Our picture(s) of the day has 5 style icons in focus. One is royalty to the core in the person of Olori Ladun Sijuwade, one of the Oloris(wives) of one of the most flamboyant kings to hail from Nigeria, Africa, in the person of His Royal Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse the 2nd. HRM Oba Sijuwade rules over Ife, which some adherents believe is the cradle of civilisation. Olori Ladun is one of Nigeria's top enduring beauties of all times. She hasn't aged since we have known her and we are just of the belief, that she has a very good helping of the dew or fountain of youthfulness flowing through her veins. The grandmother is always effortlessly stylish.

Another of our subject, is the ageless Yeyeoge of Lagos, that means (Mother of Style of the Centre of Excellence and Aquatic Splendour) in the person of the one and the only, Chief Mrs. Opral Benson, the wife of the late Adekilumo of Lagos, the late Otunba TOS Benson SAN,CFR. Madam is royalty in her own way. She's one of the pioneers of the school of beauty in Nigeria, still ever so stylish at an old age.

Another of our subject, is the incredibly gorgeous fashionista of note, known to many as Senator Daisy Danjuma. The 60 plus epitome of grace, style and charm is the loving wife of one of Nigeria's wealthiest men, in the person of General TY Danjuma rtd, who is the former Chief of Army Staff of the Nigerian Army. Senator Daisy Ehanire Danjuma, is the Executive Vice Chairman of Sapetro, one of her husband's major investment. Sapetro were the main supporter of the AFWN 2014. One of madam's son just got married a few weeks ago, and she's eagerly awaiting the birth of her grandchild.

Not left out of this group, is the newly resurgent Biola Okoya, the incredibly stylish daughter of billionaire industrialist Chief Rasaq Akanni Okoya, the man behind the Eleganza fame. Biola of late, has enjoyed doing the 'Houdini' coined from the name of the famous magician of yore, known for his art of disappearing and appearing. Though she has recoiled a bit from the lime light of late, Biola is still as stylish as they, and stupendously gorgeous, her skin seem to glow with a super radiance that we would love to find out about the secret. At 40 plus, she's still a delight to look at any day

Last but not the least in the group snapshot is none other than Kemi Adewunmi, another very graceful connector, who only just clocked 50 a few months ago and had a glorious birthday celebration party at the InterContinental Hotel, Victoria Island to mark the birthday. She is said to be a silent power broker, who is very sympathetic to the cause of the party at the centre.

The 5 ladies were all seen together at the maiden edition of the Africa Fashion Week Nigeria Gala Night held at the main hall of the Eko Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The maiden edition of the Africa Fashion Week Nigeria, an off shoot of the very successful Africa Fashion Week London which is in her 3rd season held on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the main hall of the Eko Hotel. Victoria Island, Lagos.

Truth be told, all other existing fashion shows had better take heed and that's because the AFWN has arrived with a bang and is going to give all comers a serious run for their money from now on. Many didn't give this fashion showcase a chance to succeed, but on the day of the event and at the end of the day, with what many saw, the only thing most could say was that the organisers did a fantastic job and that they were astounded beyond measure, first by the fantastic organisation that was obvious, then also by the showcase of talents that was displayed.

The AFWN platform was specially created by the founder Ronke Ademiluyi to give the required opportunity to super talented, but unknown designers who without opportunities like this might not have gotten the encouragement, the necessary push and launch pad to make a career out of their passion.

By virtue of the AFWN, many unknown designers who most assuredly would have given many of the well established ones, a big run for their money were discovered. So very soon, prepare to hear about some unknown creative gems taking the scene by storm to the delight of many.

A very big thank you to Senator Daisy Danjuma for her massive support and for her putting her money where her mouth is.

The event venue was the the city and municipality in southern Spain called Marbella. The Danjumas are reputed to own several on point properties there. It is Senator Daisy Danjuma's home away from home, her beloved city that she has always had a love affair with. Thus the city was bestowed the honour of hosting the families and friends of the the 2 families involved. The event was the 2nd & final leg of the wedding of the 1st son of the gorgeous and ageless Senator Daisy Danjuma, the wife of General TY Danjuma retd.

DAISY DANJUMA'S CLASSY 61ST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

 The ever gorgeous Senator Daisy Danjuma is the wife of one of Nigeria's richest men,  and by extension Africa in the person of General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, a former Chief of Army Staff and a philanthropist par excellence. From the little we have gathered about the fantastic lady, she's a good shoulder to lean on and a woman with a great heart, who is also a collector of Diamonds; those incredibly gorgeous rocks that separates the rich from the very liquid. 

Aunty Daisy like many call her, who is one of Nigeria's most gorgeous ladies, was 61 a few weeks ago. Wow!!! She's Leo no wonder, leadership is a part and parcel of her being. 

To celebrate her, one of the most prestigious champagne brands in the world Dom Perignon gathered about 50 topnotch guests to converge at prestigious Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi, Lagos in her honour, date was August 6, 2013. 

Incidentally the gorgeous boutique hotel, known to be one of the best around is one of the investments reportedly owned by Danjuma family.

HAPPY BIRTHDAYS TO DAISY DANJUMA & HAJIA ABAH FOLAWIYO

Still on birthday celebrations, 2 of our notable socialites and style icons clocked very significant ages very recently. The younger of the 2, Mrs. Daisy Danjuma was at a time a Senator of the Federal Republic and she represented Edo State at the National Assembly, her well-known Billionaire Husband, was the former Defence Minister in Nigeria. General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma(Rtd), was the Chief of Army Staff during the Muritala Mohammed/Olusegun Obasanjo regime(1975 to 1979), he his the Chairman of South Atlantic Petroleum, he is rated by Forbes as one of the richest African's in the world and also as Nigeria's biggest Philanthropist. 

His very gorgeous and amiable wife, the extraordinarily stylish Daisy Danjuma, who legend says owns some of the best collection of Diamonds in Nigeria would be 60 years old on August 6, 2012, and we hear that the celebration is upcoming in Marbella, Spain, though a much subdued one than expected, having only close knit family members and friends in attendance. The choice of location for the birthday soiree is because it’s like Daisy's home away from home. Many had expected a lively shindig, but that might still come. 

The 2nd person Hajia Abah Folawiyo also needs no introduction, she's the wife another famous billionaire, the Late industrialist and Baba Adinni of Nigeria, Alhaji Chief (Dr.)AbdulWahab Iyanda Folawiyo, who died about 4 years ago. Sisi Abah like many call her was 70 on Sunday, July 22, 2012, Segun Awolowo Junior's mom is one of Nigeria's noted fashion icons, and her fashion brand Labanella Fashion House was the preferred brand amongst the top socialites and celebrities in the 80's & 90's. Instead of the well-loved Abah to throw a big party in celebration of reaching the monumental age (70 years old), she decided to instead reflect rather quietly on God's benevolence, thanking the Almighty God without making too much noise about it. 

We would love to say Happy Birthday to the gorgeous ladies, though a belated one to Sisi Abah .
