NO RESPITE FOR ROCHAS OKOROCHA AS SON-IN-LAW WAS DEFEATED AT GUBER ELECTION.

Owelle Rochas OKOROCHA, Senator Elect?

Uche Nwosu & wife

It seems like for the outgoing Governor of Imo State, he is fulfilling that saying that says "when it rains it pours". And that just might be the atmosphere or current situation that he is facing right now as it's like in one of the novels by the world famous writer/author James Hadley Chase, where for a particular character, it seems like all his cookies all just began to crumble all at the same, giving him no respite whatsoever!!!

The latest trouble for the gregarious statue builder from Imo State, is that his preferred candidate and son-in-law, Uche Nwosu his former Chief of Staff was declared a loser by the INEC at the just concluded Gubernatorial election in Imo State, that both the later and former were so desperate to win at all cost. So very much was dependent on Uche Nwosu's victory.

Fighting under the Action Alliance (AA) flag, Uche Nwosu was said to have polled 190,364 votes to come 2nd in the election that was won by the PDP candidate, in the person of former Deputy Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Federal Republic of Nigeria between 2011 and 2015, in the person of Sir. Emeka Ihedioha who polled 273,404 votes.

With this loss, the APC has now lost the only South Eastern state under their wings before, to the opposition party, the PDP. So it's a clean sweep for the PDP now except in Anambra where though no election took place, but it's the only Eastern state where the APGA reigns. The loss itself didn't take anyone by surprise as the APC under Owelle Rochas Okorocha in Imo State didn't do anything that was worthy of them getting reelected back into power in the state. Apart from the notoriety the Governor got from building statues as monuments to people, not much is heard about his developmental strides in the state known as the Eastern Heartland or formerly Land of Hope. So the APC candidate, a former PDP stalwart in the person of Senator Hope Uzodinma at this election in representing his party, had an uphill task before him from the get go. But kudos to him though as he still came 4th by polling 96, 458 votes in total. 3rd behind AA's Uche Nwosu, was none other than 'perennial guber aspirant', Senator Ifeanyi Araurume who represented the APGA at this election where he polled 114,676, losing again for the umpteenth time!

Another juggernaut who participated at this election and was summarily demystified and was brought to his senses, was none other than a former Executive Governor of the state, in the person of Ikedi Ohakim who contested under the flag of the Accord Party and got a paltry 6864 votes.

Back to Owelle Rochas OKOROCHA, seems like the pouring rain is not abating any time soon. Even his win or should we better say supposed victory at the February 23, 2019 House of Assembly elections, is under scrutiny as we speak. His name has been omitted from the list of the Senator elects from Imo State by the electoral umpire, the INEC. Reason for that decision is because the returning officer at the time, in the person of Innocent Ibeabuchi had shouted it out for the whole world to know that, he had only released the results of that election and declared Rochas winner under duress! So until that allegation is resolved, Rochas supposed victory is stained and under suspicion then and he might not even be the Senator at the end of the day!

While all of these troubles are on. An aide of the Governor was arrested just how many days ago for the withdrawal of over a billion NAIRA allegedly meant to induce voters! Even if the burden to prove the case of attempted inducement is on the police or the EFCC, that staggering amount of money might already be lost as it would be forfeited! In the midst of the whole unprecedented shenanigans, the Owelle has also been suspended by his party, for anti-party activities.

It's like the Yoruba adage that says, "when big fight would smack one down, pinning one to the floor in a hold, then smaller, insignificant and miniscule fights that normally wouldn't have had the heart, would be encouraged to show face to trample on one too".

What a massive fall from grace for this very loud person?

LAGOS HONOURS GANI FAWEHINMI, UNVEILS NEW 44-FEET STATUE IN OJOTA

…Family Endorse Ambode For Second Term, Says Edifice Befitting Of Gani’s Legacies

…NLC, NCP, Falana, Odumakin, Others Eulogise Late Activist, Laud LASG

…Gani Remains A Hero, Role Model, Says Governor.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Sunday unveiled a new statue of the late legal luminary, Chief Gani Fawehinmi at the ‘Liberty Park’, in Ojota, saying that the 44-feet edifice symbolises the phenomenon that the rights activist represented in his life time.

The unveiling of the statue, in commemoration of the 80th posthumous birthday of the late icon, the Governor said, was an affirmation of his administration’s commitment to celebrate personalities whose action have helped to define the fortune and spirit of Lagos State positively over the years.

Eulogizing the relevance of the personal sacrifices made by Chief Gani Fawehinmi in leading the struggle for attainment of human rights and dignity especially during the military regimes which dehumanized many Nigerians, Governor Ambode said the late human rights activist would continue to remain a hero and role model for many till date.

“We celebrate the invaluable contribution and personal sacrifices of Chief Gani Fawehinmi in the campaign for human rights and dignity, especially in Lagos State where he spent the greater part of his life.

“Chief Gani Fawehinmi loomed large in the minds of the people, especially the underprivileged and vulnerable masses for whom he was ready to lay down his life. In the hallowed corridors of the Law Courts where he fought many battles, he was revered as a titan. Also his acts of philanthropy were borderless. He remains a hero and role model to many till date,” Governor Ambode said.

The Governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Oluranti Adebule, also seized the occasion to reiterate the commitment of his administration towards advancing human rights and upholding of social justice at all time, adding that his administration would continue to draw inspiration from Chief Gani Fawehinmi’s struggles and ideals in its quest to make life meaningful for Lagosians.

“Although Chief Gani Fawehinmi is no longer in our midst; like all great men, he lives on in our hearts and memories. We will continue to keep his ideals alive and pass it on to the next generation. He will continue to inspire us as we forge ahead with the missing of building a better society. This monument stands as a testimony of his strength and courage.

Responding on behalf of the family, the son of the late activist, Mohammed Fawehinmi thanked the State Government and Governor Ambode, saying that apart from being a befitting representation to the legacies of their patriarch, the Statue would place their father’s name on the global map.

“I am totally overwhelmed. I want to say a big thank you to Lagos State Government and another very big massive thank you to Governor Ambode. In all honesty, he is the man I least expected this to come from.

“We understood when former Governor Fashola started this with a smaller statue and we were all glad that at least he remembered our mentor, our father, our leader in the human rights struggle and senior advocate of the masses. But now seeing this, I now started to say to myself that Governor Ambode has placed the name Gani Fawehinmi on a global map,” Mohammed said.

While describing Governor Ambode as a very reputable accountant and one of the most outstanding Governors in Nigeria, Mohammed said the Governor was the first in the history of Nigeria to do something such gigantic, saying that the statue would enter the Guinness Book of Records.

Mohammed, who alluded to the massive infrastructural renewal and efforts to make Lagos rank among top global cities, also announced the decision of the Fawehinmi family to endorse Governor Ambode for a second term in office to continue the good works across the State.

“We hereby endorse Governor Ambode for second term in office to continue the good works in the State,” Mohammed said.

In his goodwill message, rights activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana described the statue as one of the best in the country, and thanked the State Government for honouring Fawehinmi with such imposing edifice.

“The monument we are unveiling today is one of the best in the country and it has to be so. We want to thank the Lagos State Government for the investment in this edifice. We can assure you that many Nigerians or anybody who enters Lagos through this road will want to find out who is here and every day we are going to teach lessons about Gani Fawehinmi.

“We thank the Lagos State Government for rebuilding this statue. We were wondering when the former one was collapsing but we are sure this one can never collapse. It is very solid and very strong,” Falana said.

On his part, National Secretary of National Conscience Party (NCP), Comrade Ayodele Akele, said the edifice was a wonderful 80th posthumous birthday gift to the family and associates of the late activist.

Akele, who spoke on behalf of the NCP, a party founded by late Fawehinmi, specially thanked the State Government and Governor Ambode, saying that the government deserved to be commended.

“I am totally flabbergasted by this wonderful edifice in honour of my icon, in honour of my mentor, late Chief Gani Fawehinmi. For me, this is a wonderful memory of late Chief Fawehinmi.

“This would be auspicious gift to the posthumous 80th birthday of our mentor and this is wonderful. For doing this to the memory of Chief Gani Fawehinmi, my humble self, National Conscience Party (NCP) and all its associates across the world say a big thank you to the Lagos State Government and particularly Governor Ambode,” Akele said.

More after the break.

ROCHAS OKOROCHA OF IMO STATE- HOW DOES ONE DESCRIBE A MAN TOTALLY DISCONNECTED FROM HIS OWN PEOPLE?

People have asked the question to ascertain whether he is edelibrately insensitive?

That's only because how can one just make a decision that is so totally out of sync?

Is it that he lacks advisers? Or it's just that even when they advise him, he sees himself as the only intelligent one around, the undisputable lord of the manor, who can do no wrong?

Firstly, you brought in to the country, one of the most vilified person in Africa, same person whose own country people are doing their best to investigate for so many allegations. Same man who presides over a country, whose people totally hates your own countrymen and have even murdered a few to show you how they mean business.

So this same Jacob Zuma came into the country and in what still seem like a dream you unveil a statue of him! Which makes one to ask, is he Nelson Mandela? Or better still, what is Jacob Zuma's contribution to the world and to Nigeria to warrant such a monument? If the tables were turned, would South Africa or the government have done such for us too?

You used taxpayers money, which you claim not to have enough of, still owing backlogs of salaries, on a round of folly? Just to make yourself look totally out of tune and totally far away from reality?

And this is the same person that would point out or chose for his own people, who to succeed him at the next election?

To say one is disappointed, would have meant one had expected better from you, the shock here comes from the fact that action was actually you, you made no effort at all, at not being predictable!

You goofed!!!!!
