OBA's AT WAR PART 2. OBA OF LAGOS DEBUNKS FEUD & SNUB JUST FOLLOWING TRADITION

OONI OF IFE, AROLE ODUA

THE EVENT THAT SPARKED THE FIRE
OLOWO EKO, OBA OF LAGOS

The report on the snub of the Ooni of Ife, Adimula Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi by the Oba of Lagos, the Olowo Eko, Oba Rilwan Akiolu met a lot of very negative reaction, with many voicing their heartfelt opinions and some openly castigating the Oba of Lagos for bad judgement and outright disrespect of a very revered stool.

In an attempt at explaining what actually happened on the day, and by extension debunking the stories of any FEUD or disrespect of any kind, the Oba of Lagos's representative's explanations has raised more questions than answers.

More after the break. Click on read more..

According to his representative, the Opeoluwa Onido, Chief Lateef Aderibigbe Ajose, one of the revered white cap chiefs, Kabiyesi the Oba of Lagos, is someone that is well steeped in the culture and tradition of Lagos and the Yorubas, so by virtue of that alone it is impossible for him to have ignored nor snubbed the Ooni, as misconstrued and misconceived by people.

Going further, Chief Ajose explained that, the way the Oba of Lagos greeted or responded to the greetings of the Arole Odua is the "culturally acclaimed" way a monarch in Lagos greets and that Kabiyesi was trying to revive the old ways. The old ways here refers to "the culture and tradition of ancient Lagos", that's peculiar to her. That tradition of greeting, signifies according to him, "Inu mi, Inu e" which when loosely translated means "Your heart, my heart". The Opeoluwa Onido went further to state that if Oba Akiolu had wanted to snub or ignore the Adimula, he would have just carried his face away or turned his face, which he didn't do.

So what happened is a royal way of greeting peculiar to Lagos.......... hmmmm. So according to the chief, naysayers should go to bed with their stories that touch, as there's no feud, neither any reasons for disrespect at all. Both Obas enjoy very cordial relationship.

But according to a little bird that whispered something to us, the attempt to sweep things under the carpet is just an attempt, what happened which has elicited a lot of unprecedented negative reactions. might have occurred because of some money that is owed by one to another. So that public snub, in actual fact might just have been a reminder of private business going awry and becoming public business. The person insisted that the Oba of Lagos was actually just acting true to type himself,......being a no nonsense person. After all they are both revered royal fathers !
