The sheer luxury of the place is outstanding. It's currently the tallest hotel in West Africa, on 23 floors, having 358 rooms, 37 suites and a presidential suite. It also boasts of a 1500 m2 of ballroom space. Spacing with functionality at its best.
Away from the hotel and back to the unveiling proper, 36 awesomely gorgeous ladies were officially introduced to a cross section of the press/media yesterday Tuesday, June 11, 2013. By our opinion, these girls are most probably the best crop of girls gathered together to compete at a beauty pageant in a while. They were fresh looking and some very pretty. Truth be told they also looked quite young except for very few. And from our brief interactions with some of the girls many were outstandingly intelligent, who could hold their own well at anytime.
From 800 eager girls, who all felt they had the chance to just 36 now, one even came in from Canada to try her luck. They all came out one after the other introducing themselves, doing their best to impress . This year's theme is- 'Every Nation Needs a Queen' and it is centered on Unity across the 36 States of the Federation. Funds raised from the showcase would be used in support of the less privilege. We love the fact that a charity is connected to the pageant. A reality series tagged - the making of a queen would start 2 Weeks to the grand-finale, which is set for Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Grand-Ballroom of the hotel.
The idea behind the reality show is to make this year's show different and more interactive, the girls would go through rigorous tasks to assess their level of preparations & intelligence and it is from here, that 15 out of the 36 would be eliminated and only 21 would go on to compete at the grand-finals, where one would finally emerge as the best amongst equals.
The lucky winner of the 2013 edition, would go home with a car, 3 Million Naira and an all expense paid trip to California, USA courtesy Mud Cosmetics Nigeria, who are one of this year's sponsors. The choice of California is because it's the the home state of Mud Cosmetics. The queen would visit the Mud factory getting acquainted with the processes behind the making of the familiar products under the company. For the one year of the Queen's reign she would also be the company's brand Ambassador. For all her local flights all through her reign, she would enjoy free flights from Aero Contractors. The runners up on the other hand, would get free trips to Paris, France for their efforts.

According to Elohor Aisien, the Creative Director of Miss Nigeria Pageant, this year's edition is going to be one of the very best that has ever been staged and it promises to be very exciting.
