa Adibua, sade kassim, ruth osime, KENNEDY UZOKA,  amongst others.

The event also had a roll call of political dignitaries like Governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Mimiko, Governor of Cross rivers state and his wife, Liyel Imoke and Mrs Obioma Imoke and Donald Duke.

Performers were Tiwa Savage, Chidinma, Seyi Shay, Yinka Davies, Ara, Efya from Ghana, Waje, and others.

The event ended with an after party.

WIZKID IN BAD CAR CRASH, PORSCHE PANAMERA BADLY DAMAGED

 Rave of the moment, the one and only Wizkid just yesterday afternoon Friday, June 14, 2013 escaped death and injury by whiskers. Accident scene was the expressway junction just opposite the Oriental Hotel on the Island. The car involved in the bad car crash was none other than his nearly one month old monster car, the Porsche Panamera 4-door saloon that he took delivery of a few weeks ago. 

We heard that in the car with him were about 2 female companions, who with the star musician escaped without a scratch. According to those at the scene, Wizkid was the 4th person to have been involved in a crash at that same spot that day. 

Yesterday was sure a bad day for the fantastic musician, who is having the best season of his life right now as a musician. But we thank God that he escaped a bad situation with his life and body intact. For that car to be back on the road several millions would have to be expended. We hope he had a comprehensive insurance. As to what caused the accident or what was causing the accidents, we couldn't readily ascertain. 

At least it's the car that got damaged, not our beloved Wizkid.

ROBBERY AT ORIENTAL HOTEL-Yvonne 'Vixen' Ekwerre's TOYOTA CAMRY STOLEN

Imagine you parking your car at a spot and then coming back much later and the car seems to have vaporized into thin air. That was the exact scenario that played early this morning at the Oriental Hotel, along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos.  Yvonne 'vixen' Ekwerre had gone to the hotel to cover 2 events, first party was the YNaija #Hashtag Party and the second event was Florence Ita-Giwa's party (Heard the party was for her daughter's birthday).

Getting to the event venue, the gorgeous Silverbird Television presenter was directed to the other wing of the Oriental Hotel, where people park whenever the space at the main wing is filled up. She went to her different events and made sure to have enough fun, doing what she knows best, at about 1am, it was now time to go home. Alas! The car, a Toyota Camry had disappeared into thin air, thinking whether she might have parked somewhere else, she went in search of the car, until reality hit after a while, that her car had been stolen. Apparently someone who must have had a master key and was probably lurking around at the car park opened the car and just drove away.

From our little findings, though not fully confirmed yet, that about the Fourth car stolen at the Hotel's car park. The curious thing from what we learnt is that the security guys at the hotel do not seem to care, not only that there is supposed to be security cameras monitoring the car park, whether it is functioning or not is another business. A lady whose car was stolen at the same park not long before this new one, was said to have gone to the gutter to check if by chance the car could have fallen in there. 

We heard that all effort to get the hotel management to show Vixen the CCTV footage proved abortive, firstly the Chief Security Officer at that part of the Hotel was Chinese and he couldn't speak English, also some of the security details at the other part said the management of the other part where the car was stolen was not their concern.

So what do we do now? Once you all are going to the Oriental Hotel for any reason. You are parking at your own risk. Chikena!!!!
