UBA’s REDTV to Light Up #UBAmarketplace 2019 With Creative Panel Sessions, Fashion Shows, Cinema, Concert

Youths and adults alike are in for a great time at the #UBAMarketplace2019 as UBA’s award winning online network, REDTV has lined up a number of exciting acts to keep visitors and participants entertained during the two-day event which will take place on July 26th and 27th 2019.

The UBAMarketplace2019 will be held on the sidelines of the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Forum - the largest gathering of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Africa.

The over 20,000 expected guests will be treated to a lot of  entertainment, panel sessions, fashion, fun, comedy, relaxation and will have the unique opportunity to meet with some of their favourite stars and celebrities.

Africa’s star boy Wizkid will sit with UBA’s GMD, Kennedy Uzoka, in a fireside chat with the theme ‘Stars & Suits: Afropop meets High Finance’ as Richard Mofe Damijo, the top Nollywood icon, will sit in a movie panel session with Cynthia Nassardine, Cote D’ivoire’s darling; top Movie producer/director, Tunde Kelani to discuss the theme ‘The Big Picture: Business of film making’ and how entrepreneurs from Africa can benefit from the enterprise. The panel will be moderated by REDTV’s Executive Producer and Group Director for Communciations at UBA,, Bola Atta. 

 The music industry will not be left out at the UBA marketplace as Dj Cuppy, Dj Neptune and Pheelz the Producer will discuss on the theme ‘Booth to Bank: How the beat becomes the profit’.

Uzoka who spoke about the event, stated ‘UBA has always been at the forefront of entrepreneurship across Africa, undertaking many projects aimed at contributing to and supporting Africa’s growth and economic integration. The birth of the UBA marketplace and this entrepreneurial fair is a testament to our commitment to African SMEs’

Uzoka added that with the fair, UBA seeks to touch base with small business owners and to continue to positively affect the lives of entrepreneurs doing business in its countries of operations and beyond’.  “I think everyone realises that we need to prioritise the private sector. We need to encourage entrepreneurship and the youths. This is the driving factor and the major reason why we are organising an event of this magnitude’ he said.

Other side attractions at the Redzone will be the screening of the Lion King Movie and Bling Lagosians; fashion shows; treasure hunts, Kiddies corner as well as a Founder’s Day pitch event, where beneficiaries of the Tony Elumelu Foundation will be presented a platform to pitch their businesses with a grand prize of a grant, courtesy of UBA.

TIWA SAVAGE TEASES OTEDOLA IN NEW SINGLE

“Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent,” a philosopher named Victor Hugo once said. This quote must have held true for the Queen of Afro Pop, Tiwa Savage, as her latest single titled ‘Tiwa’s Vibe’ reveals. In the feel-good, mid-tempo song produced by Spellz and released two days ago, the Mavin Records' First Lady expresses that which is impossible for her to be silent about. She sings:

While nobody can say for a fact what motivated the multiple award winning songress's serenading line,she is no doubt extolling the benevolence and at the same time appealing to the fantasy of Chairman of Forte Oil Plc, Femi Otedola, whose generosity is legendary and who has been benefactor for many artistes . Tiwa became the first artiste to bag an endorsement deal with an oil and gas brand in Nigeria when Forte Oil chose her to be its brand ambassador. That campaign was one of Tiwa's first upon her return to the music business after she had taken a long maternity leave away from the music scene.

That Tiwa considers F.O. ( acronym for Femi Otedola) as a godfather is not in doubt, and she does not make any pretense about this. Her social media platforms are replete with images showing her affinity to the man who has continued to be a pillar of support for her. Otedola's daugher, Florence Otedola, notably known as DJ Cuppy, has been one of those jamming to Tiwa's Vibe, as shown in one Tiwa's latest Instagram uploads showing DJ Cuppy tapping toes and singing the song along.

Mavin's Record first lady, the gorgeously sonorous Tiwa Savage has just dropped a new single and it is titled, FOLARIN. As it has become very usual with Tiwa, it's a beautiful track that we believe would quickly catch and become another anthem. 

Many have not forgotten Kele Kele Love, Love me, love me, love me, Ife wa gbona, and some of her fantastic features with other artistes. Now we have Folarin. The new jam we hear was produced by Magik Boi ''Spellz'' of 323 ENT.

OLEKU CONCERT 2012. OH WHAT A GROOVE!!!!! PART 1

Waoh!!!!! So it finally happened!!!!!And what a groove, it turned out to be. It had taken 35 long years for it to finally become a reality, that many had thought could never have happened.  But finally on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the Harbour Point Event Center, on Wilmot Road, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria, history was finally made. WTS Broadcast Limited, owned by Otunba Deji Osibogun finally did what others couldn't make happen. He brought Chief Commander Evangelist Dr. Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi & the Mercurial King of African Beats, the one, the only King Sunny Ade, Chief Sunday Adegeye on the same stage, to perform together for the very first time in 35 years. It was a fantastic feat that everyone must commend.

How did it go? We just can't describe. To a lot of the guests it was like their dreams have finally come true, a reality playing before many eyes that they didn't think could have happened. Just like the concert title-Oleku had tried to convey, it was spectacular, mind-blowing, extra-ordinary, superlative and unbelievably great. The legends really lived up to their Pre-concert hype. Everyone was taken on a roller-coaster ride of fun, re-living the good old days. Can there ever be the likes of these 2 ever again? We pray and hope so.

Just like we had announced before the show, it was just for 800 guests in total, and the venue was packed to the brim, who didn't we see? Some who couldn't believe at first that the show would happen and were now told that it was going on, were offering outrageous amount to get a table, some wanted a table of 8 for #2Million, another billionaire offered that much also for a table, but it was too good, too late.

We had his Royal Majesty-The Olugbo of Ugboland, Ondo State- Oba Obateru Akinrutan and his Queen around, they came to the concert with like 10 of the Ugboland's High Chiefs, also present was the Governor of Lagos State- Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN and his wife Dame Abimbola Fashola, Governor Emeritus of Lagos, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his wife Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who were also special guests, they came in with the National Publicity Secretary of the Action Congress of Nigeria- Alhaji Lai Mohammed, we also saw Ekiti State's Deputy Governor- Mrs. Olufunmilola Adunni Olayinka, Lagos State’s Deputy Governor Hon. Adejoke Adefulire, billionaire Alhaji Arisekola Alao, Alhaji Mufutau Olanihun, Akogun Lekan Alabi, we also saw Mr Fola Adeola- ACN's Vice-Presidential Candidiate at the last election, Former Governor of Ogun State Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Otunba Alex Onabanjo, others were Dewunmi Ogunsanya- Chairman DSTV, Dr. Bolu Akin-Olugbade- who we believe has the highest collection of Rolls Royce presently in Nigeria, Md/CEO SEAGLE Properties- Yemi Lawal & Wife, Dapo Davies Nnadi, Deola Kazeem, Aremo Segun Oniru- Commissioner for Waterfront, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, Demola Seriki, Shade Kazeem, Deola Kamson, Mo Abudu, Yinka Osobu, Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, Bashorun Dele Momodu- Publisher Ovation and Presidential Aspirant at the last election, Funmilola Jolaoso, Bolanle Ayeni, Foluso Domingo, Bolade Jegede,Teju Daranijo, Sakiru Oyefeso MD/CEO Staco Insurance,top fashion designer Remi Lagos, Mako Alabi, Bola Alabi, Biola Alabi Md MNET, Kunle Afolayan, Steve Ayorinde md/editor of National Mirror, Demola Odutola, Mo Abudu TV Hostess, Demola Seriki, Bisi Olatilo, Kunle Coker & Shola Coker, Aisha Oyebode, Senator Florence Ita Giwa, Dele Dosunmu, Chief Mrs. Comfort Omoge, Aare Kamorudeen Ajao Danjuma and so many others too numerous to mention.

All in all, it was a super fantastic concert, the legends gave very good accounts of themselves, the ageless Fatai Rolling Dollar, needs to tell everyone the secret to his youthfulness, but not to lie oooo, Baba Sala has aged, when would we at least do something to help such great icons like Pa Moses Olaiya- Baba Sala, it wouldn't cost us all anything.

Like we said before, we must commend the organisers for a very good job well done- Seun Soyinka was superb, so also was Funke Kuti of FLK, KISS EVENTS- Howie t & Bayo Abdul were fantastic & Otunba Osibogun's crew at WTS all did a marvelous job, so also Maestro's Media.

Come October 2012- It's going to be the BATTLE OF THE VICTORS, you all just have to wait for that.  We would keep you posted.  We have a few pictures to show what went down at the event.  There are more pictures after the break. D BANJ & DAVIDO SIGN THE DEAL- SEALED WITH A ROLEX PRESIDENT WATCH

If all we hear is anything to go by then DbANJ formerly of Mo'Hits, now on his own might have some major surprises for the whole world pretty soon.

But before his new camp would come out to tell the whole world what they have got up their sleeves, let’s just give you all a bit of info we have just heard, though not confirmed. According to our well informed and well planted snoop, D-Banj might have signed on one of the hottest Nigerian artistes right now on the scene, to his yet to be named new Music/Record Label. According to our snoop, the new label would have D banj's younger brother K-Switch who is now known as 'the Product 'as one of the new signings, the change of name might be a way to totally forget the past (Mo'Hits). Everyone seems to be doing all that's possible to forget the past, and move on to pasture's new.

Still yet under this new label is an unnamed American artiste, who is said to be mad hot! (Permit our language), but the real McCoy according to our snoop is the signing of the one, the only Omo BaBa Olowo himself- David Adeleke aka Davido. The deal was said to have been signed, sealed and settled sometime last week, and the new crew were part of the Industry Night which featured Ikechukwu last week, with Dbanj going on stage to perform with Ikechukwu.

Dapo ever the flamboyant one sealed the signings with a gift of a 18kt Gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date Watch (which is affectionately called the Rolex President Watch in the U.S) for each of his signees, that's not all each of the artistes on his label can also have any car of their choice to roll in, courtesy of their new label boss. From the feelers we are getting the good times might soon be rolling in again for Dbanj. We all hope and pray so.

JERRILYN SET TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM!

Since her participation in the West African Idol competition, 2007, Jerrilyn Mulbah has continued to prove her remarkable talent to the media and her fans across the continent.

With the release of her recent singles “Leka”, “Molejo” and “Mr. DJ”, and the massive response by music lovers and heavy rotation on radio stations across Nigeria, Liberia and beyond, the star singer has now set the pace for contenders to follow with the release of a music video for the track, “Leka”.

The song, “Leka” which means “Rock Me Baby” is a pop-highlife track produced by Dipo Abdul of KISS Music

On the Badex-directed video, Jerrilyn displays the typical African woman who has found love despite her parent’s displeasure in her choice of man.

The video was shot in the rural areas of Abeokuta in Ogun state, Nigeria.

“Leka is a love song which talks about what goes on in our society and how young girls of today handle situations when it comes to love.” Jerrilyn explains.

The sultry singer is to drop her first album in a matter of months.

Since the release of her singles, Jerrilyn has taken part in a series of innovative projects including MTV Meets, the youth platform where young opinion formers meet with decision makers in the government and discuss various issues affecting the society.

Jerrilyn Mulbah discovered her love for music at the age of 6 singing in church. Even though she had a very rough childhood, Jerrilyn overcame all her troubles while growing up in Liberia and Nigeria. In her stride to stardom, she performed at the Stop Rape Campaign concert hosted by the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL). She was later selected to compete with 23 other contestants in the West African Idol competition in 2007 and emerged fifth place. Since then, Jerrilyn has continued to thrill fans with her music and is now fast becoming a household name.

SUPER DUPER WORLD EXCLUSIVE FROM MM: MAVIN RECORD'S 1ST LADY SCORES PEPSI ENDORSEMENT

It's a season of firsts for the newly signed on First Lady of Mavin Records-Tiwa Savage. For many who might not have heard the news yet, the former Generalissimo at Mo'Hits Records- the Don himself a.k.a Don Jazzy has decided to discard the old label and came up with a new one- Mavin Records, though he got Mo'Hits after the break up with his former partner-D-Banj.

The Mavin Records Crew is made up of Don-Jazzy, Wande Coal, Dr. Sid, Da'Prince and the only female artiste yet on the label- songstress extra-ordinaire- Tiwaonibaje Savage- known to all just as Tiwa Savage.

Tiwa's company 323 entertainment, owned by her and her manager-TeeBillz, signed a fantastic partnership deal with Mavin Records to take the gorgeous singer/song-writer's career to the next level. We hear there might have been a confidentiality clause in the contract, so do not expect any talk from Tiwa about the deal.

What we have heard majorly is that her highly anticipated full body of works, a 1st Album for her is in the works and its gathering momentum daily. She's is always at the studio nowadays to make sure everything is on point, and from the little we could gather  the debut would be a 14 to 16 tracks album, which should be rolling off the plate before the end of June or most likely July, while the album itself would be launched in August of 2012.


But that's not the main news; the real hot gist is that Tiwa very recently landed a multi-million naira endorsement deal with world renowned soft drinks giant-PEPSI. The deal is another first in the whole of Africa. She becomes the first ever artiste from Africa to be so endorsed by the world class brand. Already the commercial to launch her is in the works, so the massive unveiling would be happening soon. This endorsement deal was inked about a month ago with her management company (323 Entertainment), long before joining Mavin Records. She joins mega-rap star Nicki Minaj, who also recently inked a multi-million dollar deal with Pepsi, Nicki is the new international face of Pepsi, while Tiwa is proudly carrying the flag of Africa. Other Pepsi stars who had gotten such endorsements in the past are the likes of Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Janet Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Aishwariya Rai-ex Miss World and Amitabh Bachchan in India etc who were at a point the face of Pepsi.

 Like we had said previously, Tiwa has only ever released 3 singles into the market- Kele Kele Love, Love me, Love me Love me and the mad fantastic collabo with Don Jazzy- Without my heart. But she has always being known in the industry has a prolific song-writer, one of her songs, written for Fantasia got nominated for a Grammy a while back and she has another song out now, written for American Sweetheart- MONICA on her new album- New Life. The song is titled 'Catch Me' and it's one of the bonus tracks on the deluxe edition of the album.
