NIGERIA VS. ANGOLA MATCH. TO BE OR NOT TO BE, THAT'S THE QUESTION

COACH STEPHEN KESHI
Today is the d-day. Wednesday, January 11, 2012, set for the Abuja National stadium, the National teams of Nigeria and Angola another oil rich country from the Southern part of Africa are to clash in a friendly match. The very curious thing is that the NFF has decided to open up the stadium for free for lovers of football.

We are wondering if the ongoing strike/protests going on all over the country wouldn't affect the match.

Would Nigerians forget for at least 2 hours, their present agitations and go to the stadium or even tune to the TV stations to cheer on their beloved National team? Or would the Nation turn against their own team because of their seeming insensitivity to the plight of Nigerians?

The Federal Government, the Inspector General of Police and even some state governments have already assured any Nigerian who wants to defy the NLC/TUC to go to work or go about their legitimate work of adequate security, we are waiting to see if this assurance given would make people go watch the match.

We seem to have this feeling that if the National team goes ahead to play the match, they might draw the anger of the Nigerian people. The Angolan National team- The Palancas Negras, made up of 22 players and 17 officials making a 39 man contingent landed in Abuja last night, ready for today's match.

The Super Eagles Team for this match is made up of Home-based players
