All is set for the fifth edition of the Lagos Cocktail Week (LCW), the 3-day fiesta highlighting the best of the Nigerian cocktail scene. The event, set to kick off on the 16th and end on the 18th of October 2018 at the Federal Palace Hotel, is known as the place where cocktail enthusiasts and international drinks brands come together in a vibrant atmosphere of the cocktail village with highlights like a conference and the much-anticipated bar battle on the final day.
The LCW was launched in Nigeria four years ago by Eventi Cocktails, with participation from leading Nigerian and international partners and brands including: Johnny Walker, Ketel One Vodka, Ciroc, Tanqueray 10, The Wheatbaker and Intercontinental Hotel. The event has on location the best bars in Lagos, with sensational displays by top mixologists in the business. Past festivals have had strong representation from major bars and clubs in Lagos.
According to Lara Rawa, founder of LCW, “the 2018 edition of the conference will also mark the commencement of the LCW2018 Awards, which serves as a platform for the celebration and promotion of the cocktail culture in Nigeria and recognition of outstanding achievers in the industry. This is in line with our mission which has always been for the cocktail industry at to be recognized as an essential part of the Nigerian beverage industry.”
Expectations for the 2018 edition of the conference are high, with celebrities and influencers participating in a bar crawl on the 4th of October to promote the LCW. This will be followed by the LCW itself, which kicks off on the 16th of October. The grand finale of the conference will take place on October 18th and will feature the popular bar battle and the LCW Awards.
Ms Rawa also stated, “the LCW2018 is looking to take things a notch higher in 2018. We are engaging other leading international brands and individuals to make it bigger than ever. Our theme this year is ‘vintage, fresh, original,’ which is meant to depict the evolution of the drinks and cocktail industry in Nigeria.”
The 2018 edition of the Lagos Cocktail Week is supported by Fayrouz, Ketel One, Tanqueray 10, Johnnie Walker, Sky Vodka, Belvedere Vodka, Glenmorangie, American Honey and official travel partners, Wontra Travels.
