BREAKING NEWS: COURT DIRECTS IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF AFRICAN BILLIONAIRE BUSINESSMAN BENEDICT PETERS’ PROPERTIES IN THE UK

 The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has, today 6 July 2018, directed the immediate release of two properties located in the United Kingdom belonging to African Billionaire businessman and Aiteo boss Benedict Peters which had been the subject of an Interim Forfeiture Order obtained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2016, allegedly in the course of its investigation of allegations of corruption against the former Petroleum Minister, Mrs Dieziani Alison-Madueke.

By this decision, the court has upheld Peters’ case that the properties wholly belonged to him; was unconnected to any activities of the former minister and were unlawfully as well as unjustifiably included in a list of properties the Commission tried to seize.  The judge, Mrs Justice Nyarko found that a court of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) being competent and coordinate jurisdiction had, in a judgment in separate proceedings, made significant findings with respect to Peters’ means of livelihood.

 The judge ruled that the same court had confirmed his legitimate acquisition of a number of London-based properties including the two properties at Flat 5, Parkview, 83-86 Prince Albert Road as well as Flat 58 Harley House, Marylebone Road, both in London
and had declared that those assets were insusceptible to forfeiture under any circumstance.  

Justice Nyarko directed that in that event, those properties could not continue to be restrained by the order EFCC had obtained and directed that the properties be released to Peters immediately. Full Report to follow.

Benedict Peters wins again - Abuja High Court Grants “Stay of Action” Regarding Racially and Religiously Prejudiced Persecution

 

The National Crime Agency of the United Kingdom, The Crown Prosecution Service (UK) alongside other foreign-based defendants and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been dealt a huge blow in the case against Aiteo Boss, Billionaire Benedict Peters. A High Court sitting in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Monday June 25, 2018, ordered the parties to maintain the status quo until the hearing of the main issues in the case.

Benedict Peters demanded $5billion in compensation, for what he describes as a series of unlawful and fraudulent conspiracies allegedly organised by the EFCC, AGF, the National Crime Agency and Crown Prosecution Service (UK) and individuals, Helen Hughes, Stacey Boniface, and John Bavister, “to expropriate by intimidation, assets, properties, monies to which he is legitimately entitled.”

In suit number FCT/HC/CV0536/17, the court has heard that properties belonging exclusively to  Benedict Peters were wrongfully included in a list of properties alleged to belong to Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, the former Minister of Petroleum in Nigeria, and that despite abundant evidence showing that Peters owned the properties, the defendants maliciously and deliberately continued to suppress the information with the intent not only to permanently deprive him of the properties but to destroy him as well as his business interests.  In the proceedings, which has been described as falling within the “fraud of Carousel Tort”, the plaintiff seeks judicial protection and compensation.

AITEO BOSS BEN PETERS WINS AGAIN AS JUDGE DECLARES EFCC HAD & HAS NO POWER TO DECLARE ANY WANTED!

Another good one for billionaire oil magnate, Benedict Peters, the founder and boss of AITEO as he wins another victory in his battle with the EFCC to clear his name. A judge declared just yesterday , Thursday March 22, 2018 that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the government organisation set up to fight financial crimes has no right whatsoever to declare Mr. Benny Peters or any other person for that matter, wanted.

The way the judge puts it, declaring anyone wanted by the EFCC is tantamount to over stepping their boundaries, as it's only a court that can grant that sort of approval.

In a ruling in Abuja, the FCT by Justice Othman Musa of the Federal High Court Abuja he quashed the EFCC's declaration, describing it as, unlawful, illegal and unconstitutional and even went further to ask that the EFCC should apologize to Mr Peters!

Not still ending it at that, Justice Othman went further to say that the EFCC cannot declare anyone (any Nigerian) at all wanted without first obtaining an approval from a court of competent jurisdiction.

The EFCC towards their investigation in 2016 against the backdrop of the case of electoral fundings in connection with the 2015 election and other related matters, had declared the hard working businessman wanted. But not satisfied with the EFCC, the businessman through his lawyers had immediately instituted a case against the commission, siting infringement of his fundamental human rights and asking the judge to declare the actions of the commission, unlawful, illegal and unconstitutional, and that their declaration be quashed and a written apology be made to him. With yesterday's pronouncement by the Abuja court, Benedict Peters got all the relief he had sought/asked for.

1. Born in Abakaliki
Although of Delta State origin, Benedict Peters was born in Abakaliki, the capital of present-day Ebonyi State on December 5, 1966 to a middle class family. He and five other siblings were raised by their banker father and a homemaker mother. Formal education began at Ekulu Primary School, Enugu, from which he proceeded to Federal Government College, also in Enugu.

2. Graduate of UNIBEN
He graduated from the University of Benin (UNIBEN) with a B.Sc. degree in Geography and Urban Planning in 1989 at the age of 22. His father retired from banking while he was at the university, prompting the young Peters to develop entrepreneurial skills ahead of many of his contemporaries.

3. Tomato and cocoa trader
After graduation, an enterprising Peters became a cross-country merchant with interests in agricultural produce. He started with large-scale trading of tomatoes from northern Nigeria to the south and trading in cocoa for local consumption and export. Sale of new and used cars, vehicle spare parts and real estate were some of his other early business interests.

4. From banking to Ocean and Oil
The seed of what would later become a flourishing career in oil and gas was sown at Union Bank where Peters did his mandatory one-year National Youth Service. A job offer by the bank was politely turned down for a chance to build a fortune from his relationship with Wale Tinubu, Jite Okoloko and Mofe Boyo of Ocean and Oil.

5. Managing Director of MRS
Convinced of Peters’ competence and far-reaching influence, Alhaji Sayyu Dantata head-hunted him to join MRS Oil Nigeria Plc as Group Executive Director in 1994, followed by promotion to the position of Managing Director. In no time, the company became a prime player in the downstream sector of the oil and gas industry. Peters wrote his name into MRS folklore in five short but eventful years.

In what can be considered as a masterstroke of a victory and also a breath of air for him, the high court in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory today declared and quashed the allegations of multiple money laundering charges and bribery of electoral officials allegations against holidaying oil and gas magnate Mr. Benedict Peters and one of his several companies, Northern Belt.

In the same vein and still via the same court, it was also declared that the $60 million dollars donation by Mr. Peters and his company to the then ruling party, the PDP was a legal donation and also was constitutional and not in breach of any laws of the land. 

With this declaration by the court, the AITEO boss, most definitely would be in a great mood as the somewhat dark cloud that had hung over him and his business for quite a bit now, is been dissipated gradually.

Mr. Benedict "Benny" Peters is the elusive businessman oil tycoon behind the oil and gas concern by name AITEO where he is the founder and Executive Vice Chairman. The brand is among the biggest players in that field in Nigeria, and with a high stake in the oil field known as OML 29 which they had bought in 2014 in the heydays of the Goodluck Jonathan administration for $2.58 billion, under the keep of the embattled former Petroleum Resources Minister, Mrs. Dieziani Allison-Madueke.
