THE GLAM SQUAD PARADE AT THE 2014 ARQIVA TV BAFTA AWARDS

RICHARD AYOADE

OONA CHAPLIN

MO FARAH

NAOMI CAMPBELL

While the Billboard Awards 2014 held across the pond to a resounding success and applauds, with one of the day's highlight being the re-awakening of the Legend Michael Jackson from the dead, via the hologram and Justin Timberlake sweeping 7 out of the awards he was nominated for; In the UK it was the TV version of the famous BAFTAS that held and to a resounding applause too. And the venue was

Stars and celebrities alike came in great numbers, making sure to put the very best foot forward style-wise. Many played it safe, choosing black as their favourite colour. It was like Goth was the required style preference. One of those that didn't disappoint was Richard Ayoade, the English comedian, writer, actor, TV presenter & director who a few years ago was named one of the best dressed by GQ Magazine. His father is a Nigerian & mom a Norwegian. Spanish actress Oona Chaplin & her partner were apparently inspired by Africa in the dressing.

OUT & ABOUT AT THE 2014 VODAFONE GHANA MUSIC AWARDS RED CARPET

YVONNE OKORO
DEBORAH VANESSA
JOSELYN DUMAS
ANDREA GIACCAGLIA

We were in Accra, Ghana all through the weekend to be a part of the pre-, main event & post VGMA's courtesy SoundCity Ghana. On the same Aero Contractors flight to Accra were 3 of the hottest Veejays in Nigeria-Adams, Pearl & Elma, plus Sharon Ojong and Tope Esan. We all had a hilarious time from the stress of getting to the airport, to the over 1 hour plus delay waiting for our flight, to our arrival at the Kotoka International airport in Acrra, Ghana where we met D1 and his crew, to getting to our hotel- the Mirage Hotel, East Legon & Golden Tulip Hotel. It was fun all the way.

There were many fun Pre-awards party, but the only one we went to was the one powered by SoundCity Ghana in collaboration with Club 45, which is probably the biggest club in Accra, Ghana. Housed in a massive 1 storey building in a massive compound, place was okay enough to hold one of the biggest parties in town in Accra that night.

People came in torrents, because the pre-award's party was very well advertised on radio and the social media in Ghana. Imagine people paying 100 Ghana Cedis (that's about 35 dollars) to come party with the likes of Nyanya, Emma Nyra, Davido and co. Though the stars didn't land at the party till about 3 am, the curious fans waited all the while.

Though we didn't stay all through, those who did said it was a fun early till the early morning. We saw the likes of Andrea Giacagglia, Eliakem & Pokello and very many other stays & celebs at the party. The kind of erotic dance steps we saw Pokello doing for her beau at the party, was better seen than imagined.

The evening of the that early morning was the VGMA itself. Though we changed our mind about going to the main event, we heard from those who went that, it was a good event and that the red carpet was superb. Instead we went to the out of this world after party at the Twist Nite Club.

From when we got to the club at 12 midnight, till we left at about 4.45 am it was superb mix, great fun and hilarious enjoyment all through. We left many at the venue who later told us, they were still at the venue till 6 am. The deejay at the club is probably one of the best in town. Though we were the first to arrive, before we knew it, the place was jam-packed with revelers.

We have here for your viewing pleasure, a few pictures of the Red Carpet at the 2014 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards courtesy ''that 1960's chick''.  Thereafter the first 13 pictures,  are a few pictures of the Pre-party (warm up party) at club 45.

Please check it out.

OMOTOLA JALADE EKEINDE, NGOZI OKONJO-IWEALA AND OTHERS AT THE TIME 100 GALA

OMOTOLA JALADE-EKEINDE
NGOZI OKONJO-IWEALA
UZO ADUBA
GAYLE KING
PADMA LAKSHMI

Our very own star actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, who is gradually becoming a well recognized international star, joined our Finance Minister/Coordinating Minister in charge of the Economy at the Time 100 Gala 2014 red carpet on Tuesday, April 29, 2014.  Omo-Sexy like many of we her fans love to call her sizzled in a red outfit, that had a white applique with black trimmings at the front.

You all would recall that 2 top Nigerians, in the person of world's richest black man Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the President of the Dangote Group of Companies and Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, one of Nigeria's most influential person, were both listed amongst the very distinguished personalities that made up Time 100 Most Influential People in the World. In fact Aliko Dangote's accolade was written by the world's richest person, in the person of Bill Gates. While that of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was done by no less a personage than Bono of the world famous U2 band.

It was a night of glamour and pizazz to celebrate those that were listed in that illustrious company. While the dress-code was supposed to have been black-tie, all glam outfits many came just dressed as they felt. Also many of those listed were clearly absent at the event. 2 of those missing in action were the Cover girl on this year's edition of the Time 100 publication, in the person of Beyonce and also our own Alhaji Aliko Dangote.

SCINTILLATING 50TH BIRTHDAY OF THE ICONIC RUTH OSIME. WHERE AT LEAST 3 SITTING GOVERNORS WERE PRESENT

GOVERNOR BABATUNDE FASHOLA, RUTH'S MOM & RUTH OSIME
RUTH OSIME
SONNIE AYERE, GRACE OSIME, RUTH, HER MOM & OMOME
.......LET'S GROOVE TONITE

You all already know that the This Day Style Editor, Ms. Ruth Osime clocked the big 5-0 last week Friday, February 7, 2014. And to celebrate her Jubilee year, she invited friends, family members, staff members and more to a classy shindig that held at the Red Carpet Hall, in Lekki Area on the Island. To have 3 sitting Governors of powerful states in Nigeria at your birthday is no joke at all, supported by at least 2 first ladies- Dame Abimbola Fashola & Mrs. Obioma Liyel Imoke of Cross Rivers.

To show that she's a jolly good 'fellow' or should we use 'chapess', people from all over came to celebrate our very dear own ''Anna Wintour''. Like we had said before or predicted before, it was a who-is-who gathering, made up of the young, the young at heart, and some not so young ones.

Some of those that we saw at the party were the likes of Governors Babatunde Fashola of Lagos, Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers & Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta. Others were the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Chukwuemeka Ihedioha,  Senator Daisy Danjuma, the gorgeous mom of the birthday gal, her younger siblings Grace Osime & Omome, Ebony Life TV MD Mo Abudu, Sonnie & Betty Irabor, Esosa Anenih, Pastor Tony Rapu of TPH, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, Willie & Nkiru Anumudu, Vivienne Chioloji, Akin Olopade of Afromedia, UBA director Celine Loader, Debbie Oghene, Kehinde Ebie, Nina & Muka, Segun Sebanjo, Ngozi Onu, Sonnie Ayere, Sola Oduwole, Gbemi Shasore, Mojoyin Dekalu-Thomas, Peter & Olu Adegbeyi, Femi & Aima Lijadu, Moji Akinsanya, Adeola Adewunmi, Yetunde Allen, Fola & Lanre Ogunlesi, Ndidi Obioha, Owen & Elohor Aisien, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Folake Folarin-Coker, Chalya Shagaya, Veronica Ebie-Odeka, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi, Jumoke Adegbenro, Lara Rawa & very many others.

From the little report we got, it was a first class shindig all the way, so much to drink & munch, with good music blasting all the way, making many still believe they are still very young. So much fun was it that we had people were still there till the wee hours of the morning. It was also a fashion fest sort of for the ladies, all looking good for the red carpet, knowing fully well they would be photographed. Birthday darling had 2 changes of outfits, first was a white outfit & 2nd was a black one, we totally love her short hair do, took years away from her. The delighted one showed her dexterity on the dance floor in joy to the admiration of all. No matter how or what anyone thinks, as long as you are happy with yourself, no one can dampen your spirit. Way to go Ruth. Many more great years ahead.

We have a couple of pictures of the birthday shindig for your good viewing pleasure.

Enjoy!!!Praaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

RED CARPET AT THE MULTICHOICE @ 20 & CHAIRMAN'S BALL PARTY AS COVERED BY MAESTRO'S MEDIA

MO ABUDU
BIOLA ALABI
FUNKE AKINDELE
EKU EDEWOR
YVONNE 'VIXEN' EKWERRE
We thought we should separate fashion and style on the red carpet at the event from the other business of the day. This report is just a focus on how the guests dressed for & to the event.

Remember from the other report that the event's dress-code was black-tie and formal African attire.

Knowing many in Nigeria for always flouting the rules of engagement especially style-wise, we had thought we should focus just on the red carpet to see how the guest fared on the style stake and at being event style appropriate.

Some of those we thought were on point were the likes of Mo Abudu, Yvonne 'Vixen' Ekwerre, Biola Alabi , Funke Akindele, Chinedu Ikedieze & a few others.

Check em' out, just like we saw them too.
