The "queen of entertainment in Africa" aka Mo Abudu, whose fullname is "Mosunmola Dominique Abudu", the Ebony Life TV boss, the British-Nigerian lady of TV has done something that others would run and run very much to emulate for years to come. Her world premiere of a sequel she 'Executive Produced", which is most likely and most definitely going to wipe out all records set by any movie in Nigeria was undoubtedly a winning slamdunk. You all can be sure that awards would pour in, in torrents and like an avalanche! One only hopes they would have enough room to keep the trophies!
Imagine that "The Wedding Party's" first installment which we could tag part 1 now, may have raked in an unconfirmed estimated ₦500m, so what about this one, that is bigger in terms of budget and ambition and even production wise and much better in all ramifications, the fluidity of the whole process was exceptional.
More after the break.
Like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, Dr J, Magic Johnson, LeBron James, Koby Bryant etc all put together, all who are basketballers and who were undoubted legends who bestrode the game like colossus would do, the team behind this project, delivered a major award winning slamdunk! Mo and her team (crew) like the combination of Gianluigi Buffon, Christiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba, Luis Suarez, Neymar, Antoine Griezmann, Harry Kane etc that can be tagged the mega MVP team behind this project, played in the realm of the superior super Liga of an extraordinary kind, and have delivered something akin to a world cup with this project. It is what can be termed a "sure banker", awards winning, money raking movie". Audiences would run to the cinemas to go watch and the money would rush in.
Like we had said before in our earlier report after the private viewing, it was an hilarious experience, people laughed their heads off as many were of the casts were in their comedic heaven getting inspiration to act their best. There was a major feel good thing about the whole thing. The parts rolled in effortlessly. You will have major fun watching and it's good to take along ones partner to go catch the movie.
Sola Sobowale was awesome as she's known to be, a consummate and professional actor by all standards, everyone fell in love with her, her ability to switch moods is epic. Patience Ozokwor as expected was the bomb, her sarcasm and cantankerous nature in her role, was well displayed and to great effect. RMD & Iretiola Doyle were magnificent as the wealthy Ibo couple, who were too "tush" for their own liking Ireti as Obianuju played the role of the snobbish spoilt wife to a "t". The whole cast were on point and this is an obvious signpost that you cannot go less than this film to be taken seriously again, at least when it comes to big budget movies. We thought that Zainab Balogun might have over acted her role though as the event planner! In all Mo Abudu has delivered an extraordinary benchmark, worthy of serious emulation.
Now back to ₦twp2 on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at the Eko Hotel Victoria Island Lagos venue in Nigeria. The whole place was totally and gobsmarkingly transformed into an Arabian magic world. It was like people were placed on the Aladdin magic carpet and swept off their feet.
It was colourful in the Arabian sense, opulent in every sense. You are immediately translated into another world, those who haven't gone to Dubai before would most definitely take a quick trip now. Those that have gone before were definitely reliving their times in that in your face place.
People were dressed to the nines trying their possible best to interpret the style or fashion theme. Even the men were not left out, Sultan bin RMD was the bomb! So also was Sheikh Bankole bin Wellington and many others. Alibaba the king of comedy came as an Emir, in tow was his wife. The style Sheikh of the night as declared by the organisers of the event was "Isaac Gerald" who won a roundtrip to Dubai, to stay in some awesome hotels and go on some awesome trips, the runner up a new Nokia phone. The Belle of the evening who won the female aspect was none other than Shaffy.
Can't remember the criteria used for judging, but there were some more awesome dresses and styling that were out of this world, that could have competed with those nominated and even take some to the cleaners. Beverly Naya, Ifeoma Williams, Toke Makinwa-in Magnetic Elegance stood out, Omoni Oboli, Toyin Lawani and many others razzled-dazzled! Nancy Isime, Stephanie Aderinokun, even Mo Abudu herself, Sola Sobowale in that awesome black and gold outfit, Azuke Ogujuiba and very many others killed it style-wise.
The number of dignitaries that attended and did well to interpret the day's style were much, likes of wife of the VP, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of the Senate President, Toyin Saraki, wife of former Governor of Cross Rivers State, Mrs. Imoke, Ekua Abudu and very many others.
It was a colourful and exciting crowd. The package was impressive, even the FG was well represented in The Minister Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
In all it was a great gathering, fantastic ambience, excellent movie of about 1 hour 40 minutes, a great evening in all ramifications. Kudos mam!!!!!
