Against all odds, what began 2 decades ago is still going on pretty strong contrary to how people felt it should have ended. The then 50 plus year old man met and fell heads over heel in love with a 20 plus year old young and still impressionable girl then and one thing led to another and from just been mere lovers, who many thought he would just have discarded after a short-while, to now his darling, very stylish wife of 20 years and still going strong, with 4 grown up, well trained, brilliant kids to the booth.

So on the occasion of the awesome celebration of the man's 80th birthday, the gorgeous wife penned a heartfelt tribute that was both awesome and touching and in fact, something all should study and learn from on how they also can make their marriages work.

Hear Chief Dr. Mrs Folashade Okoya-

“My Chairman, there is nothing I write today that would be news to you, because you know everything about me. You are my Chairman, my darling husband, and my everything. I love you, just as you love me and I adore, respect and cherish you with all my heart and will forever do so. Both of us desired to make our marriage work, irrespective of the wide age difference, and I am thankful to God that we are all alive to witness the beautiful occasion of your 80th birthday and over 20 years of our marriage.

I knew when I got married to you, that it was I who had to adjust myself to fit into your life. You were in your 50s and fully formed, while I was still in my 20s. I never, therefore, made any attempt to change the way you did your things because I believe you were already used to your ways over the years and that trying to change you would be very unnecessary.

For me, marriage is about sacrifices; and since I did not want it to fail, I decided early in the day to sacrifice whatever was necessary. I studied your lifestyle and adjusted quickly; even though it was not easy, looking back now, I can say that it wasn’t really difficult. You made it much easier with your support, love, and appreciation. I am now more mature, smarter and have a better understanding of everything and now see things from a different perspective. I now clearly understand why you wanted things done your way and I am very glad I complied without much ado.

You are a man of great stature and wisdom, and all you ever wanted was for me to hold the house and family together; but as a young girl in her twenties, this task did not look easy or interesting at the time. I thank God for the wisdom and understanding he gave me to be an obedient wife and I can say today that everything you wanted was important and in order.

We now understand ourselves better, and all I can say to you as you celebrate is that I love you very dearly and I am grateful to God for blessing me with you – a wonderful husband and great friend.

You have supported me all the way; and with you by my side and God being so faithful, I have been able to play the role you wanted me to play, able to plan well in the Okoya Family and to fit in properly.

I have learnt great lessons and wisdom from you that I can even offer some of the words of marriage counseling to other couples, especially women. We all need, wisdom from God to understand that our husbands need to be respected and appreciated and be able to trust us. They want us to be loyal to them and I thank God for helping me to provide these for you because they matter so much to you.

There is nothing that you have asked for that was too much; although it was difficult at the beginning, I have overcome with patience. I have learnt not to argue with you. This, in any case, was never a challenge to me as I am naturally a peaceful person; which is why I could accept that I am wrong, even when I know that I am right, for the sake of peace. I believe that the argument will not get anyone anywhere.

I didn’t think you took note of these, but you did and have come to respect me so much because of these sacrifices.

As a matter of fact, I knew I had to shower you all the respect, especially because of the age difference, but you have reciprocated in so many wonderful ways that nobody can imagine, and I am indeed grateful. I thank you for appreciating me so much and for your love. Once I made my choice of you, I knew there was no going back, irrespective of whatever people thought then of my early marriage and the age gap between us. I had resolved to stay married and, thankfully, God has blessed me immensely, through your reciprocated love, care and attention.

Failure wasn’t an option for me as I can never trade my loving family and the peace of mind it provides for anything. You have been a wonderful husband and I am very happy with you. You have respected and loved me; and my prayer is that our love shall continue to wax even stronger, that we shall continue to respect each other, and that we will never take each other for granted. You have not, in any way, taken me for granted. I am sure we both enjoy each other’s company. Moreover, I personally feel happy and blessed in our marriage. Together, we have four lovely children, for whom you have been a great dad.

You have also given me the opportunity to soar professionally. You have trusted me to run your factories, which, I clearly understand, are very dear to you. For me, this is a great measure of trust and I shall, insha Allah, uphold this trust.

With your support, I am already able to achieve a lot, in terms of restructuring, rebranding, growing the company, and saving costs. We are working to attain your vision of ensuring that Eleganza Industrial City becomes the number one producers of household items in the entire Africa. I am proud to say that, as the Managing Director of Eleganza Industrial City, and with you by my side, Eleganza is much bigger, stronger and with high-quality products. I thank you for your mentorship, vision and support. I thank God for your health and ability to have clear and untainted vision at 80. I like to note that the New Eleganza Industrial City is a massive project located on 35 hectares of land. It is called an INDUSTRIAL CITY for the production of all kinds of household items and more.

My Chairman, you are so passionate about this project and I pray that Allah will continue to be kind and good to you and grant you the strength and health for achieving your dreams and goals in the new Eleganza Extension Site. I resume daily at the factory from Monday to Saturday. All I know is what you have taught me over the years. You remain the centre of my universe and my whole world revolves around you. I have even started to like factory life, just like you. I do not feel complete except I do my bit at the factory. I have gained a lot of experience from you, in both the manufacturing and real estate sectors.

People have asked me how I manage to cope running the company and combining it with family, and even social demands. You have honestly been a very supportive husband and I thank you today. You have helped me to rediscover myself. I am, no doubt, naturally a very structured and organized person. I outline my plans in such a way that all my roles are played without any one of them being compromised. Today, as you celebrate the milestone age of 80, you remain my everything, and I offer my continued unconditional love.

"Love is a beautiful" so they say and that beautiful thing is most surely, most definitely what must  have swept these 2 lovers, in the persons of 'Sonnie Ayere & Uche Ajene', off their feet & turned them into 'giddy lovers', 2 who are so drunk and crazy in love that would come tomorrow, Saturday, April 27, 2019, be walking down the aisle in front of their chosen witnesses to say to each other 'I do' in holy matrimony, which is an institution ordained by God and not one to be toyed or played with at all by any one, whatsoever.

For these 2, it has to be LOVE, real love just like Mary J. Blige was searching for. But it seems like Uche has found has. Both have experienced the institution they are entering into again, before. And it seems both have fallen out of it and have made up their minds again, to give it all it would take all over again. By this we mean it is actually their 2nd missionary journey and from all indications, it seems like these 2nd time around would most definitely be a charm. According to those who know both, these 2 are head over heels, crazily, madly, affectionately, awesomely, soul wise, spiritually attuned to one another.

Between these highly cerebral couple, they share 6 kids, 3 each on both sides. The handsome, quite suave and very intelligent investment banker, who is said to be quite solid as he has handled some very heavy investment portfolios in the past, used to be very very close, was in fact the then boyfriend of a known lifestyle editor of a popular pull out magazine a while ago who is the 'root' of the matter. In fact the speculation then in 2014, before things went south, was that both lovers then, that's talking about Sonnie & his now ex, who incidentally has same name as a very important biblical character were going to marry. But It wasn't too long after, that the speculation became rife that the relationship had broken down totally and irretrievably, with everyone then going their ways.

For those who might not know Sonnie Ayere. He is the handsome, highly cerebral founder, Chairman/CEO of his own very thriving investment company by the name, 'Dunn Loren Merrifield'. A full fledged investment house that was established in 2009. Which is about a decade ago now. SA as the brand owner is called, has an intimidating resume. In fact, he is ascribed as an investment guru that has handled some heavy things both in Nigeria and abroad in the past.

Sonnie has worked for such heavy international brands likes of HSBC Bank, Natwest Bank, The Sumitomo Mitsu Bank, Bank of Montreal, the IFC at the World Bank, the UBA Grp just to mention a few.

Tomorrow's bride herself, a supremely gorgeous one at that, who is a beauty too, is not a pushover in any way at all. In fact, in Uche, Sonnie the fine dude has met his 'cerebral match', one who wouldn't cower at her husband's to be's resume at all. The "Boston University" graduate of 'Business Administration with specialization in Accounting' has a fantastic profile of her very own. In fact, her own resume too is quite intimidating, having cut her teeth at various international brands that can be reckoned with too. She started her career in Chicago at Hill Taylor and has grown steadily and surely over the years ever since. She was at a time the head of Corporate Communications and youth account at the FCMB Group. She's currently the Managing Consultant at Quadrant MSL, which is a subsidiary of Troiyka Group.

The both we have heard, already live in a beautiful place/home in Ikoyi, Lagos and would be making their relationship of a few years now very official tomorrow at their chosen venue amongst selected friends and relatives. It's a hush hush thing or should we accurately say, a very private affair by all indications.

Their love story is actually like the stuff you read in all those romantic 'Harlequin or mills and boon' novels. Apparently, Uche's house maid was a superb magician with the unenviable ability to disappear what doesn't belong to her. She had vaporised Uche's jewelry. So she hunting the run away Thief down to deal with her, so as to recover her goods, found out that the thief's husband, was a 'private chef' to Sonnie, who she had to contact in order to help retrieve her lost valuables. Apparently the theft and subsequent accusation had affected Sonnie's private chef and Sonnie knew something was amiss and it needed a solution asap. So when after getting Sonnie's number from a mutual friend, Uche called Sonnie to discuss her matter, which was all about getting her valuables back.  So both strangers met at the 'George Hotel' and it was like they had known each other before then and for a long time. So cupid took advantage of what was supposed to be a bad situation and turned it into a good one, which then led to LOVE. One thing led to another and both would become, truly one spirit, soul and body tomorrow.

From the pictures above, it can be seen and deduced very clearly that these are 2 souls that have become one in every way possible. The signs are evident from their body language. Apart from what is so obvious about their telepathic connection, we had heard before now that Sonnie is actually a great lover, in fact a quite generous one in every way and manner. Who knows what to do with to put his partner on the Aladdin carpet of love. So no wonder, Uche has been swept off her feet in totality and comprehensively. Love O love.

For Toyin, this is his 2nd journey into matrimony after his first marriage to his ex-wife went bad and led to a divorce after several years as husband and wife. Toyin himself after the traumatic demise of his beloved cable network, which had given the only surviving cable network in Nigeria, Mnet or is it DSTV a major run for their money had relocated abroad for a few years then, maybe then to lick his wound or to restrategize, as he had given his very all to make sure that HITV survived, but alas those who should have backed him then, to save the growing business concern which had many hundreds of people in her employ really disappointed by backing out.

One of those that reportedly removed the carpet from under his feet then, is said to have been a very popular financial institution led by an English speaking MD, that has enjoyed a lot of good attention ever since then, for many innovations his institution had brought into the financial industry.

This Toyin's 2nd missionary journey was signed, sealed and settled on Saturday. We had by chance then met the couple a few weeks back at the Wheatbaker Hotel, Ikoyi and it was obvious that they both were totally smitten with each other, as they behaved like loved up pals just so much into each other.

Their dad was the late Alhaji Umaru YarAdua,  GCFR, Nigeria's former president, who took over from Chief Olusegun Aremu Okikiola Obasanjo, GCFR. The dad preceded Dr. Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan, GCFR, who was actually the Vice-President before taking over after the untimely death of YarAdua.

Their mom is the famous, no nonsense Turai YarAdua, the former first lady. From the above picture, it is very obvious that the trio are doing very well.

Imagine that each of them is married to an Ex-Governor of a State. Maryam's husband is the former 2 term Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu Shema, Zainab's husband is the former Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Usman Saidu Nasamu Dakingari, while Nafisa is married to Isa Yuguda, the former Governor of Bauchi State, who was first the Minister for Aviation, before he later became a 2 term governor.

By the above, it's obvious their mother did very well, by positioning them very well.

Neya Iyere nee Orji Kalu is the sumptuously beautiful daughter of the billionaire former Governor of Abia State, Sir Orji Uzor Kalu.

So in February of 2017, just about 2 months and days ago, her then fiance Lawrence Iyere and Neya with family members as witnesses, signed on the dotted lines and declared openly their love for each other, while exchanging love vows, for richer for poorer, GOOD health and bad, till death do them part. Many bare still waiting to see whether an Igbere wonder wedding would still take place.

So it was very shocking to suddenly hear again according to.unconfirmed rumour that, that wedding of Just a few moths ago has crashed!

So to get to the bottom of it all, we did our best to get to Neya herself to hear from the horse's mouth what was the present situation of things, but her phone....0805........ just kept ringing busy. So we thought to investigate further by asking some people, who should be in the know, if all was well. Many didn't know what was up.

But apparently one of those we contacted, quickly contacted Neya herself, who now sent a supposed staff by name Shola Arogun, to call us, who refuted the claims made that the wedding had already crashed!

We believe him!

Which brings us to asking the question, who is after Neya? And why want the marriage to break up or crash? Remember, what God has joined together, let no man tear asunder.

KEVIN & MARIAH LUCCIANO-GABRIEL'S GLORIOUS WHITE WEDDING IN HERTFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND PART 1-exchange of vows

Most definitely this must have been one of the best arrows that Cupid (the cherub of love) with the good direction of Mariah has shot in recent times. The love arrow sure did hit target well and that target is none other than Kevin Lucciano-Gabriel's heart; it was pierced in a jolly good way. 

The traditional part of the nuptial had been sorted out a while ago in Lagos, Nigeria, but to fully celebrate this great love story and finish the final leg of the nuptial, the gorgeous couple chose far away Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire in the UK, which is about 45 minutes away from London. 

It was a romantic setting all the way. Venue of choice was- The Pond, Micklefield Hall, Saratt Road, Sarratt, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, WD3 6AQ, a beautiful building surrounded by a massive expanse of very well tended grounds of many acres. Date was Friday, August 16, 2013. It was scheduled to have started at 12:30 hours, but it started about 30 minutes after the scheduled time. 

Romance pervaded the whole atmosphere and the exchange of vows and rings was witnessed by about 150 people. Who all sat under a beautiful white canopy enjoying the whole atmosphere as the very witty Pastor conducted the whole proceedings and exchange of vows. 

We particularly loved Pastor Tunde Adebayo-Oke's admonition to the couple, and we have some of his quotable quotes, hear him- Every marriage is bespoke, each couple's marriage is signature to them and therefore no need for comparison with others. He also quoted from 1 Thessalonians 4:11 to buttress a particular point, which said ''Make it your goal to live a quiet life, 'minding your own business' and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before.

Minding your own business here according to the pastor, meant the couple are each others topmost business, so they should make conscious effort to mind each other. He went on further to say, they both must beware of friends, especially those who wants to chip in one thing or the other about how things should be and they are also not to listen to outside or side talks as this would affect their relationship. 

It was a beautiful and hilarious ceremony, great admonitions, fantastic off the cuff wisecracks and it didn't take too long as everything went on like a breeze. 

Kevin's friend and partner Gbenga Sokefun, TY Bello's older sibling was his best man, while Isoken Ogiemwonyi's sister Ivie was the Chief Bride's maid. Kevin was decked out looking totally dapper, in a blue Tom Ford suit and Mariah had on a most gorgeous Elie Saab white wedding gown complete with the veil. She was looking virginal and gorgeous.

Some of those who witnessed the exchange of vows were Gbemi Shasore, Ekua Abudu, Lilian Unachukwu, Oloye Ayiri Emame, Eniola & Olamide Adenuga, Isoken Ogiemwonyi, Ugo Okoye & wife, Gbenga Sokefun, Tuface Idibia, Bright Okpocha and very many others.

The signs that all was not well from just a few months after the big society wedding was glaring but everyone kept mute, wanting to see how things would unfold. After doing her best to patch it up, trying to see whether things could be worked out. At the end, the center could not hold together again and what was obvious and sure to happen has finally happened, Funke & her 1 year and few months husband have decided to pack it up. No more pretense!!!


Many who had seen the signs from the beginning had wondered at what the very humble actress was getting herself into, when she decided that Kehinde Oloyede was her choice. The guy was already married before and some had speculated he had already fathered between 8 and 10 kids from different women. So it was like the actress had of her own free will worked into a quagmire. Love truly must have been blind some exclaimed. 

The husband announced the separation today by himself on the Social Media via his Facebook page thus- 

"It’s with heavy heart that am announcing the separation of me nd ma wife Mrs olufunke akindele,we’ve both agreed to go our separate ways coz of irreconcilable differences.we still best of friends nd we 4ever remain gud friends.

He went on to add further-  ''Am doing just fine, gettn along without u,don't need y anymore in ma lie.u d greatest mistake av made in recent time."

And with those terse & rather insulting words he declares his marriage was over. A terrible shame we dear say.
