FILMMAKER EXTRAORDINAIRE KEMI ADETIBA CLOCKS THE BIG 40

Better late than not at all. So we nearly forgot. Not that we forgot totally, we apparently thought that we had already celebrated her to high heavens already. And that's because she deserves, without and reservations whatsoever to be celebrated, most especially on this occasion as she clocks 40.

So we are talking about non other than Kemi Adetiba, one of our very own top film maker, film director extraordinaire or like she self describes herself-The visual troublemaker (story teller). If you don't know her at all, at least we are too sure you would know of her or would have encountered or come across something that has to do with her before at one point or the other. But just in case, your memories might have escaped you for any reason, let's quickly help you juggle it a bit.

If you have heard about 'King of Boys', that soar away, highly successful & award winning Nigerian drama, that had the likes of Sola Sobowale, Reminisce, Adesuwa Wellington and others featuring powerfully in it and also the Nigerian movie of the season in 2016, that's talking about 'The Wedding Party 1', a film produced by the inimitable Mo Abudu, that broke all records at the Nigerian box office and starred the likes of super stars RMD, Sola Sobowale, Bankole 'Banky W' Wellington, Ali 'the numero uno' Baba and many others. If you then know these 2 great Nigerian movies, then you must have heard of or about the incredibly talented 'New York Film Academy alumni, Kemi Adetiba.

Long before she added the tag of filmmaker extraordinaire to her her resume, the lady born on January 8, 1980 had honed are skills as an award winning music video director of note, having worked with the likes of Niyiola, Waje, Bez, Lynxxx, Banky W, TY Bello, Tiwa Savage, Olamide Wizkid and a hosts of others.

From being a popular, very good OAP at Rhythm FM where she began her career, to presenting on TV to now becoming one of the masters behind the camera. it has been a roller-coaster sort of experience for this Lagos born strong Feline.

So on this occasion of her clocking 40 (2 scores on earth, a whole 4 decades already) and entering into the rarefied club of elders, we congratulate her and wish for her more healthy and successful and award filled years ahead.

Freda Francis needs no introduction whatsoever. It's like trying to introduce Coca Cola, Pepsi, Milo or Bournvita to people. Even if they haven't tasted of any of the brand's, that we have mentioned, they have most likely heard about the brands before or come across them one way or the other. So Freda Francis known to many as "Olivia Pope" or 007 or just by her initials as "FF" or "FFE" the last one by those that know her with the Edewor name, so that stands for Freda Francis-Edewor is a known personality.

Freda is one of Nigeria's most "drop dead gorgeous fashionistas, by all standards or ramifications, and when we say she is a fashionista worth her salt, we mean it by all standards available and she roles only with the biggest. Her wardrobe would rival any fashionista's in any part of the world and still stand super sure. She is also an avid traveler around the world.

She is the proud owner/promoter of one of the most upscale, most well appointed spas in Nigeria with headquarters on Cameron Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria and a branch in Lekki Phase 1 area. She's not just an entrepreneur owing a spa by the way, but one that is very knowledgeable and hands on in the business, having gone for several top notch trainings herself across the world and coming out with good certifications at that. Currently, her renowned "Oasis Med Spa" has won several of the best awards by any spas, across the globe. She in fact runs the spa, with one of the most knowledgeable persons in the spa business as her partner in the person of Dr. Bruce, a 35 years veteran, who himself was a legendary spa owner to the stars and celebs in America for several years, before relocating back to Nigeria. Oasis Med Spa is in fact, one of the best equipped in the country in terms of infrastructure, technology and manpower.

Our subject matter or the focus of our attention in this write up or should we call it an article, is a mother of one, a delightsomely handsome young boy by name Alexander. Freda has added a year today-her birthday, meaning she is 30 plus today, a little bird 🐦 told us it's Freda's [35th]. And since she's a jolly good feline, loved so much by so many, we have thought to share her birthday with the world and wish her the best as she happily celebrates making another year, in good health and sound mind.

We hear though not confirmed, that she's throwing it down with her few "friends", somewhere top notch. As soon as we have the details we would divulge it. So here is wishing Freda again, all the best that she wishes herself.

OUTGOING & SUPREMELY STYLISH OYO'S 1ST DAUGHTER ABSIOLA KOLAPO-DAISI ADDS A YEAR & IS IN A REFLECTIVE AND THANKFUL MOOD!

Abisola Kolapo-Daisi is probably one of the most well known child of any of the present Governors in Nigeria. Her dad like we all know, is the outgoing Governor of the Pacesetter state-Oyo, that's talking about Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who in the wake of his loss at the Senatorial election has had much flak thrown his way of recent. But he has the singular honour so far, of being the only Governor of Oyo State since the creation of the state to have done 2 uninterrupted terms as a governor. Apart from the fact that Abisola is the Governor's daughter, which some might ascribe her fame to, she is also famous in her own right because she's a well respected fashionista of note. In fact many have even said she is most probably the most stylish of all the Nigerian Governors' kids, all put together.

Abiola is one well respected personality in the luxury lifestyle business in the country, where she owns a couple of very okay business concerns, one of them is her very upscale shoe store Florence H that caters only to the top fashionistas and very well to do with the HQ at her own shopping complex on famous Fola Osibo Street, Lekki Phase 1. On that same very bustling street, she also owns another very good business a super well stocked, supermarket that is frequented by the very upscale crowd too, known as Grandex! She is also the inspiration behind TLLM, The Luxury Lifestyle Market, an outstanding gathering of Luxury purveyors that comes together periodically. A sort of luxury pop up that can gather anywhere around the world.

The quite humble and somewhat quiet, Oyo's 1st daughter is a year older and as the avalanche of birthday well wishes poured in, with all pouring out love to her and expressing their warmth on her birthday, the impressed birthday gal, overwhelmed and appreciative of it all, poured out her heart in gratitude to all and sundry. Thanking her creator, for those who don't know, Abisola is quite religious or do we say spiritual, she's a Christian though her dad is a practising moslem; promising to be more open. The totally in your face celebrity, OAP, author, businesswoman is a Scorpion, star sign Scorpio without a doubt. She loves been seen, she enjoys the attention that fame and stardom brings and she obviously must be smiling to the banks for it.

Lanre Da Silva-Ajayi is undoubtedly one of Nigeria's best designers. In fact she's one of the most internationally recognized Nigerian designer right now and one that's home based at that. Her atelier, is in Lagos, precisely Dolphin Estate in Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria.

She is one of the very few in the cutthroat industry, where you are up there today and gone tomorrow that has helped to place Nigeria, on the world map, while also placing her name high up there when it comes to the fashion industry.

At the age of 27 years old in 2005 after she had returned to Nigeria from her studies in the UK, where she had bagged a 1st degree in Business Administration at the Coventry University and a 2nd degree (Masters) in Finance from the University of Leicester, she founded her award winning ams quite successful eponymous brand better known now simply as LDA.

It has been a roller-coaster of a magic carpet kinda ride ever since. A decade and 3 years in the fashion industry since that humble beginning in 2005. Every year as a way to thank God for a good good life, the lady who defines elegance with much aplomb, her royal gorgeousness, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa gathers her friends and well wishers always to a sumptuous do, this year 2018 was no exception at all.

But instead of the big party that she is known to favour, she decided to have a more subdued but still well packaged soiree at her highbrow residence in Banana Island Ikoyi Lagos to celebrate clocking 72 years on earth! Quite shocking we presume, and that's because bshe looks 60 rather thtn 70 not to talk of 72!

We bear testament to the fact that the apartment at Bella Vista is a very well appointed one and fit enough for a Princess and titled lady that Senator Florence Ita-Giwa is. For those who might not know, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa is a real princess from a royal family.

Though it was a "little get together" in quote like some refer to it, but it wasn't devoid of all the expected razzmatazz that follows high octane parties, where the guests are some of the creme of the society. It was like the whole world was there to wish the 72 year old unrelenting and unrepentant fashion "young at heart" impressive fashion icon a happy birthday.

Day of the impressive shindig was Sunday, February 25, 2018 and some of those we sighted were the likes of Globe Motors Chairman and his stylish wife, Willie and Nkiru Anumudu, This Day Style Editor, the elegant Ruth Osime, Skymit Motors Chairman, Tayo Ayeni, the handsome and suave gentleman behind Sophisticat, Lanre Ogunlesi, First Nation Airline handsome owner Kayode Odukoya, Chairman of Inducon Nigeria Limited and immediate younger brother of the late first lady of Nigeria, Mrs. Stella Obasanjo, Dr. John Abebe, supremely gorgeous Event's engineer behind Enthyst brand, Ndidi Obioha, handsome grandson of the late sage & former Premier of Western Nigeria, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, in the person of Segun Awolowo Jnr, who is the CEO/DG of the NEPC, his mom, Hajia Abah Folawiyo, beleagured billionaire businesswoman, owner of Practoil and an in-law to the current Vice President, Hajia Bola Muinat Shagaya, wife of the owner/CEO of Sunny Motors & Omoregie Motors, Chief Mrs. Ireti Asemota, award winning designer behind the Maufechi brand, Maureen Onigbanjo, owner of House of Regalia & President of FADAN & her husband, who is a top media communications expert, Funmi Ajila-Ladipo and Rufai Ladipo, stupendously stylish and beautiful thespian Rita Dominic, fine boy businessman and trained Pilot, Otunba Lai Oriowo, London based, top socialite Kayode Lanihun, Ambassador Greg Mbadiwe, ex-beauty queen and WAG, Adaeze Joseph Yobo, her gorgeous mom Abigail Igwe, the Ghanaian first lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo and a few others.

Birthday lady herself, ever the epitome of supreme grace and gorgeousness was the ultimate lady-in-red, in her stupendous 1 piece red ensemble, a colour she seem to favour a whole lot and from what we heard, she was a super fantastic host, who welcomed all her guests very well. Imagine that she was even a hotstepper at a point during the proceedings.

All in all, it was a top scale small party, that those who attended enjoyed loads.

OMOTOKE MAKINWA CLOCKS 33. AND CELEBRATES WITH A CLASSY SHINDIG!

So one of Nigeria's top "IT" girls, "can she still be called or referred to as a gal anymore"? Clocked 33 yesterday, Friday, November 4, 2017 and to celebrate the birthday and the day, she had what was termed a "classy party", with a classy set of peeps, at the very beautiful and classy "Clear Essence Spa Place" on Alexander in Ikoyi, Lagos. 

In attendance were many of her friends, likes of Mo Abudu (much older friend), Elohor Aisien, Bolinto, Nnenna Okoye, Noble Igwe and his wife, Ebuka Obi Ochendo and his wife, Ifeoma Williams, Arese, Denola Grey, Tarmar Awobotu, Freda Francis, Tola Odunsi, Omawumi, Waje, Mr. MoashStyling, ace comedian Bovi, IK Osakioduwa who doubles as the host for the event and very many other friends and well-wishers. It was only us at MM that wasn't invited Lol!!! We don't feel any bad about it though LWKUD!!!

According to those in attendance, it was a classy party all the way and it was fun galore all through as it lasted till about 3am in the morning. It was a great selection of fun loving guests gathered together in a beautiful ambience and venue, and every other things one could add to garnish something already well packaged were done. 

Birthday gal herself was the cynosure of all eyes, as she wowed all comers in her special birthday garb/outfit a "short Balmain sequinned dress" said to have cost her somewhat near "a Million Naira", which she finished off with much aplomb in her pair of stupendously gorgeous Christian Louboutin shoes, it was Oomph raised to the power of 💯. She shimmered, shone and razzled dazzled everyone in no small way. 

Toke truly has arrived and no one, no matter status, bad bellicks or connect can stop her shine, so naysayers go hug transformers Lol. 

It has been a rollercoaster ride like year for this delectable media personality. From the pain and anguish of the irretrievable breakdown of her marriage to her former beau to the divorce, to the success of her book launch, which somewhat propelled her career to another level, to the other many successes and now to her 33rd birthday, she's gone through it all. (Her name Omotoke is a very strong Yoruba name which evokes that the child born, is a "Special One" that would be especially cared for and loved. So it's like that love radiates around her from all corners and comers. So on this special occasion of her born day, which was "November 4, 1984" her friends and associates yesterday rallied around her in good support to wish her the very best and a very happy 33rd birthday.

WHEN THE UNDISPUTED KING OF DANDIES-SIR JOHN OBAYUWANA ADDED A YEAR

There's no doubt about who Sir John Obayuwana is. The man at the helm at Polo Ltd, Nigeria's number one luxury, lifestyle brand that sells some of the best watch and pen brands in the world, likes of (Rolex, Roger Dubuis, Longines, Frederique Constant, Cartier, Chopard, MontBlanc etc) in Nigeria, has held us all under his super magic spell unobstructively for so long, mesmerising us continually and unabatedly.

Sir Obayuwana, is the dandy dad (daddy yo) of the equally super stylish, Jennifer Obayuwana, who is better referred to as the underboss of her dad's brand, where she has brought loads of "oomph" since she came on board a couple of years back as an Executive Director.

When you talk about style and the purveyors of it in the extreme form, this "gentleman par excellence" has it, in over abundance. In fact everything about him defines it, he defines the phrase "cognoscenti" with every fibre of his being.

You need to see him at work, dressed to the nines in very sophisticated pieces, with a time machine of class to add to the whole ensemble for you to better understand what we are on about. It's most definitely not only an out of work thing with him. For he is always on point at all times, never out of place. Very finicky to a fault.

HALIMA ABUBAKAR THE JUNE 12 LADY. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR

Halima is undoubtedly a survivor.  A strong survivor at that. She not too long ago successfully underwent a fibroid operation in India.

Not that that was something super extraordinary, but if you look at things from the perspective of some women being much more stronger than others and can take things easily in their strides a bit easier than others, then you'll understand that any decision to undergo an operation with all the risks involved is a big decision.

We are so happy that she has gotten her groove back. And she's looking better and better by the day.

So her birthday, June 12 is annually that special day, many are still clamouring to be declared a public holiday.

So for this year as expected of the Kano born thespian , she released these happy and grateful pictures here in celebration of life and seeing another birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NIGERIA!!!

We have tried to find the words, but truly nothing much came forth. If not for anything at all, at least we are thankful that we are alive and OK. Today, Tuesday, October 1, 2013 is Nigeria's 53rd birthday. 


From 1960 till now, how far have we come? Have there been major improvements? Have we learnt on this journey so far? 

How far have we come as a country? In 53 years we still have not been able to agree on leaving together, forging ahead and achieving great things. We still suffer from suspicions, the number one thing that should be our strength, which is our diversity seems a major weight, an albatross on our necks. 

A nation that is so blessed by God, with everything all other nations of other continents would kill to have. Unbelievably abundant mineral resources. Gloriously rich and fertile land mass. Our human resources is first grade, in terms of skills and sheer numbers, we  even have some of the most brilliant people on the face of the Earth, in all areas of human endeavours, banking and finance, science and medicine, governance and economy, religion and the arts, fashion, lifestyle and entertainment etc. 

But instead of us shaking the world as one of the top 5 nations of the universe, according to how God has ordained us to be, strife, greed, theft, violence etc seem to have become the order of the day.

OUR DEAREST ADUKE IS 42 TODAY....HIP HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!!!!!!

She has been described in many ways, some call her amazon, some have referred to her as one of the brightest minds of the nation. She's gorgeous, very VERY stylish, wonderfully humane, caring, very loving mother of one (the brilliant Morenikeji). A celebrated journalist/broadcaster (former talk show hostess). A sister to many, an inspiration to countless. Our own dear friend. The Chief witch like some very close to her call her.


It's none other then the incredible, vivacious, fiercely feminine, some say highly opinionated Olufunmilola Aduke-'mi' Iyanda. Born today, July 27, in 1971. 

Truth be said, Funmi has done very well for herself. We are one of the legions of her followers & friends, who loves her to the high heavens, medals, warts and all. If it were a country that truly appreciates hardwork for what it is, she would have received the highest accolades for her doggedness & brilliance. 

But no matter what, we celebrate our own. Happy birthday dear. Long may you live. May the creator grant to you, all that you wish for yourself and others. Many more great years ahead.
