Ejiro Amos-Tafiri was born in the vibrant city of Lagos and attended Tai Solarin's Mayflower junior school and had secondary education at Queen's College Yaba.
Although she had a background in basic science and an eye on a medical career,she soon delved into her core area of interest. She had always had a thing for the arts and ended up enrolling at the Yaba College of Science and Technology where she studied Fashion and eventually graduated summa cum laude, obtaining a Distinction Grade as well as a Best Student award.
After graduation, she worked briefly at Out of Africa, a fashion house in Lagos, as a production assistant and a junior designer while waiting to be called up for the National Youth Service Corps. During this time, she rose through the ranks to become chief designer. The prior training that she acquired while doing an undergraduate internship at Zizi Ethnic Clothing and Tiffany Amber was proving valuable.
In pursuit of greater challenges, she moved back to Tiffany Amber as a Creative assistant to the Creative Director. Under careful tutelage, her talent was honed till she became the head designer of the design team. She was privileged to witness and work on collections that showed at local and international fashion shows during this period. A few of which are:
- FAFA Kenya - Fashion for Peace, Nairobi Kenya 2009
- Arise Africa Fashion week Jo'hannesburg South Africa 2009
- New York Fashion Week spring/summer 2009.
- Face Of Africa 2010, Lagos Nigeria
Ejiro has participated in several exhibitions and fashion shows, always with the intent and passion to start her own label. Such as:
- Stars on the Runway 2007
- Creative Academii reality T.V show 2006 from which she emerged the winner in the Fashion category.
- Ade Bakare young designers competition 2007.
- Moments with Mo young designers competion 2008.
In March 2010 she took a bold step to start her own label EJIRO AMOS TAFIRI.
'We take pride in the production of wearable clothing and accessories inspired by vibrant, fun-loving, 'joie de vive' culture of the Lagos people and the cultural diversity of its populace which spans the globe.
Creativity and excellent craftsmanship are our watchword.
Our services include a ready-to-wear line consisting of items of clothing and accessories that caters to women and men. We also offer dress-making and 'haute couture' services to our esteemed clients'.
In December 2010 she participated in FADAN talent hunt 2,emerged best evening wear and first runner up prizes,also in December 2010 showcased at Nigerian Television Fashion Show Reloaded 2,the brand shows regularly at LPM.
EJIRO AMOS TAFIRI is currently billed to show at the Arise Fashion Week in Lagos March 2011 and selected to represent Nigeria in Origin of Africa Fashion Week in Maurites March 2011.
